Peaceful

The cabin is very private and has beautiful view in the morning. Very clean and nice accommodations. Internet was not working when we were there and there is no cell coverage which was actually very nice. My wife and I enjoyed our stay!

Amazing place

I was shocked by the bad review of this place, because we were here November 2012 and thought the places was amazing! The owners were very helpful, the place is gorgeous inside and we had everything we needed. I would come back again and recommend it to my friends and family.

Poplar Lodge near Great Smoky Mtn Park

This beautiful cabin was well appointed, very very clean, great porch overlooking a mountain view, and pretty convenient to Bryson City and Smoky Mtn Park. For someone wanting privacy in a wooded mountain setting as we were, --perfect. The driveway to the cabin would be difficult for a low slung sports car. We really liked staying at Poplar Lodge and would do it again.

Overall nice cabin. Very clean.. some bulbs need replaced and the hot tub was not enjoyable as it was very slimy and nasty. I would recommend if you want food to look early. Was a good ways out. Overall i give it a 4 star.

An Unforgettable Stay – Perfect in Every Way!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Poplar Lodge, and it truly exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the immaculate condition of the home and the thoughtful touches that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location was ideal, providing stunning views and easy access to Bryson City and Fontana Lake. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery each morning and ending our days with a relaxing evening on the porch. The cabin was spacious, well-decorated, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen had all the essentials, making it easy to prepare meals, and the cozy living area was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. What really stood out to us was the host’s attention to detail. From the soft linens to the well-stocked amenities, it was clear that they put a lot of care into ensuring we had an exceptional experience. Communication was seamless, and the check-in/check-out process was a breeze. We personally had the opportunity to meet Thurman and Freddie (the owners) and they are the sweetest people on the planet. Ginger was phenomenal and was always responsive before, during and after our stay. I highly recommend Poplar Lodge and Whispering Pines Deluxe Cabins to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. We can’t wait to return! Mike and Jennifer AUG 2024

Wonderful cabin, in a great location!!!

This cabin is so beautiful, the fireplace and woodwork in the cabin is awesome. The cabin is convenient to both Bryson City and the NOC, each only about 10-15 min drive. The cabin is very peaceful with all of the amenities of a larger cabin. There is another cabin not far away, a little ways up the drive, but still felt very secluded and private, we didn't even see the cabin with the lush trees and forest. The owners were so nice and checked in with us after a bad storm to ensure we had power and that everything was OK. We would definitely stay in this cabin again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Swain County Cabin Rental

Everything was exactly as described. Loved the remote / private feel to the cabin. Process for check in was easy, everything was clean and working. Communication with the owner / manager was excellent. They provided a GPS link that took us directly to the cabin (cant always trust GPS in the mountains). The only thinkg i would say is please note that the last 1/2 mile or so of road is actaully gravel road. Did not matter to us, we actually enjoyed the rough mountian road vibe it had (we were in our Jeep), but in case you are driving a low profile sports car, just wanted to share that. Your sports car will make it, just go easy.

Great stay

My husband and I recently stayed at Poplar Lodge this past weekend for our 14 year anniversary. We had an amazing time. Ginger was very helpful from making the reservation to getting to the cabin. We had a little trouble getting to the cabin, but Ginger stayed on the phone until we found it. Once we found it...the directions were right on cue....not sure how we had trouble! The craftsmanship and detail in the cabin was amazing. The hot tub was warm and waiting for our arrival. Bryson City is a charming town and we loved walking through the downtown area and visiting all the shops. The town was so friendly!! We will be back and hopefully sooner rather than later!

Wonderful and welcoming house with all the amenities.

This house and property were beyond expectations. The owners have spared no expense to make sure their guests are happy and pleased with the house and surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay and had reassurance from the owners if we needed anything, just let them know about it. We will gladly stay at this rental in the future. The area had every conceivable entertainment and recreation. Our Labrador (Maggie) was treated as one of the Family, which she is for us. We are looking forward to a stay at Poplar Lodge in years to come. On a scale, this would be rated 5 stars. Sincerely, Lauren & Wayne Brock

Great rafting get-a-way

We arrived into the area LATE Friday evening and got turned around on our GPS. I hated to call the rental agent because of the late hour, but I did and guess what SHE ANSWERED!! She even offered to meet me in town at 11:30 at night and personally take me to the cabin. Talk about customer service. (Note:once I put in the correct address we arrived NO problem!) We stayed with our 4 kids in the cabin and felt right at home. The cabin was very clean on arrival and the hot tub was ready and waiting for us after a long drive. The kids enjoyed the pool table and corn hole boards. There is a nice little outside fire pit area and plenty of wood on hand. It was only about 10 minutes to the NOC area and about 15 minutes to the tubing river. BONUS*** with 4 kids...their was a laundry room!!! I would recommend this to friends and family.

Nice but not as described

Let me start off by saying that this is a nice house, nice area, and the rental company was pleasant to work with. There were a lot of things from the pictures and description that are misleading that I feel everyone should be aware of though. This is NOT a log cabin as stated. It is a HOUSE with wood planks. It is drywall with planks nailed to it spaced about 6 inches apart so you see plank, drywall, plank, etc. It is NOT luxury. It is nice, but a lot imitations used. Plastic counters and table top made to look like granite, particle board used for bathroom wall, etc. Most important to me was the boasting of 18 acres and the picture of the porch view. I assumed that meant it was private and looked as if there was a big, cleared yard in front. We chose this place 100% for the privacy and land I thought we were getting. I have a 100lb stranger aggressive dog that likes to run off leash. What looked to be cleared land in the pic is completely overgrown with trees and brush that would have taken years to grow. There is another house slightly higher than you. We could see everything going on at night, so I assume they could see into ours and there are no living room curtains to close. My dog had a run in with the neighboring renter going for a walk past our house. There were also a lot of problems during our 5 day stay. If you plan on cooking you need to bring some cookware. We had to go buy a pan because the 2 that were there are old and scratched up and can't use them without losing half your meal due to sticking. No cookie sheet either. DVD player never played a whole movie. We attempted to watch 3 movies, all straight out of the packaging and would mess up halfway through. We never finished a single one. The pool/ping pong table is not inside. It is outside. It is completely useless during our winter stay. The grill ran out of gas in the middle of cooking pork chops our last night. We had only used it 1 time for 2 steaks before that. Upon check in, we were told there was a full load in dishwasher that didn't get put away. We had to do it and rewash a lot of them. The gas fireplace is on a max 20min timer. It was a pain for a romantic evening. I've never had a problem or written a bad review for any VRBO we've stayed at, but there were too many things to ignore this time.

Beautiful cabin

The cabin was just how it was listed. Beautiful and clean. I don't recommend doing much cooking as the utensils and space to prepare food is very limited. We were just trying to cook some eggs for breakfast and the pans were not in good shape. I needed a strong scrubby to clean before using and all I had was dish rag. The microwave over the stove is still non-functioning. I read comments from previous renters about the microwave and I really thought this would have been replaced before we got there. A small microwave sits on the very limited counter space. They have salt /pepper and that is all in the cabin. You have to bring everything that you need to cook with. I have stayed in many cabins and they have supplied Pam spray, spices etc. Its the little things that make your stay more enjoyable, stress free and memorable. The mountain view was very limited. The hot tub was nice but the jets were not strong. We really needed the jets after hiking all day. The place is very nice otherwise. Thanks for allowing us to stay at your cabin

Couple Get Away

My husband and I enjoyed our time exploring the Smokey Mountains and the Bryson City area. The cabin fit our needs perfectly and had everything we needed. We hiked, rented a boat at Lake Fontana, hung out by the Little Tennessee River near the cabin, and enjoyed eating/shopping in Bryson City. The driveway to the cabin is steep but manageable. I recommend doing all your grocery shopping on the way in and to grab a bag of ice. Once you get to the cabin you don't want to have to leave to go back into town. The ice maker worked but was a bit slow. Of course it was also hot when we visited and we like our drinks cold. The internet worked but only in certain spots in the cabin. The owners were quick to respond about any questions we had. Nice place to get away from everything and enjoy nature!

The perfect mountain retreat

We had a wonderful stay at Poplar Lodge. It was exactly what we were looking for to have a relaxing spring break. We really enjoyed staying on the North Carolina side of GSMNP as it was much more low-key and not nearly as touristy as the Tennessee side. Bryson City, about 20 minutes from the cabin, was a great little town. The cabin was exactly as referenced on the VRBO site. Our 6-year-old enjoyed the table games, time in the hot tub and star gazing (so many shooting stars!). The driveway into the cabin is no joke, and thankfully, our SUV handled both going out and coming in well (we didn't attempt it at night). We had some communciations with the owners throughout our stay, mostly around the fireplace pilot light going out on account of high winds, and everything was taken care of efficinetly. All in all, we highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Nice cabin for a quiet get away

Loved the cabin itself but the description of the available games was a little misleading. Was expecting a game room with pool table and ping pong table not a 3 in 1 mini table on the back porch. Corn hole and hot tub was fun though!
