Private setting for a couple-just two people in the whole house!
Glorious Long Island Maine! Quiet, peaceful, friendly neighbors. Looking for a place to relax and rekindle your romance-this is the place. Have long lazy days of walking on beaches, cooking together and relaxing on the wraparound porch. My home has ash hardwood flooring with sea grass rugs for easy care and comfort. The walls are covered with hemlock shiplap and wonderfully scented cedar in the main bathroom. The kitchen is simple yet elegant with slate countertops and an open concept island. The romance continues in the bathroom with a two person marble shower and to complete the romance a copper soaking tub for one or two! For those cold nights you can sit outside on the wrap around deck and enjoy marshmallows at the fireplace. There is also a large deck for grilling and entertaining. Walk to the beach on those wonderful sunny days, get lobsters and cook them in the deck, grab a book and read on the wicker lounge chair. Rent a golf cart or bike and walk. Heartrock is a 5 minute walk to Fowler’s beach and a bit longer walk to the sandy shores of south beach. The house is secluded at the end of a dead end road and very private. House is limited to two people and no pets. Saturday to Saturday rental.

This cottage is the owner's dream house. You can see it in the details put into the property. Beautiful wrap around deck, and master bathroom. Some things are a little unique -- the refrigerator is in the basement, which is immaculate, and just steps from the kitchen. There was nowhere inside to eat, but there's a table on the deck, covered, and away from the weather. Well, there is a custom table, pushed out of the way, so it's really not meant to be used. And strange, but nice in a way -- a lack of mirrors and closets.
One minor suggestion -- the listing mentions a Keurig coffee maker, so we made sure to bring pods. But, it's a regular drip -- and coffee is available at the store on island. Oh, and golf carts are in short supply, so reserve early. The locals are really wonderful, and took pity on us, giving us a ride from the ferry to the house. It's only a little over a half mile, but when bringing in provisions, it can feel a lot longer!
In all, we had a lovely stay. Daily strolls about the island, and remarkably empty beaches for July. And there is something magical about everyone you pass waving. It only takes minutes to realize that it is a local custom - practiced even by teens! We loved it!
This property is great! We honeymooned here and fell in love with the property and the area. Jackie is awesome! And the people on the island are friendly. Make sure to stop in and eat at the Bakehouse (the woopie pies and cookies are great!) And tell them Ed says hi (we may or may not have stopped by at least once a day). Rent a golf cart to get around, but make sure you take some walks too. Couldn't ask for a more perfect place to spend our honeymoon!
We had a wonderful time staying as this beautiful well cared for home. The covered porch was wonderful to sit under in the late afternoon or during a rain shower. It was a short walk to Fowler's Beach as well as the gift shop and the ferry. Jackie is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a fabulous week! Thank you.
This is my Maine home. I only make it available a few weeks during the summer. I try to make the house comfortable for my guest, fully equipped kitchen, bikes, hammocks, lounge chairs and comfy seating. I love puzzles and poker and have table set up for a game of four. I splurged on a copper tube and an outdoor fireplace. Two luxuries we all need for a vacation. Hope you can come to Maine and enjoy the house.
Why they chose this property
Lobsters, lobsters and lobsters. The island is home to many Maine lobstermen including my family members. Best lobsters in the world.
What makes this property unique
Peace and privacy. The house sits on a large 1.5 acre lot at the end of a dead en road. Perfect for a couple to relax and rekindle the romance. Every room on the first floor opens up to the porch so you can enjoy the beauty of the island. The outdoor fireplace makes every evening special for you and that special person.
