Wonderful Little Getaway for the weekend

My husband and I have stayed here several years for our annual fishing trip. The home is perfectly located to access many local launches, including one practically across the street. The home is so cozy and always extremely clean. The hosts definitely go above and beyond to make you feel at home and welcome.

Great place to stay if you’re fishing

The communication from the owners started prior to our arrival date and continued through the stay ensuring that anything we needed was taken care of. The house was very clean and while it’s nothing extravagant the updates that have been done are great and anything you need is provided. If you’re planning on fishing while staying this is a great location as the boat launch is across the road two houses away.

Cozy Stay in the UP

This home was perfect for our needs. It is ideally located right between Big Bay and Little Bay. It had a large driveway which was perfect for storing our boat. The home was extremely clean/spacious and the owners were not only wonderful at communicating but even left the most thoughtful note and welcome basket. Would most definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Very convenient to Fayette

This was a great place to stay to easily get to Fayette. There are a lot of nice upgrades to the house and it is very clean. After a long day, the overstuffed leather couch was wonderful - especially the foot rest! The snack basket was so thoughtful and a nice touch since stores are distant. The bathroom was a smorgasboard of shampoos and soaps. We were very happy for the first aid kit when we needed a bandage!

Really clean property and cute house. The hosts are very nice and communicative and left a lovely welcome basket with snacks. The house has pretty much anything you need, very well stocked. The boat launch to lake michigan is VERY close. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore kitch iti kipi, hiawatha forest, or fayette ghost town. Roughly an hour from pictured rock and lots of waterfalls. We loved our stay and can definitely recommend this rental.

Exceptional value for money with a very responsive host

I gave this property five stars because of the lovely host- who really was very responsive and considerate -and the value for money. The property itself is a little ramshackle (I found this charming, but if you need sleek modern comfort this place is not for you), a bit out of the way (which could be a bonus, depending on how you want to spend your time) and lacking a baking tray (of all things). But it was clean and spacious. It may not have a lot going on locally, but easy striking distance to Munising . We were in Munising the night before and spent over 3x as much to cram into one room. Two of the three tours we were doing in Munising were cancelled due to bad weather, and we were able to easily go back and do the things we had missed out on (45 minute easy drive each way). The kids also swam in Lake Michigan from a nearby beach and there is kayak rental and golf near by. I'm sure it would be a reasonable drive to other attractions as well so it would have been possible to spend longer.

The owners communicated with me when I had questions and let us know that we could reach out if we needed anything. Our family would definitely like to go back to this location again!

Wonderful time in the UP

Shannon’s place was just perfect for our travels throughout the UP. So clean, with all the amenities you could possibly think of for a home away from home. The area is gorgeous with several State Parks close by to explore. We had a wonderful stay at Shannon’s place in Nahma!

Relaxing in Nahma, MI

The house was neat and well organized, the kitchen had everything we could have needed. The beds were comfortable and the interior decorated with fun “welcomes” and subdued, relaxing colors. There was a nice treat box on the table when we arrived.

Bill and I were both born and raised in the U.P., so we know the area very well. We have owned our house in Nahma for the past 20 years, and we are excited to be able to share our house with others. We live only a short distance away, so we can make ourselves available at any time during your trip if you need anything or if you have any questions or issues. We highly respect the privacy of our guests and will not disturb you during your stay. We take great pride in providing our guests with a warm & welcoming house!

Why they chose this property

Nahma is a historic lumbering town that was established as early as 1856, with lots of history. Nahma is located in the south-central Upper Peninsula of Michigan, located on the shoreline of Big Bay de Noc, Lake Michigan. There is a small bar/restaurant that serves lunch, dinner, and beverages and is only a short walk from the house. There is a public boat launch located kitty-corner across the street from our house. It has a nice launch area for larger size boats and also has a trail that has fishing piers to fish from or just sit and listen to the waves roll in. There is a fenced playground with a basketball court located a short walk from house. Approximately 68% (75,000 acres) of Nahma Township land is Federally owned, Hiawatha National Forest. Nahma is an excellent area for sightseeing, fishing, hunting, boating, kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, snowmobiling, ATV rides, bird watching, hiking, biking, golfing, and so much more. Nahma is only a short distance from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Fayette Historic State Park, Palms Book State Park (Kitch-Iti-Kipi), Indian Lake State Park, Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Laughing Whitefish Falls State Park, Presque Isle Park, Seney National Wildlife Refuge, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, Oswald’s Bear Ranch, Garlyn Zoo, Tahquamenon Falls Toonerville Trolly Train & Boat Tours, waterfalls, lighthouses, and much more. Nahma is surrounded by lots of wilderness, with access to State and Federal land nearby and the opportunity to see deer, bear, fox, coyotes, wolves, cougars, moose, and many different bird species. Nahma is a great place for fishing on Big Bay de Noc and is only a short distance from Little Bay de Noc, Lake Michigan, and 100’s of different inland lakes for fishing bass, northern pike, salmon, trout, whitefish, carp, muskies, walleye, perch, bluegill, sunfish and more.
