Villa Evanthia is a newly built - 2013 - villa with private pool run by the Paraschakis family and it has so many things to offer.The villa is situated in a landscape of unique beauty with nice views,in a peaceful area and just a two minute walk from the village of Melidoni.
A great place for you,the distinguished traveller,who is seeking for a 'home' away from home!Away from the hustle of the touristic areas but perfectly situated to reach Crete's different and beautiful beaches,villages and sights.
When you walk in the garden gate you have a beautiful garden with grass and colourful flowers on your right and on your left you have a 40m2 swimming pool surrounded by sun beds for your relaxation.Looking further into the garden you will also see a barbecue area and a wood burning oven,ideal for lamb and potatoes.There is also private parking and table tennis for extra fun!
On the ground floor there is a fully equipped kitchen,a living room with a fireplace,a bedroom with two single beds,a bathroom and a small storage.The ground floor and the outdoor space(pool area,barbecue area and parking)have access for disabled guests.
On the first floor there is a bedroom with one double bed and a balcony.The second bedroom has three single beds and a balcony.And the third bedroom has a double bed,ensuite bathroom and a balcony.There is also a third bathroom on the first floor.
Villa Evanthia sleeps from five to ten people.
Villa Evanthia is in the village of Melidoni where you can also visit the Paraschakis Family Olive Oil factory , the historical Cave of Melidoni and Reptilsland where you can see a wide range of reptiles. You are also in walking distance to the square of the village where you can have a coffee or enjoy a meal at the two tavernas Carob and Olive or Dilli Dilli. You are also a ten minute drive from the beautiful beaches of Bali and half an hour from the picturesque city of Retyhmno.

Wonderful Villa
A fantastic Villa which is well thought out and designed. It is much more spacious than you could imagine for a property that can sleep a large group if needed. Brilliant location. Last & not least a mention goes to the host/owner Joanna who is incredibly helpful and Thoughtful. Always available if required. Definitely one of the best hosts experienced, will visit again.

Wonderful villa
From the moment we arrived in Crete, we felt welcomed by Joanna. She asked us to keep her updated about the timing of our journey from the airport and was at the villa to welcome us with the keys and had supplied us with enough food to see us well into the next day, including a delicious evening meal. The villa is clean, spacious and had everything we could have thought we might need, including fresh herbs in the garden (and by the road up the hill), and bath and pool towels. We had a wonderful 2 weeks in the villa, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and exploring parts of Crete. Joanna was a wonderful host and was always available to answer queries. Thank you for a very memorable and happy holiday. We hope to return sometime in the future.

Wir waren für 10 Nächte zu Gast in der Villa Evanthia und haben es sehr genossen. Joanna ist eine wundervolle Gastgeberin, die uns mit Essen empfangen hat und stets zu erreichen war, wenn wir Fragen hatten. Die Villa ist entsprechend den Fotos eingerichtet, der Pool ist super und die Küche vollständig ausgestattet. Besonders zu empfehlen ist auch das Olivenöl, das Joanna und ihre Familie herstellen. Vielen Dank für einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt!

Beautiful villa in lovely surroundings
The villa is excellently equipped and very clean. The villa owner is very welcoming and provided us with an excellent welcome package and supplied a cooked dinner for our first night which was delicious. She was very kind and helpful during our stay. An exceptional host! Reptisland and Melidoni caves are within walking distance, great places to visit! Also, the wooden sculpture museum, about 30 mins drive away, is a joy to see.The local supermarkets are small and don't sell meat, but there are butchers in Perama who supply good quality products. A lovely relaxing place to recharge batteries.

A very peaceful mountain view setting, 5mins stroll to the local village/Taverna & shops.
The property was very clean, comfortable and very well stocked. Bath towels and pool towels were provided. Joanna was a fabulous host. She made a big pasta cook pot on our arrival, left some lovely home bicuits and stocked the fridge with basic necessities. The Villa has a lovely clean pool, bbq area, 3 bicycles, and a ping pong table, which we had lots of fun with! The Villa is just a 5 mins walk or so to a small local village, where there is a fabulous Taverna. There are a few shops there for necessities and gifts. The location is very peaceful and ideal to explore Crete and it's beaches...so I would definately recommend a car! The Host Joanna was very kind and during the week dropped in home made treats! We all had a lovely stay (2 adults, 3 children, ages 10/15 & 16) We would totally recommend Villa Evanthia! Aug 2023

***** fünf Sterne Villa & Gastgeberin in Melidoni
Wir, vier Erwachsene und fünf Kinder, haben sehr schöne zwei Wochen Sommerferien in der Villa Evanthia verbracht. Die Villa ist sehr gut ausgestattet, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Joanna ist eine ganz tolle Gastgeberin, die sich um alles kümmert, wenn gewünscht. Wir bekamen zu unserer mittäglichen Anreise eine große Auflaufform Pastitsio, der Kühlschrank war mit ein paar Startgetränken gefüllt, Obst und Gemüse war auch vorhanden. Während das Urlaubes kamen noch Chorta, selbstgemachte Holzkohle und ein Kuchen dazu. Melidoni bietet fußläufig eine super Taverne direkt auf dem Hauptplatz und zwei Minimärkte für das Alltägliche. Reptisland, Tankstelle sind einen Steinwurf entfernt. Höhle, Olivenölfabrik, Honigmuseum auch fußläufig oder keine fünf Minuten mit dem Auto. Schöne Strände sind in 15-25 Min. Fahrzeit zu erreichen. Alles in allem ein ganz toller Urlaub. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Perfect relaxing holiday
This is a wonderful villa the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Everything has been thought of to cater for your every need, from the amazing pool to outdoor seating areas. Joanna the host went above and beyond to make our holiday perfect and we're very grateful - nothing was too much. Hier kann man nur die volle und beste Bewertung geben, alles war perfekt. Am Tag der Anreise wurde uns ein Abendessen serviert, damit wir in Ruhe ankommen konnten und am Wochenende wurde uns Kuchen gebracht. Die Betreuung durch den Vermieter war angenehm dezent und sehr, sehr herzlich. Es wurde sich um alles gekümmert, das Haus und das Anwesen sind sehr sauber und sehr ansprechend. Alles in Allem blieb kein Wunsch offen. Die Lage am Dorfrand ist perfekt, man kann in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß in eine sehr gute und authentisch griechische Taverne zum essen oder zum einkaufen gehen, ansonsten ist aufgrund der Lage für Ausflüge, Stranderlebnis usw. ein Auto sehr zu empfehlen. Wir bedanken uns für einen wunderschönen Urlaub in Ihrem Haus, die herzliche Betreuung und empfehlen Sie sehr gerne weiter! Familien Vogt und Oswald

A wonderful stay
From the moment you land, Joanna is the best host you could ever ask for. She was there to greet us and welcome us to Crete and Villa Evanthia. Her hospitality and friendliness are second to none, even going as far as making and bringing us dinner on the first night and cakes during the week. The fridge was stocked with everything you could need for your first day or two and more. The villa was so well equipped, there was nothing we needed that we couldn't find in the kitchen. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The bedrooms were great, air conditioning worked well throughout. Wifi occasionally dropped out but totally to be expected. We bought a Fire Stick for the TV from the UK but didn't use much. The main attraction is the outside area and the pool. I could just gaze at it all day. The garden was beautiful and lit up like a Christmas tree at night which was awesome. The stunning surrounding mountains and views I miss more each day. The village is a lovely stroll away and has a couple of well stocked supermarkets and restaurants although we did mostly go to Lidl at Rethymno (25 mins away by car) and the old town there in the evening or Bali (15 mins by car). We visited inland (a gorge and villages) as well as the coast. Melidoni caves are just up the road and worth a visit, as is Joanna's family's olive oil factory which is fascinating and she will happily show you around. They are such a hard working family. If we had to find any type of criticism, it might be that the bushes in the garden could do with being a little higher to give that added privacy from the road which although only a small road, was the main route to the caves and therefore you sometimes get a coach, quad bikes or tourist train trundle past in high season. Location was a little too far to visit Chania or the beaches of Balos or Elafonisi for us but you could do it. We will just make the excuse to come back to Crete again! Loved our stay and will never forget Joanna and her family. Be sure if you stay here to feed the beautiful cat who visits daily with her petite little squeak for food, nicknamed Thea by us (I suspect she may have a home but she likes the attention!). I had read about and been told about the Cretan hospitality and friendliness but its hard to believe its true until you experience it for yourself. It really is and its wonderful. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home from home villa xx

Fantastic villa, great host
From the start the service that we received from Joanna was fantastic. We were welcomed with a delicious and satisfying hot meal, so welcome after a day of travelling. The villa was immaculate, a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of life, but close enough to be able to walk to tavernas and shops. The gardens and pool were well maintained and the shallows that visited to drink from the pool were a constant source of fun. We had an amazing two weeks.

Perfect holiday retreat
Absolutely wonderful villa. Can't fault it. The photos don't do it justice. Lovely peaceful location and views across the olive groves to snow capped mountains. The house is well equipped and spotlessly clean. Joanna was a perfect host greeting us with a home cooked meal as well as Easter treats throughout the week. Good central location within easy reach of North Coast towns and beaches, mountains, Knossos and the beautiful south coast. Didn't want to come home!

What a lovely place to stay-home from home
Truly amazing villa. Even better because of the hospitality shown to us by Joanna and her family. She has thought of everything to make it a home from home and still manages to find ways to add personal touches (from a welcome food hamper and evening meal on arrival to olive oil and raki on depature). She is truly skilled in the art of hosting guests and philoxenia (friend to the stranger). Only one change I would make, a mattress topper for those who like me, struggle with a bad back and then can opt for a less firm mattress. I would not hesitate in recommending the villa or Joanna's rental services. Thank you for creating and amazing place to create amazing memories.

Schöne Villa im historischen Ort
Die Villa ist modern eingerichtet, alles notwendige ist vorhanden und funktioniert einwandfrei. Die Vermieterin ist sehr zuvorkommend, das fängt damit an, dass zur Begrüßung bereits Grundnahrungsmittel, ein Ortskorb und eine erste Mahlzeit (Stifado = klassischer griechscher Rindfleisch-Eintopf) gestellt werden. Um das Objekt herum sind direkt keine weiteren Häuser, sodass man nicht durch Lärm gestört wird, allerdings liegt das Haus an der Straße, die zur Melidoni-Cave führt, die tagsüber ein geringes Aufkommen an touristischem Verkehr hat (Privat-PKW, hin und wieder ein Bus, Ausflugs"bahn" aus Rethymno). Der Ort selbst bietet 2 kleine Supermärkte und Restaurants. Das Objekt ist auf alle Fälle empfehlenswert. Insgesamt ist das Objekt

Wunderschönes Haus in ruhiger Umgebung
Wir haben in Ioannas Ferienhaus zwei wunderschöne Wochen mit unseren drei Kindern auf Kreta verbracht. Das Haus und der Garten lädt zum Verweilen ein. Die Raumaufteilung und Ausstattung ist ideal für größere Gruppen oder Familien. Nicht wenige Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Restaurants und Minimarkets gibt es ebenfalls vor Ort. Sowohl für die Anreise als auch zum Erkunden der Insel benötigt man einen Mietwagen. Absolut außergewöhnlich ist die Gastlichkeit, Hilfsbereitschaft und Herzlichkeit von Ioanna, die das übliche Maß bei weitem überschreitet. Das haben wir bei unseren vergangenen Reisen in dieser Art noch nie erfahren dürfen.

Spotless, well equipped, great location
A lovely location surrounded by mountain views. The villa had everything we needed and was beautifully clean. Joanna was a welcoming host and greeted us with a delicious home cooked meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. The check in could be improved with a self service key safe, but we had fantastic communication from the host and she extremely helpful in organizing covid related appointments. Melidoni has 2 well stocked shops and 2 restaurants, there is a little park for children and Repiland and Melidoni cave are both worth a visit. The villa is 15 minutes from Bali which has an array of beaches and 1.5 hours from the south coast which has more rugged less touristic beaches. A wonderful, relaxing family holiday and we would definitely recommend it!

Everything 5 star!
You really cannot fault this property or its owner, Joanna. From a home cooked meal on arrival to seeing you off when you leave, Joanna has really thought of everything and clearly cares about her guests, wanting to ensure they have the best holiday ever! The villa itself is spotless with an amazing pool and outdoor area too. You can stroll into the charming village where you can get your essentials from one of the shops, and you will also find two wonderful tavernas, we ate at both a few times, every meal was delicious and you are always welcomed with great enthusiasm! Everything has been thought of at Villa Evanthia, we really could not fault this villa or host at all, one of our best holidays ever, thank you Joanana, we will be back!

Peaceful house in Cretan counrtyside
This house is wonderful for families wanting a break from a busy life! The village of Meladoni is quiet and the people are friendly. Joanna is exceptionally hospitable and will help with any concerns during your stay as well as arranging taxis etc... There is a lovely beach at Bali around 15 mins drive away. The village is set in stunning mountains and it is possible to walk up the nearest one and see the mountain goats! The sounds of the church and goat bells alongside the crickets, birds and bees made us feel a world away from bustling city life. Do visit the village of Margarites and the monastery at Arkadi for a flavour of traditional Cretan culture. The bakery at Perema make amazing baklava and cakes, and their cafe next door will deliver to the villa. Don't hesitate to book this wonderful villa for a restorative family holiday, thanks again Joanna!

The villa was clean, spacious with pretty mountain views. Joanna's hospitality with a generours welcome package of food and drinks set the scene for the rest of our holiday, and best mille faille and olive oil ever! Within 15 minute drive to pretty Panormo or busy Bali beaches and 1 hour to Knossos Palace, there's plenty to do or not and chill by the quiet pool. Pretty Melidoni village is 5 mins walk you find cheap Olive & Carob restaurant try the delivious complimentery carob ice cream. Perema is 10 mins by car, 3 supermarkets, best one opposite small butcher on High St., fruit shop and patisserie. All the family complimented everything, will return and 100% recommend. Wonderful find!
We are two families just finishing our amazing holiday at villa evanthia. Rooms are spacious, pool and table tennis great for entertainment. Easy walk to village, short drive to some great beaches in Bali and above all our host Joanna couldn't do enough to ensure our trip was hassle free. Fully equipped kitchen, home cooked treats, and happy to accommodate our slightly earlier and later arrival and departure times. We would whole heartedly recommend this villa for any group looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun! Thankyou Joanna and family.

Fantastic place to stay
We've just spent a relaxing two weeks stay at the fantastic Villa Evanthia, before I booked I made sure I read the reviews and am pleased to say everything described is what we have experienced. Great pool, fabulous views & a very homely villa. Our host Joanna, even though her mother was poorly in hospital made us feel very welcome and looked after us by providing food on our arrival together with a fantastic desert & cake during our second week. When I found our kettle was not working I called Joanna who immediately purchased a new one. The local village is very welcoming with friendly locals, I would recommend sampling local food at the taverna Carob and Olive in Malidoni . Our favourite beach was in Bali, fourth beach along called Evita Bay. The biggest trip we made was to walk the Samaria Gorge which was a long day as you need to catch a ferry then coach back to your car but a great experience. We also travelled to Elafonisi which is a superb beach but took two and a half hours to get there but again worth the effort. One piece of advice, don't drink too much Raki if your driving as it goes straight to your head and there are some tight mountain roads to negotiate!! All in all we had a fantastic two weeks, best villa we have stayed in with the best ever host in Joanna. The Goodwin family, Ipswich UK, July 2019

Wir kamen als Touristen und gingen als Freunde
Wir (2 Familien: 4 Erwachsene und 3 Kinder) können uns den vorherigen Rezessionen nur anschließen. Das Haus sowie die Umgebung lassen keine Wünsche offen und bilden den perfekte Startpunkt für eine Erkundung der Insel. Melidoni selbst, ist ein zauberhafter und sehr authentischer griechischer Ort. Beim Abendessen im Ortskern kommt man schnell mit Einheimischen ins Gespräch und auch die Kinder fanden sofort Anschluss. Wir erlebten einen fantastischen Urlaub, indem wir jegliches Zeitgefühl verloren haben. Joanna und ihre Familie sind großartige Gastgeber, wie man sie sich nicht besser wünschen kann. Sie gaben uns Ausflugstipps, waren zu jeder Zeit erreichbar und gaben uns das Gefühl zu Gast bei Freunden zu sein. Sehenswert ist auch die Besichtigung der Familiengeführten Olivenölfabrik unweit der Villa sowie ein Besuch der "Melidoni Cave". Da wir bei der Anreise erst spät am Haus ankamen, stand für uns ein Abendessen und Frühstück für den nächsten Morgen bereit. Vielen lieben Dank nochmal dafür! Unsere Entscheidung, nächstes Jahr wiederzukommen, fiel schon kurz nach unserer Ankunft! Wir freuen uns auf nächstes Jahr!!! Liebe Grüße, Nico + Familie und Freunde

I am Joanna,the owner of Villa Evanthia and I have lived in Melidoni for the last twenty-five years.I was born and raised in the United States,we are actually a cocktail family.My father was from Melidoni and my mother is from Massachusettes.In 1990 we moved back to my father's roots.In 1998 I met my husband Manolis and started working with him at The Paraschakis family olive oil factory.In 2004 we decided to open our doors to the public and since then we have many visitors every summer to see the three different generations of olive oil production.In the year 2013 we built villa Evanthia and we really want to make all our guests not only feel comfortable but to feel at home!

Why they chose this property

The land that Villa Evanthia is built on belonged to my husband's grandmother and her name was Evanthia,so I thought that it was a great idea to name the villa after her.

What makes this property unique

I love Villa Evanthia because there is so much space in all the bedrooms and there are alot of windows,so you always have the light from the warm Cretan sun in the house.The kitchen is a great place to prepare a meal for the family,also very spacious.The atmosphere is very down to Earth,when you walk in the front door you feel at home.
