About this property

Fabulous Restored Townhouse in Lagos Old Town With Panoramic Roof Terrace.

The Casa Amendoeira is a newly renovated townhouse within the historic town walls of Lagos and only a few minutes walk to all amenities and beaches.

It is not the usual 'holiday' accommodation: the Casa has been lovingly restored, furnished and equipped to create a beautiful and comfortable 'home from home' for our guests. Warm colours, paintings by local artists, Moroccan furnishings and lamps greet the visitor on arrival. The two bedrooms (double and twin/double) are quiet, cosy and have very comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped with electronic devices and a good assortment of kitchen tools, upstairs is a bright and spacious open plan sitting room with dining area, with a comfortable wood-fired stove (for the winter months!) and from there outside steps lead from a balcony up to our beautiful 360° view roof terrace which is perfect for relaxing, sunning and just having a good time. Ideal for all year-round sunbathing as Lagos receives over 300 days of brilliant blue skies per year.

That said, the electric power of the Casa Amendoeira is mostly gained from a solar panel on the roof that can produce 1700KWh/per year. Further, the house is equipped with an A++ washing machine and an A+++ refrigerator and dryer. For keeping you warm in winter, we installed infrared heaters that are also powered by our solar panels.

Please be aware that in the historic center of Lagos, where our holiday home is located, there has been an increase in construction and renovation activities in recent years. Consequently, there is a possibility that construction or renovation work may take place in the neighborhood, which as landlords, we cannot foresee or influence. If you highly value tranquility during your stay, we recommend considering this when choosing accommodation in the "centro histórico". We are always committed to ensuring a pleasant and relaxing stay for you and are happy to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.

A simply wonderful place in Lagos

Lovely

Wonderful little house in the old part of town. Close to public parking which was convenient for groceries and luggage. House was very cute and tidy, and had a well equipped kitchen. Front door is tricky at first and beds were hard, but overall we loved it.

Really great stay

We stayed for 11 days and loved every minute of it. The location was perfect, the weather was great, and we walked 5-8 miles a day to everything. I will sincerely miss waking up here. Be aware they are VERY accurate in describing the stairs :)

Very accommodating hosts

About 1 week before we arrived, the hosts informed me that the unit next door had started off-season renovations, and we could cancel if we wanted. We decided to try it anyway. Unfortunately, the noise was too much, and we were forced to alter our plans. The hosts quickly arranged a refund of the unused nights. We appreciated the honest and professional way they handled this situation.

Great location

From the beginning Uta and Marc were very helpful with information regarding the apartment, and working with us regarding check in. The apartment was in a perfect location to get to anywhere in Lagos within walking distance, and was very quiet in the evening. Everything we needed was in the apartment. Would stay here again if I returned to Lagos.

First time in Lagos

Very happy with this property. Check-in was very easy and communication with our landlord was flawless from the very beginning. It is in an incredible location. We were able to walk to anything. If you have trouble with steps, this may not be the place for you, but if that is not the case, you will enjoy three incredible floors! Would definitely recommend this property.

We loved this traditional house in the old town. Very spacious. Everything you could possibly want. Stairs were not a problem for us but bare them in mind. Loved the roof terrace with amazing views and made use of the bbq on quite a few evenings. A light on the roof would have been good as it gets dark early this time of year and it was a little difficult to see what we were cooking. Didn’t stop us using it though. Being right in the old town was a bonus as previously we have stayed on the outskirts and relied on buses and don’t run very late. We loved being able to walk to action. Having said that, the house is tucked far enough away so as not to be troubled by revellers. Comfy bed, good hairdryer (very important for us ladies), good citrus juicer and very well equipped kitchen. Good communication with the owners. A lot of very useful information about the house and it’s little quirks. Thank you Uta & Marc. We had a superb stay.

Ein Traum in Lagos

Tolles Haus in der Altstadt von Lagos, ruhig gelegen aber nur wenige Schritte von den zauberhaften Stränden, den unzähligen Restaurants entfernt. Ein Kleinod mit einem sehr geschmackvollen, orientalischen Flair und eine super schönen Dachterrasse. Wir werden wieder kommen beim nächsten Besuch in Lagos.

Beste Erholung in sehr schönem Appartement in einer wunderbaren Stadt

Morgens schon mit einer Tasse Kaffee auf der Dachterrasse den Sonnenaufgang über dem Meer und der Stadt bewundern. Herrlich! Wer in diesem schönen Casa nicht das Leben genießen kann, ist selber schuld. Sehr geschmack- und liebevoll eingerichtet, mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet, in bester Lage, bietet diese Unterkunft alles, was einen Urlaub so wertvoll werden lässt. Wenn dann auch noch die gesamte Organisation, Anfahrtsbeschreibung, Sauberkeit, Hilfsbereitschaft perfekt ablaufen, kann man nur DANKE sagen! Also: Danke Uta & Marc!

Perfect Lagos Location

The property was as described and was the perfect location for our 8 days in the Algarve. The there are plenty of beaches nearby and many restaurants to choose from. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare a meal at home, which we did, just for a change of pace. Loved the view from the upper deck and used this space to do my morning yoga as well as a cool location for an after dinner beverage. Communication with Marc was quick and efficient. There are stairs to maneuver daily, but it was not a problem for us. We also appreciated the washer/dryer. Interesting parking arrangement, which was new to us, but not uncommon in Portugal to park in a public lot a few blocks from home. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

Top Lage in der Altstadt

Das Haus liegt zentral in der Altstadt und alles ist fußläufig zu erreichen. Wer motorisiert unterwegs sein möchte ,sollte beachten ,dass Parkplätze im Zentrum knapp sind, Scooter sind eine gute Alternative zum Auto. Ansonsten haben wir im Haus alles vorgefunden, was man benötigt, selbst wenn etwas fehlen sollte ,helfen die Vermieter Uta und Marc blitzschnell weiter. Unser Highlight war die Dachterrasse. Der Windschutz schützt vor den abendlichen Winden und man kann den Urlaub voll genießen. Wir können das Haus / die Vermieter aus voller Überzeugung weiterempfehlen.

schönes Stadthaus mit marokkanischem Ambiente in der Altstadt

Das Haus ist nicht nur schön eingerichtet, sondern auch praktisch. Die Küche ist gut ausgerüstet, es gab sogar Gewürze, Öl und Müllsäcke etc. Wir konnten das Auto problemlos vor der Stadtmauer auf dem großen kostenfreien Parkplatz parken - ca. 300 Meter Fußweg. Schöne Dachterrasse. Als es kalt war, half die Heizung weiter. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Agréable séjour "randonnée" début novembre

Nous avons passé deux semaines très agréables à la Casa Amendoeira. L'appartement est tout à fait conforme à la description, tout près du centre de la ville historique. L'hôte est très réactif et disposé à régler le moindre problème. Le chauffage est un vrai plus pour les matinées un peu fraîches de novembre. L'appartement est très bien équipé. Attention néanmoins aux nombreux escaliers... Lagos est idéalement située pour rayonner en Algarve et randonner sur la côte vicentine.

Lagos hideaway

The house is absolutely charming and in the best location in the historic district. In the center of everything but also very quiet at night. The owners have thought of everything you could need to effectively use the kitchen for meal preparation. Be aware that as the listing states, there are several flights of stairs. The dining area and living room is one level up from the kitchen but we did not find this to be a problem. This is the cleanest rental we have had the pleasure to stay in and thoroughly enjoyed our 20 days in February.

Die liebevoll eingerichtete Wohnung ließ keine Wünsche offen. Besonders angetan waren wir von der Dachterrasse, auf der wir abends bei einem Glas Wein unter Sternenhimmel den Tag ausklingen lassen konnten...Die Lage ist genial - in der Altstadt, alles fußläufig erreichbar und trotzdem relativ ruhig...Wir waren begeistert!

Alles wahr wie im Angebot beschrieben,nur die Lage wahr noch besser als gedacht.Super kurze Wege in die Altstadt etwas oberhalb gelegen aber dafür ruhig und dennoch nah dran am Geschehen.Kurzer Weg zum Bäcker oder Markthalle in ein paar Minuten alles zu erreichen.Wir kommen gerne wieder!!!! We are a couple with two children (20 and 7 years old) living in Germany. Our favourite destination for holidays was the Algarve, so for us, the "Casa Amendoeira" is a dream come true.

Why they chose this property

We purchased the Casa in November 2014, because it is in excellent condition, cosy and lovely. It felt like the perfect home from home for us, so we decided to change some details only, like gaining sustainable energy by installing solar panels on the roof and infrared heaters to keep you warm in winter. Meanwhile a lot of moroccan style interior has moved in to make it even more special and give the house a unique atmosphere.

What makes this property unique

The roof terrace allows a beautiful view to the ocean and the old city of Lagos. You are really in the city centre, but not located in one of the main streets. Therefore the street is quiet yet still close to the next good restaurant and shops within 2 minutes. And it will feel good to know, that all energy you need comes from the solar panel on the roof. Go green...
