About this property

Huge 8 bdm 7 baths, log cabin with views!!! sleeps 35, eating for 28, pets ok

Welcome to our authentic log cabin. We are proud to offer a very clean and well equipped cabin for our guests. The cabin was built with logs that had been harvested from this property. The private NEWLY PAVED ROAD brings you through our gate to the huge open area around the cabin. We have three and a half acres and do not have large drop offs like you experience with cabins in Pigeon Forge. Kids have the entire property to play including a large play structure.
The kids can explore and climb on the huge assortment of large boulders. Kids can climb or jumped between them. We also highly recommend, visiting the baby deer sanctuary. It is just a short 10 minute walk from our cabin. The caretakers are always happy to let you interact with the deer or raccoons in their natural setting. Often the deer wander up to our cabin for a visit. Many of the guests have said, their visit to the deer sanctuary, was the highlight of their stay. The South Toe River, which is about a mile away, as the crow flies, or less than 10 minutes in the car. It is a gentle river, perfect for fishing, tubing, or a peaceful rafting trip for as long as you would like. There are many grassy places to pull ashore if anyone gets tired. The cell service is pretty good through most of the river. That makes it easy to have someone pick you up when you have had a full day. I have been told by the "locals" that the river can be taken all the way into South East Tennessee. after joining with the Nolichuckey River.

Some of our guests have decided to bring their own RV for additional sleeping purposes. We are always flexible and try to make your event, exactly as you have planned. We understand the tremendous amount of planning, that goes into getting everyone's schedule in sync. We coordinate the dates and pricing for 50 to 60 groups EACH YEAR. WE ENJOY SPEAKING WITH YOU AND ANSWERING AS MANY QUESTIONS AS YOU MIGHT HAVE. WE HAVE FOUND THAT ABOUT 80% OF OUR BOOKINGS ARE FOR FAMILY REUNIONS OR CHURCH RETREATS OF SOME TYPE. WE OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR OUR ACTIVE OR RETIRED MILITARY, AS WELL AS ANY CHURCH AFFILIATED GROUP. MANY OF OUR GROUPS RETURN A FEW TIMES EACH YEAR. WE ARE HAPPY TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR EVENT, EXCEED YOUR EXPECTATIONS. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO HELP EACH GROUP PERSONALIZE THEIR STAY WITH US. (TALK TO US ABOUT YOUR BUDGET) We do not like to turn anyone away, especially a church group, due to a tight budget. Email us and we are happy to work with you. There is a tremendous amount of vacant land that abuts our parcel. You have to go and stand at the edge of our property and look thru the trees in order to see another cabin, from our parcel.

Relax and enjoy the spaciousness of this 4500 square foot, 8 bedroom, 7 bath cabin that was recently remodeled. The lodge’s interior features huge, vaulted, log beam ceilings. The Lodge was professionally decorated, in a 'Mountain Lodge' and 'Americana' theme. There are many antiques and era replica pieces. Relax on the front porch in one of the rocking chairs regular chairs on the covered sixty foot front porch. The porch also has a picnic table as well as a gas Bar-b-q that we provide the fuel for. The lodge has a country atmosphere, but includes all the modern conveniences and amenities you would expect in a new custom home. We do our very best to keep the lodge dust free and clean, by vacuuming, disinfecting and re-stocking all paper goods and soaps before a new group arrives.

Three of the eight bedrooms are master suites, with their own private master baths. They all have jetted Jacuzzi tubs and over sized tile showers. Five of the seven other bedrooms, have a full bathroom with custom tile showers located adjacent to each bedroom. All of the bedrooms have authentic log beds including 1 king, 6 queens 1 double , Three twins and one queen convertible sofas and 4 twin beds. We also have 7 twin mattresses with complete linens, that can be moved from room to room as needed. We recently added 2 additional roll-w-way twin beds and a very comfortable queen sleeper sofa downstairs. We also have very high quality bed linens and towels, that are provided and are unique to each room.

The main living room with it’s twenty foot log beam ceilings, is completely furnished with overstuffed leather sofas and chairs. There is also "Fire/Netflix that provides up to 125 channels. There is also a new 50 inch monitor along with a new DVD player. This level also includes a huge fully furnished kitchen with service to accommodate your very large group. The kitchen is big and roomy, large enough for many cooks to work in at once. A new stove, microwave, dishwasher and two refrigerators with ice makers will provide the necessary means to handle your large group. The main dining table, crafted of timbers cut on the property, seats 26 comfortably. A separate dining table is adjacent to the big table. It seats an additional six.

The downstairs great room features a new 50 inch flat screen monitor with a DVD player and a surround sound audio system. This spacious room is decorated in a mountain theme and has all leather overstuffed sofas , chairs and ottomans. You may just want to sit on the raised brick hearth and enjoy the heat from the stove while watching a movie or reading a book. There is a wet bar with a small refrigerator as well as a custom pool table. This level also includes the bunk house room, with two sets of twin bunk beds. A full bathroom and separate laundry room with washer, dryer and ground level entrance round out this floor.

The lodge also includes four additional flat screen monitors. with Roku/Fire at each screen and a wireless internet network for the entire cabin.

Outdoors is the covered hot tub, that easily accommodates up to eight. The large covered deck has six large wooden rocking chairs, and a gas bar-b-cue. There is also a picnic table, for outdoor dining. For those of you that love just sitting around a fire. We have an old fashioned wood burning fire pit. It is complete with seating for ten. From the fire pit you have a great view, that over looks the mountain ranges. There is also a large wooden play set for the kids entertainment as well as huge boulders for the kids who love to climb and explore. We are 15 mins to town, but remote enough to enjoy the densely wooded outdoors. (There are guide books @ the cabin with numerous additional area trails and waterfalls to h

Great Place for large groups!

I was with a college group and we had a blast staying here. The property is beautiful and displays a stunning sunset. It was perfect for a game night and large group meals. The parking lot is very spacious. We only have a few gripes, but they weren't deal

Great place until the lights went out. (Cockroaches)

Got there around 4 and the place looked great. 10 pm saw a roach on the kitchen counter thought since it was 1 no big deal. 11 pm cockroach falls on y a child in beds face. We got curious and started looking around and they were everywhere. The kitchen had a light that came on by a sensor and the roaches were causing it to go off and on. We realized by 4 am we couldn’t stay any longe so packed up and left the place. I would add pics if I could figure out how to do it.

Snow Experience at the Cabin

We stayed at the cabin during a recent snow storm of over 6”. It was a magical experience for our kids who have never seen snow like that before. The cabin was great, a mud room to take off all our wet clothes, heaters that helped dry everything out, a farmhouse table to seat everyone for meals, a pool table, and hang out area downstairs, etc. We unfortunately had communication issues with the owner, but that doesn’t seem common from other reviews. We also stressed over how we would be able to leave given that the driveway was steep and covered in ice and snow, but the day we were supposed to check out one of the neighbors assisted to plow and salt the driveway. We later found out this is common and would have saved us a lot of anxiety to have known ahead of time, so I’m sharing for anyone in the future that stays during snow. We also saw some bugs in the kitchen but that was likely exacerbated by the snow and can be easily resolved. We plan to return and recommend this cabin to others. We look forward to coming back in warmer weather and exploring the area.

Green Mountain Christmas

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during Christmas. Plenty of space and the weather warmed enough to use the playground and firepit. The hosts are very receptive to questions and are quick to reply. Nice people and we wouldn't hesitate to rent again. The only downside would be that the internet isn't very strong but we realized that we were on top of a mountain. Would rent again.

Nice large lodge!

As a disaster relief group, the house fit our needs perfectly! From the large dining table to the many rooms and A+ for the extra mattresses(not air mattresses, real ones) and bedding etc. We cooked many meals and the kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans etc. This lodge gives a real cabin feel. The owner was kind and helpful! And the neighbors we met were also friendly and kind. Thank you for the pleasant accommodations!

The property was excellent, lots of space to gather and rooms to sleep comfortably. Not too difficult to get to if it's not raining. The place was clean and smelled good. We only had a problem with the stove, which didn't heat properly and kept turning off.

Thanksgiving Trip

Had an amazing time at the cabin! Friends and family trip and the cabin was perfect for our large group. Plenty of rooms and bed options. Private as could be at the top of the hill. Fire pit and pool table were big hits. Teenagers enjoyed the hot tub. Would stay again!

We had a nice stay and plan on doing it again.

We had a fun stay with our large family. We all enjoyed the fire pit and made s’mores one evening. You can get wood down the road from a neighbor for $7 a bundle, if you need it. The hot tub was great and worked well. There were plenty of towels for the hot tub, which was also nice. The rooms are comfortable and there’s plenty of space to relax together in both living rooms. We all loved the big kitchen and the little mud room area when you walk in is surprisingly handy. The large kitchen table was great for our big family and all our kids. It was decorated very appropriately for an Appalachian mountain cabin. The mountain views and setting were beautiful. We did see quite a few deer around the area during our stay, we weren’t able to reach the Deer Rescue by phone, so didn’t get to do that. But plan to try next time we come. A few things to note, two of the jet tubs don’t work. You can still take a nice bath but the jet function didn’t work. It didn’t matter much to us because we loved the hot tub, but others may care. Also, the internet connectivity was pretty much non existent. The internet to the house and cell service came in and out and frequently and were very slow even when working. We were told this was due to damaged infrastructure because of Hurricane Helene and that it is continuing to be worked on. Hopefully it will get better as they work on it. Still, all around, we really enjoyed it and will plan to return for another fun stay.

The two jetted tubs were missing the turn on knobs; however, we had the best time. The internet was spotty, but it gave us an opportunity to re-connect as a family. We played cards, board games, hide-n-seek, and we reminisce about the past good times we had together. There is absolutely NO BED BUGS! My son checked all the mattresses, and the ones under the beds and closet. The home was spotless! Plenty of dishes and utensils. If you do rent this cabin please go see Ms. Angela & Ms. Molly at the deer refuge at the bottom of the hill. There is also Ms. Crystal and her momma who rehabilitate raccoons. Awesome people and beautiful setting. Will definitely rent again. Money well spent.

Great location and size

This is our 2nd year staying as a family. Plenty of room for us all. Property is away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to what we enjoy doing from UtV rides, mt Mitchell etc.The deer that visit are an amazing plus! The grandkids absolutely love petting them! The house is equipped with I would say just about everything you would need. Internet service isn’t the greatest but we didn’t mind as we were trying to unplug anyways. This is definitely our yearly go to place!

Family reunion

Our stay at Green Mountain in North Carolina, was amazing! The Lodge was beautifully decorated and have plenty of space for 20 member reunion. We absolutely loved the kitchen table. We’re all 20 of us could sit and eat at the same time. It is beautifully located in the mountain and there were tons of activities in the area to keep us busy for the nine days of our stay. we absolutely love the large dining table. We’re all 20 of us could sit and eat and talk and enjoy games at the same time. The downstairs area was great for the kids to go and play while the adults stayed upstairs enjoying that space. We love the playground and the horseshoe pit in the porch where we could sit out and have our morning coffee or tea. we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival, because the lodge was even better than we had imagined! We highly recommend it… Bill and Kathy were great host!

Fun Famiy Reunion

The Davis Lodge was a great place for our 16-person family. The driveway has been paved and none of our seven cars had any trouble accessing the property. There was adequate parking. The outside of the lodge is very pretty with manicured flowers and trees. There is a nice grassy area with horseshoes, a fire pit, children's play area, and room for cornhole. The view of the surrounding area is lovely. The inside is clean and the kitchen in particular is well-stocked and spacious. Most of the beds were very comfortable and the Americana decor attractive. In one room the bed was rather old and had bugs. The owners were responsive to this issue. The basement had plenty of room in which the kids could run around. The pool table was fine because none of us are pool sharks! We had no issues with leaks or drips or the like. We just followed the rules and had no problem using the jacuzzi or hot tub. Our thirty-something kids really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. We took a trip down the road to the deer rescue, and as others have mentioned, it was a hit. The little fawns are just charming. Overall, we had a nice vacation.

All in all great stay.

This property is perfect for big parties. The 2 issues we had were the driveway and beds. First the driveway, if you dont have AWD do not rent this cabin until it is paved. We had 5 vehicles in our party and 1 couldnt get up the driveway. It was FWD. When it rains it becomes very rough and bumpy. Second each room only has 1 bedframe except for the 2 doubles in one and the bunk beds in the other. All the other rooms call for multiple beds but only have the king and queens on frames. All the twins are mattresses that are slid under the beds or packed in closets. This was not an issue for us as our party was 21. If we would have had more we would have had some problems. All in all this is a great cabin is rent for your next reunion.

The retirement celebration

We had a wonderful stay at the Davis Lodge. There was plenty of room for the 19 family members that were able to meet in the mountains for the retirement celebration. The house was well equipped for meals together and the play area was nice for the kids. Caution can be said for the driveway. It had just rained terribly the day before we got there so there was a lot of wash out. Had to back any vehicle without 4 wheel drive up the driveway. That was a feat! Just be careful. Bill was helpful when we had questions and enjoyed speaking to him when we needed assistance with anything.

Very Comfortable and Spacious

Our large group stayed here for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Having 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms with showers allowed our group privacy and the ability to spread out. The kitchen was large and well supplied. Bathrooms were all really nice and clean, showers were great. We ran each day on the Appalachian Trail and this was relatively centrally located for all of our days on the trail. Having that many showers was great and we could all shower and then go out and enjoy the spacious deck. The driveway is steep but the gravel is solid and if you take your time, it's not a problem. We used a 15 passenger van and pulled a small trailer to the top, A bit tricky but doable. Just be sure to closely follow the directions to the house. It's in a great location but a little challenging to find. We will definitely stay here again.

About the host

Hosted by Bill Davis

Host profile image
Cindy and I met at our church youth group, in 1974. We were married in Long Beach, CA. in 1976. Cindy retired from the school district and I retired from law enforcement in 2003. We raised our first four children, in a very rural area of Northern California. Our entire "clan" of six families, moved together in June of 2004 to Tennessee. We were fortunate to have our married children, spouses, as well as our 14 grand children and three great grand children living just a few miles away. Since moving to Tennessee, we have adopted and raised six additional children in the last eleven years. Most of our adult children, live in the greater Greeneville area. Several other relatives, families and friends, have made the move to Tennessee in the years that followed. It has been a wonderful, rural area to watch the grand kids growing up. They now range in ages from 26 yrs to 1 year.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this large home on our first visit, and were the new owners, just 6 days later. The three story Lodge originally was a 10 bedroom. We were amazed with the enormous logs. All of them had been harvested from the property itself. We created 3 master suites causing the reduction in the number of bedrooms. With our immediate. family hovering at about 35, this cabin was just ideal for us. There are four large separate gathering areas. After a few years of owning the cabin we decided to try renting it. It was a great success. We have enjoyed making many new friends in the last 17 years. About 70% of our guests come as part of a family gathering., while the remainder typically consist of church or business retreats.

WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO WORK WITH ANY GROUPS BUDGET. IN ALL THE YEARS WE HAVE RENTED THE LODGE...WE HAVE ONLY HAD ONE GROUP THAT WE COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE THEIR BUDGET. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT US WITH YOUR BUDGET LIMITS. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO TRY!!

What makes this property unique

We receive comments each week from guests about the many features of the Lodge they loved. The ability to seat your entire group together at meal time, is always one of the favorite features at the cabin. The three Master Suites with their own private bathrooms are a great bonus. The availability of the ample supply of other bathrooms makes waiting in line no problem at the Lodge. With end of the road privacy and plenty of room outdoors, there is NEVER a feeling of being crowded. We have had as many as 52 folks stay at the cabin at one time. We have also had plenty of room for several vehicles as well as your fifth wheel, motor home, or church bus. The entire Lodge was gutted and completely remodeled in recent years. It has all been DECORATED with an Americana/Country theme.

THERE ARE OTHER CABINS, SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE AREA. YOU CANNOT SEE ANY OF THEM FROM OUR PORCHES, DECKS. OR FROM THE INSIDE OF OUR CABIN. MOST OF THESE CABINS ARE USED AS A WEEKEND Getaway for the owners. I RECENTLY MET ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS, AFTER 18 YRS OF OWNING THE CABIN. YOU ARE SECLUDED, BUT ONLY ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. WE ARE ABOUT 10 MINS FROM DOWNTOWN BURNSVILLE AND THE HUGE GROCERY STORE.

I hope this gives you a better picture of the lodge.
