Great property, well maintained, some minor detractors, but overall great stay
Great resort. I knew going in that it was a mostly older property, but it's well maintained. The amenities are kept up and the pool and waterfalls/decorations were awesome. The only detractor was the 7 days stay limit, which we were able to extend by a day after check in, so really, no problem there. The beach is somewhat eroded, and shorter than the optimal pictures of the lowest tide from many years ago. But, there's still room to layout on the sand, so it really made no difference. And the hotel can't really control beach erosion or rising tides that much. The resort staff are great people. The person I checked in with remembered me when I went down to extend my stay and said, "I'll take care of Mr. (my name)" The gift shop is a little overpriced, but not that bad, basic hotel upcharges. The meals served at the cafe were reasonably priced (compared to most places on Maui). $10 and $12 drinks at the bar are pretty reasonable for Mai Tais and Pina Coladas. There is huge food truck complex just in front of the hotel. There's also a boardwalk, just south of the hotel. I wish the hotel was closer to Whaler's Village shopping center, but I also enjoy walking the beach and boardwalk and the shopping center was only 2 miles south (easy drive too). There's a laundry machine (washer and dryer) on every floor, except the 1st floor. There are dishwashers, clothes hangars, dishes, silverware, coffee, coffee makers (full kitchen). Room towels are provided, beach towel passes are included (just to make sure you return them). The rental areas included beach chairs, bikes, snorkeling gear, etc. Overall, great resort and experience.
