Polar Bear plunge

We traveled to Door County from Iowa to do the polar bear plunge at Jacksonport Wisconsin January 1, 2022. The property was as expected, no surprises. Everything was clean and well stocked. Plenty of blankets, towels, etc. the kitchen is well stocked and very easy to use. We really like to rent places that offer a kitchen, much more convenient than always having to go to a restaurant. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, and we enjoyed the wonderful collection of CD movies provided. The sunsets were some of the best we’ve ever seen looking out over the water. I highly recommend this property.

Great family getaway

Came for a quick trip during fall break with our two girls and beagle. It was the perfect cottage for our group to come back to and warm up in after some chilly days hiking and visiting shops. We will highly recommend to our friends.

Fall Girl’s Weekend

The Trillium Cottage was delightful. Very clean and well equipped. We loved spending a beautiful night at the campfire listening to nothing but the Loons. The beds were very comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Only concerns were the very spotty WiFi. Basically it didn’t exist and the TV reception was inconsistent. The bathroom is small and shower is interesting. We loved our stay and would love to come again.

Wonderful week in Door County

Trillium Cottage was perfect for our week. After busy days exploring DC, it was nice to have quiet evenings to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, well stocked, and easy to check-in/out. Kris and Andy were very responsive - great hosts. Everything you need for a stress free vacation.

Access Door County

We had a wonder full stay. My wife went swimming every morning. There are two locations one is just a block from the house with a gorgeous sunset. And the other is a 10-15 min walke with a sandy beach. After long day trips thou out the Door County peninsula we relaxed in the spacious living/dining room. There is lots of of information for you day trips in the second drawer of the corner cabinet.

Not enough AC for 2 couples

When the bedroom doors were shut the AC was ineffective at best. We sweated bullets in our bedrooms but not at the kitchen table. The place would work great for a couple but not 2 couples.

Becoming a favorite

Second time around at this place and even more fun!! We LOVE this cabin, accommodates our family perfectly and the amenities are excellent. Neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. Easy drive to all the state parks and activities we want to do. I think the only reason we wouldn't stay here would be if we ended up buying a place of our own!

Family Vacation

My inlaws, two children, husband, and our dog absolutely loved this clean, cute, cozy, beautiful cottage! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful and our dog loved walking the neighborhood and taking a dip in the nearby lake. Kris and Andy were very organized and easy to communicate with. We would highly recommend this property again!

I wouldn’t recommend for more than two people

The cottage was location was good, but the biggest issue we had was the water supply. The well is a shared well with a neighboring property, and with a family of 6, we couldn’t take more than two showers without losing water pressure and having to wait for the well to fill back up. That meant no way to flush toilets, wash dishes or run the washing machine for a couple of hours at a time. It was very inconvenient. Nothing was said about the water supply until we received our welcome letter, which mentioned the shared well and possibly running the well dry.. If we had know that beforehand, we wouldn’t have stayed at this property.

Peaceful Getaway

Very woodsy, peaceful location and public access to the water was nearby. It is a bit off the beaten path, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at times. We are city dwellers, so took some time getting use to:-)

May stay in Door County

Easy to communicate with hosts if needed. Front yard was great for dog, just bring a chain since it is not fenced. Area around the cabin was great for walks. Short drive to Sturgeon Bay. A good place to stay.

Perfect weekend getaway

This little cottage had everything we needed for a fun outdoor getaway with my kids & Golden Retriever. The kids especially loved this tooling around the loop with the bikes, and since I was the only adult I really appreciated not having to pack ours. We greatly enjoyed nature’s beauty at Cave Point & Potawatomi State Park, as well as the sandy beach at Whitefish Bay. Andy was super helpful and attentive to making sure we had everything we needed.

Nice Location

The listing was accurate. We loved the short distance to the beach to watch the sunsets and you could see the bay from the living room. Close to hiking at Potawatami State Park and other fun Door County things. It was a nice getaway.

Great

My husband and I like to ice fish. This place is perfect! We could get right out on the lake a few houses down on our 4 wheeler. Driveway large enough for our big trailer and pickup. Cute place that has everything you need in it! In the summer it would be wonderful also. A very short walk (a couple of houses down) to swim, watch the sunset. I went with my sister there also with our two dogs and let them swim a bit, and the yard is nice with a fire pit. Great place! The owner is very accommodating, helpful and wonderful to work with.

Great fall get away

Lovely property which we used as a home base to explore Door County. The property was clean and inviting across the street from Rileys Bay(I think). Great sunsets nearby and a quiet cabin to enjoy . The owners replied quickly and the property had many staples you wouldn’t usually find in a VRBO. We would rent again!

The worst vacation home ever. Total nightmare

I rated 1 star because I couldn’t rate negative stars. We wanted to get away from routine after covid lockdown kept us away from traveling. But this was the worse nightmare house ever. To start they gave us the wrong code to get in. The place was very dusty and full of spider webs inside and out. They have rats in attic that kept us terrify and unable to sleep. They wanted to send exterminator to disturb our time when they should of fix this problem before our arrival. Rugs and couches were all full of stains they used blankets to cover it up but the blankets were dirty and uncomfortable to sit on. Dishes were dirty. Everything is very outdated looks like they have done any updates or repairs in 30 years. The grill was rusty and falling apart. Tables and patio furniture were broken and dirty. The bunk house was dirty and not complete with remodeling. They did not specify about it in the description about been unfinished. They ask for us to do the laundry before we leave. And we cleaned the floors, bathroom because we thought this people are very poor (everything looked like it needed updates) and we wanted to help. The gas grill did not have any gas and they asked us to go and get it. The woman’s bike was rusty. Now they are taking part of our deposit saying we stoled things. They overcharged us, our bank account shows more money taking out than they should of but they say we owe them. There was nothing that we could possibly want from this place. This was the worse nightmare. The owners are passive aggressive, they pretend they are nice to make you help out and then they are going to claim you stole. Warning! Do not tent this place. It should be inspected and taken out ftom people to be able to rent. Is unbelievable

Quiet Location with Activities near-by

My family was looking for a quiet getaway where we could manage our activities and get away for a week. The cottage was great for the whole family and our dog might have loved it the most with swims in Green Bay. We made plenty of day trips farther into Door County and had a great time.

About the host

Hosted by Andy

Host profile image
Kris and Andy are experienced vacation home owners and travelers. They love Door County and all it has to offer. They hope you will have a wonderful time with friends and family and building lasting memories. We are proud to be the new (April 2019) owners of Trillium Cottage (formerly Trinity Retreat) and have made many improvements - large and small - for your enjoyment and comfort.

Kris and Andy enjoy kayaking, bicycling, cross country skiing, wildlife viewing, fishing, swimming, antiques, art festivals, history, traveling, and just relaxing at the cottage near the water. Andy is especially fond of the fresh local apples and cherries from Door County! Our dogs, Milo and Ivy, love to swim and play fetch in the nearby water access!

Why they chose this property

We love Door County! The setting of Trillium Cottage is wonderful. It is near enough to the typical Door County activities and yet a little out of the way in a quiet place. We enjoy the open floor plan of this 1960s cottage. The yard is great for games and the fire pit area is wonderful for good times with friends and family. We love to walk or bike the 1-mile low-traffic loop around the point with our dogs! This location is perfect for us as we enjoy many outdoor activities - we hope you enjoy it too! In addition to outdoor activities, art, history, shopping, theater, and great dining options are all accessible from Trillium Cottage.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the western and southern exposure and the bright, open floor plan. We love the sound of the waves on the shore of the point, the strong breezes that almost always seem to blow across the point, the wooded lot and quiet setting. There is a wide variety of bird life around - from eagles to white pelicans to Baltimore orioles. We love that the closest water access is only 1000' away and it faces west for enjoying the amazing sunsets! Bring your kayaks or rent locally! Trillium Cottage is stocked with cruiser bikes for guest use - perfect for a quick ride to the nearby beaches or doing the quiet and peaceful 1-mile loop around the point.
