Nice property but with some important information missing from the listing
This is the owner's house, but she moves into a property in the grounds when the house is let. She's unobtrusive, but the house is clearly her home, filled with belongings,and has some idiosyncrasies which she points out in a tour of the house when you arrive. Despite it being a home, the kitchen is lacking in a few useful items,eg chopping boards and roasting tins.
The house was very clean and spacious, with comfortable beds and good WiFi.
One major issue which should definitely be included in the listing is that there is no bed linen or towels provided. The owner texted us the day before our arrival to inform us of this, but as we had already been in France for 10 days prior to reaching the gite, this was too late to discover this. We had previously been camping so did in fact have bedding and towels with us, but it was disappointing to find ourselves using sleeping bags and old towels when we had paid a lot for our week's stay here. This would be a major issue if you were flying here.
The pool was wonderful with a lovely view.There are no pool toys so we bought our own.
The house is cool because it is surrounded by trees. However, this also makes it attractive to mosquitoes. We were informed that we would need to buy mosquito coils; it's a shame these are not provided. But even with them we were bitten a lot in the evenings.
On departure, the owner asked for a cleaning fee in cash. On advice from VRBO we declined to pay this as it should have been in the listing.
