Great place and location

We’ve stayed in this cabin a few times and will again. Location is supreme, walk to everything, and quiet little street are what we like most. The hosts are top notch as well. Will be back. Thanks Cathy.

Cozy and spacious home!!

This cozy and spacious home kept us warm during the one of the coldest winters for the area! The host was very communicative during and after our stay. We would stay here again.

Inaccurate Listing!

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU RENT THIS PROPERTY! This is the first time we have given a poor review of a property we have stayed at, but we feel compelled to write an HONEST AND ACCURATE review of this property. The positives: it is spacious, was clean upon arrival, the kitchen is well stocked, and it is conveniently located. That is where the accuracy of the previous reviews end. The cabin is very outdated. It has a tired feel and look. The furniture is very uncomfortable...we couldn't sit for any length of time on the big green leather couch in the living room without our backs hurting. The most comfortable chairs were the dining room chairs and the black folding camp chairs upstairs. As I said, the house is very dated, especially the bathrooms. Both the dishwasher and washer/dryer were so loud, we could not have them running if we were in the same room. One of the first things you will notice is that there are over 40 notes and or labels stuck on furniture, windows, appliances, sinks, toilets, cabinets, doors etc throughout the entire house! They range from instructional to threatening and cover subjects from "DO NOT CHANGE THE SETTING ON THE REFIR! LEAVE ON 3...TRUST ME I KNOW THIS REFIR", "DO NOT USE THE HEAT SETTING ON THIS DISHWASHER...LEAVE AS IS!", "CLEAN THE OVEN! $50 EXTRA CHARGE FOR DIRTY OVEN!" "DO NOT REMOVE MAKEUP WITH WASH CLOTHES OR TOWELS. EXTRA CHARGE FOR STAINED LINENS!" And my personal favorite...."DO NOT PUT TAMPONS OR ANYTHING ELSE DOWN THE TOILET!". The tone of these ubiquitous notes was very unfriendly and inhospitable and contributed to the overall impression that we were unwelcome intruders. Adding to that impression, were the 12+ locked cabinets, closets, and doors throughout the house. An armore was supplied in each bedroom as the closets were all locked, but what this accomplished was to make each already small bedroom feel cramped and crowded. Communication with the owner was very poor. A day before we were to leave, I contacted the owner because we had received no check-in information. During our stay, the largest blizzard of the season hit and we were snowbound in the cabin for three days. The owner did not call or contact us to see if we needed anything or even to inform us of snow removal procedures. We wrote an email to the owner to express these concerns. We received a nasty reply filled with excuses, false accusations and name calling. An overall very unpleasant experience!

Fantastic house and location

Our family had a great time at this house - walking distance to Tahoe City's restaurants and amenities, and easy access to a number of ski areas and hiking trails. Beds were comfortable and Cathy was very responsive to messages.

Cozy Home Right By The Center of Tahoe City

My group and I had lovely time staying at this home. The house was very charming and had all the amenities we needed. The best feature for this home was how close it was to downtown Tahoe City. Whenever we wanted to walk down to the lake shore or grab a bite to eat, we were only a short walk away. Lastly, the homeowner was very responsive and was great in answering any inquiries I had when planning my stay.

Great place to stay in Tahoe City

The house was easy to find, clean as a whistle and had everything we needed. And the bear/fish/mountain themed decor made it fun. The only downside was the oven wasn't working. But we ate our meals out most of the time, so all worked out well. I would stay there again. And again. And again.

Cozy cabin, great location

We had a great stay. The location can't be beat! Walking distance to restaurants, safeway and cvs nearby to pick up food and forgotten items. The house is homey and cozy. The house is very clean and maintained well in spite of its age. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful holiday spot

The location of this wonderful home can't be beat! The house is a little dated, but we didn't lack anything during our Thanksgiving weekend. The beds are super comfortable, the water is hot, there is a walking-distance skating rink, dog park, variety of restaurants, and grocery stores.

Warm cozy cabin close to everything

Great place to stay! We could walk everywhere, to restaurants and shopping and the gorgeous lake path. Beds were more comfortable than my own. Nicely appointed cabin. Wished there was an hdmi plug in the living room TV to stream movies, but otherwise had everything we needed. Would love to come back here!

Wonderful Home / Very Responsive Owner/Highly Recommend

This truly is 1st Class Cabin. We spent our 2016 winter vacation there - 9 days. House is beautifully kept, very warm (even at below 0 temperatures), comfortable with a great porch outside and gated yard. We had our dog with us, and were comfortable letting him out to wonder around. Owner of this home, Cathy, is very responsive and proactive. We were impressed with her oversight and thoughtful follow up. House is walking distance to the Main Street in Tahoe City, so stores and restaurants are easy to walk to. House is stocked with movies and games and presents wonderful opportunity for family bonding time. We highly recommend this home.

PERFECT Location for Holiday Vacation

My family of 4 and Brother's family of 3 stayed here for our Christmas vacation. It was idyllic. Location was perfect as the snow came down - kids were able to sled from top of street to our front door (adult supervised of course). Going out to dinner was so easy - just walk around the corner to a selection of shops and restaurants! Winter or summer - it would be perfect b/c you can WALK to the beach! We had a magical Christamas w/ our kids and the fenced backyard was great to let our dogs out w/out worrying they would run off. It was a great house and was equipped with everything we needed - to make pies and full Christmas dinner of Prime Rib! Soft fluffy towels and high quality sheets - it was a great experience for our family! Having wifi and cable was a huge plus for snowed in nights! We would definitely return!

Spacious, comfortable and in town

We just got back from a three night, long weekend stay and the cabin is completely as advertised and photographed. It is spacious -- three full bedrooms and a loft bed -- and was clean and comfortable. Cabin is on a town street (more of a house than a cabin) so just a short walk to shops, restaurant and lakefront.

Roomy living area and excellent location. Walk to the lake and restaurants and shops. Parking directly in front of house makes loading/unloading luggage, groceries, etc. easy.

Great Spot

Our family of 4 recently stayed at this cabin and it was perfect. The place was clean, well equipped and walking distance to town. It was also close to the Tahoe Elementary school which my boys loved (ages 6 and 7 yrs)....lots of open space. The place has a back yard too, only thing that needs repair is a side fence (so if you have a dog you can't keep it back there). I would highly recommend this spot for a vacation. We loved it. Felt very at home!

Awesome house!

We really enjoyed our fall weekend stay. The house was cozy, well appointed, and very well cared for. The owners provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and we especially liked the comfortable beds and large dining area. We were very glad to be in the heart of Tahoe City - walking distance to the lake, shops, and restaurants. But the house and street were as quiet as more isolated places we've stayed - so we had the best of both worlds! .

Awesome Tahoe City Vacation

This cabin was in the perfect location for a Tahoe City vacation. We were able to leave our car the majority of the time as the cabin is literally 3 blocks from town. We ended up walking everywhere including Commons Beach and to a number of great restaurants. We loved watching all the traffic through Tahoe City with folks driving around looking for parking while we walked back and forth to town. We did a couple of day trips to Kings Beach and Heavenly Village and the cabin made a great base for everything we wanted to do. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed including DVDs, kids videos, games and towels for the beach. The kitchen was well stocked as well. Cathy was great with her communication and answering any questions we had. We will definitely rent again and would highly recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a centrally located cabin with easy access to Tahoe City.

Wow what a great place to stay! Our son was married on the Tahoe Gal in Tahoe City. We were able to use the house as a gathering place for friends and family coming from out of town. The location is wonderful we parked our cars when we got there and walked everywhere we needed to go. We floated the Truckee River, listened to music at Commons Beach, went jet sking & walked the trails from commons Beach. The grocery Store is three blocks away, what more could you ask for. We will be coming back to this home!!! The amenities are great, beds very comfortable and the house was very clean. The owners were very easy to work with and called back with any questions I had. Tahoe City is a beautiful area with lots to do and this house is the one to stay at!

We LOVED this home, all 3...

We LOVED this home, all 3 generations. It worked for all of us, the kids especially enjoyed the hammock out back and my parents loved sitting on the back deck reading and enjoying the serenity. The house was so clean and well stocked. We cooked every night and the kitchen was set up perfectly. Of course the location was excellent, near all our favorite spots. Thanks for a great week, we hope to be back.

We spent a wonderful week...

We spent a wonderful week in the cabin in August, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The cabin is lovely, and it has all of the amenities that one would hope for. In particular, the beds were exceptionally comfortable: so comfortable that I wrote down the details so that I could recreate this experience at home. Our three boys really enjoyed playing in the back yard. The best thing of all about the cabin, however is the location: while it is on a quiet, peaceful street, it is also a very short walk (even for our little guys) to everything that Tahoe City has to offer. Our kids especially enjoyed walking to Commons Beach each day, rafting down the Truckee river, and riding bikes along the nice Truckee river trail. On our next trip to Tahoe City, we would definitely want to stay here again.

David and I live in the Bay Area in Marin County and we love our house in Tahoe. We try to get up there as much as we can -usually once or twice a month. We both love to ski. Our favorite place to ski is Squaw Valley. David grew up in Greenbrae, CA and I grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. We both love to travel and our favorite places to go are New York City, Hawaii and Europe. Tahoe is great summer, winter, fall or spring. Our favorite restaurant in Tahoe City is Wolfdales and we love the spa at Squaw Creek. We wish you all a Great Vacation. David & Cathy

Why they chose this property

We wanted to buy another house and decided that Tahoe has the best of everything. We searched for 8 months before we bought this house. And we were lucky to find this house. The location is just perfect-we can walk to all our favorite places. Restaurants, shopping and the beach. We have a wonderful beach in Tahoe City. Our house is very pretty with pine plank floors and pinewood cathedral ceiling. Our living room looks out onto the mountains and we have ceiling to floor windows. The house is really well insulated and is warm & cozy with a very quiet heater and a beautiful River Rock Hearth

What makes this property unique

My favorite place to be in the summer is in the hammock in our backyard. We have the perfect spot between two trees. In the winter I love lying on the couch in the living room watching the snow fall. It's warm & cozy and beautiful to watch. I am never happy to leave this house. In the winter we love to ski all morning and then come home and relax. In the summer Tahoe City has great activities. My favorite are the concerts on Sunday evenings at Commons Beach. On Thursday mornings there is a farmers market on the beach and Wed nights they show movies at dusk. It is the perfect place for a great vacation!
