Nice and relaxing stay

We came for Valentine's weekend and the owners were kind enough to leave all kinds of special treats like sweets, cheese and crackers, drinks, and flowers. The home is very relaxing. It was raining so we stayed in and enjoyed the fireplace, TV and lots of relaxation which was needed. The accommodation had everything we needed to cook our own meals. Enjoyed it!

Little slice of paradise

Beautiful, quiet location right on a private lake. We really enjoyed our stay here and especially loved the pedal pontoon boat and the other amenities. Loved that it was so close to the waterfalls and hiking trails too. We didn't want to leave this little oasis. Will definitely recommend to others.

Wonderful cabin on the lake.

We loved our stay at this cabin. The best part was relaxing on the screen porch and taking the canoe out to fish. I caught two basses. The state park pass was a great benefit, and we hiked one of the waterfall trails. My one tip is to be sure to write down the door code before you go because there is no cell phone reception. Thankfully the owner's son was near and helped us out. He was very kind. We are looking forward to going back soon.

Relaxing fun.

It was as advertised. Was surprised the amount of driving we did to go to parks, but easily could entertain yourself at property with water sports and not go anywhere. It even came with a very sweet outside cat.

4 nights on Lake Becky

Overall we enjoyed our stay here! The house is small but comfortable. We didn't spend as much time outside as we thought we would but the screened in porch. lakeside deck, and access to the boats were great to have. Our son loved the paddleboat, which was like a mini pontoon boat. The main reason we didn't spend as much time outside at the house was because we headed over to the adjacent state park two days in a row and took a road trip through the mountains on our third of three full days there. The hosts provided a pass to the state park, which was nice. The hosts live next door and were responsive, but I never felt that they were "in our space". Animal lovers: there is an adorable cat and group of ducks that like to hang out near the house and will come up to you to say hi. We brought our dogs, one of whom (a recent adoptee) was apparently not going to play nice with the cat & ducks. So, if you are bringing pets, be aware... on his own, our one dog would have ended up in a real-life animal buddy film on some kind of adventure with the cat and ducks, but we had to keep our other dog leashed and harnessed and fully under our control any time we opened the door... that is OUR issue (definitely not the fault of the hosts, and your pets should be "under your control" anyway), but if you have pets you should consider how they would react to the ducks and cat before you decide to bring them.

Mountain Rest Getaway

The property is exactly as advertised! Very cute older home with farmhouse chic updates all around. Lots of outdoor seating areas, cute deck with string lights, and lots of water craft at our disposal. There is also an outdoor grill and a fire pit. The bed is comfortable, sheets soft, towels plush, and linens smell good. Extra towels, linens, blankets, and pillows available. All the amenities and then some! They thought of everything! Cute little touches everywhere! The location is enough away from the busy areas, but close enough to grab a bite to eat. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing with a view of a lake cove. The owner was VERY quick to respond and helped with all our questions and concerns. He even had a State Park Pass for us to use. We will definitely stay here again!

Loved the cabin and the lake. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Neighborhood cat and my husband didn't bond very well but I found him to be a sweetheart. Looking forward to visiting again.

Peaceful

We enjoyed the peacefulness. The house was very cozy. It was well equipped with anything you may need. Make sure if you want to use the boats that you let the owner know when you book. Was very disappointed that we did not have access to the boats. The owner has a place next door, but does not live there, so not available like it sounds. Will definitely stay there again. Better communication next time we book.

Nice & Peaceful getaway

Our stay was nice - the cabin had lots of things to do - games, fishing poles, two grills, fire pit, chairs outside, screened porch, covered porch. The kids really enjoyed our hikes at the state park. Great place to stay!

About the host

Hosted by Danny Marcengill

Host profile image
We live a good bit next door to the cabin, but we have a closer to town home in Walhalla. We grew up in Oconee County, my wife spent her first 5 years on Lake Becky. My uncle and my family spent summers on the lake as well. My wife and I own The Marcengill Agency (Allstate) in Seneca, and my family has been in the insurance business since 1981. If you have a question about the area, we likely have an answer.

Why they chose this property

This cabin is fantastic, it is clean, cool, and a perfect place to get back to nature, with wi-fi if you can not handle too much nature.

One previous renter, said all the fun of camping with the comforts and room of home. The forest surrounding the cabin are full of noises of the woods, a creek babbles and fills the cove, the frogs are doing what frogs do, fish splash in the cove. This is a great place to get back in touch with your family, but still have the ablity to update your facebook status.

What makes this property unique

Lake Becky is lovely, older lake, well established. Sometimes you will see others on lake, but sometimes it like you own the whole lake. Plus we are the best deal in Mountain Rest! Currently, renters have limited access to lake, as things develop, we will let you know. Outside watercraft, motorized or non-motorized are not allowed on the lake.
