Travel back to 1914 in a vintage hillside cabin blocks from the National Park (STR Permit 20-NCD0082). Enjoy the sounds of the Big Thompson across the street or admire the high peaks while BBQing on the deck. A king master bedroom & private fireplace ensures a restful sleep. Elk, bear and wildlife abound. Two ottomans in the living room convert to comfortable single beds for 2 more guests.
- Walk to fishing, Nat'l Park
- 7 min drive to the Park visitor center
- 8 min drive to downtown
*** There are homes nearby in my neighborhood but it is quiet and peaceful; if you seek isolation you need to search about 20 minutes from Estes Park. Also, the living room fireplace now has a wood burning insert. There's still a window so you can see the flames, but it burns much hotter. ***

Onward!
My home is perfectly situated blocks from the boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park and across the street from the bank of the Big Thompson River. It's is more than 100 years old, lovingly cared for and meticulously restored. Though it predates most buildings in the Estes Valley (and even the Town itself) it's in great shape and has been been fully modernized for your comfort. I am a photographer by profession and have decorated the walls with my favorite images of the area. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!
You can watch the sun rise over the mountains from bed, eat breakfast while elk and deer mill about, hike into the National Park (either Beaver Meadows or to the top of Eagle Cliff Mountain) from the front door, and come home and watch the stars over the high peaks as you BBQ on the deck and listen to the sound of the river.
You will love my cabin's warmth, cleanliness, retro feel and authentic mountain vibe. It's perfectly appointed with comfy furnishings, a fully stocked kitchen, a washer/dryer, and countless amenities so you can feel at home during your mountain getaway in Estes Park.
Guests here have raved:
"... The cabin is an absolute delight! The location couldn’t be any better."
"... I travel the country frequently and have added this to my list of return trips."
"... Absolutely beautiful place, in an amazing location. Can't wait to stay again!"
"... In a nice location by the river and with great mountain views... looks exactly like the pictures posted!"
"... Beautiful setting and amazing host."
You will enjoy a living room with games, puzzles and a smart TV, a dining area with seating for 6, a vintage rock fireplace that will take you back in time, two screened in porches, and a big wrap-around deck with a picnic table and BBQ.
My favorite feature is the wraparound deck, which offers a straight view of Hallet Peak glistening in the morning sunrise and glowing beneath the Milky Way at night.
BEDROOMS
My home offers a massive master bedroom with a sofa, huge king bed, reading chair, interesting bookshelf, and mid-century modern fireplace. My favorite part of this bedroom is that it opens directly onto the huge wrap-around deck. Two ottomans in the living room convert to single beds, and they are quite comfy!
LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT
Deck - This is the hallmark of my home, and it's my favorite place to spend time. There’s a picnic table and BBQB there so you can relax, read, watch wildlife roaming around, stare at the mountains and stars, and just chill out and enjoy the peace and quiet. I promise that when the Milky Way rises, you’ll see more stars than most people ever have in their lives. You'll often feel like you're in a zoo; because the national park boundary is literally a few blocks away, herds of deer and elk are constantly roaming around.
Living Room - You'll pass much of your time here, either on two super comfy recliners or on a luxuriously soft leather sofa in front of the fireplace. Twinkly lights overhead light up the space, and a cool vintage Edison-bulb chandelier puts off a cool old-school vibe. There is no drywall -- it's all warm, cozy and inviting wood. My own art adorns the walls and a smart television hangs above the fireplace, so you can stream pretty much anything you’d like with your friends and family.
WiFi - I moved the home’s WiFi location to provide a centralized access point with no dead zones on the property. You’ll enjoy a strong connection for streaming, entertainment and work.
LAUNDRY & COOKING
Kitchen - The kitchen is fully stocked It features a big oven, a full sized fridge/freezer, a microwave, dishwasher, various small appliances, cutlery, dishes, utensils, bowls/pots/pans and virtually anything else you may need or want. It opens directly to the dining area so you can socialize as someone's cooking.
Laundry - There's a small utility room with a washer and a dryer that you are free to use. Please do! I try to keep the detergent stocked but don't guarantee it, so it may be wise to bring a little of your own. It is a VERY cramped space, so be warned. You can also use a small second shower in there.
This is a fully furnished, private home with total access for you. In addition to the home itself, you have access to 2 private off street parking spots, a neighborhood playground and picnic area, and an overflow/snow parking lot.
I live in Estes Park and know the town and the National Park like the back of my hand. I moved here in 2006 and am a photographer specializing in weddings and family portraits. I have spent the years since climbing, hiking, skiing, cycling and adventuring in and around Rocky Mountain National Park and am happy to offer advice on the best hikes, drinks, dining and adventures in the area. I'm just a quick text or email away! Otherwise please be in touch with my co-host and house manager Nancy who will also be helping a lot during your stay!
My historic cabin is along Highway 66 only a few short minutes from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It's a quiet area that sees little traffic, and the park boundary is a few blocks away. Additionally the property backs up to a nature easement. This means that elk, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, bears, raccoons, hummingbirds, and mule deer frequently pass by.
The Big Thompson River across the street can be fished once you get a permit from the state (available at local outfitters, etc).
VERY IMPORTANT: My place is in a small HOA, so there are a few rules that you are agreeing to when you book my place -- and they apply to my entire neighborhood, not just my house:
- No smoking ANYWHERE AT ALL in the neighborhood or inside or around my house.
- 15mph in the HOA.
- County quiet hours from 7pm to 7am. That means no parties or noisy socializing on the deck.
- No RVs, ATVs, motorhomes, campers or motorcycles
- No open fires
- No pets
- There is a wonderful playground for families about a block away in the neighborhood.
The National Park boundary is about two blocks away and the entrance station is reachable without having to brave downtown traffic. You can even hike into the park on foot. If you want to go downtown and don't want to deal with parking, the town offers a free shuttle service during the summer months with a stop about a mile and a half away.
NOISE
Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise level so I can maintain good relationships with my neighbors.
The house is equipped with NoiseAware, which measures sound levels and alerts me if things are too loud so I can give you a heads up. Rest assured that NoiseAware does not record content, it only measures noise levels so your privacy is 100% guaranteed. Guests are not to unplug it (I will also be alerted if that happens).
ADDITIONAL & NONPAYING GUESTS
Nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property. There is a motion sensitive security cameras on the outside of the building which will pick up nonpaying guests. There is an additional charge per person for your stay after the first two. The system will automatically calculate the total when you input your dates and guest count.
AIR CONDITIONER
Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. Thankfully mountain air blows down from the high peaks and will cool down the place quickly in the evenings if you open the windows.
HOUSE AND NEIGHBORHOOD RULES
My neighborhood has rules to ensure serenity and privacy. By booking you are agreeing to them: no pets, no RVs, no motorhomes, no motorcycles, no open flames, quiet hours from 7PM to 7AM, requirement to observe 15mph on neighborhood roads, and absolutely no smoking anywhere (not inside, not outside, and not even in the neighborhood!).
BEARS
Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area and can break in!
MINUT
We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located on the cieling in the kitchen.
THIS IS AN HOA. BY BOOKING YOU AGREE TO MY HOUSE AND NEIGHBORHOOD RULES:
