Ladies Getaway

Riverside Retreat

Came up to the Soo for hockey state championship. Not wanting to stay 4 days in a hotel we took a chance on a Vrbo. Riverside Retreat did not disappoint and exceeded our expectations! Comfy, cozy, view was exceptional. Location was perfect and Marc was an attentive host!Great weekend overall!

Anniversary getaway

I stayed here last year in August for the first time. The view and the waterfront access to see the freighters passing by down the river is excellent. This year I was a bit disappointed in the cleanliness of the bathroom upstairs and the kitchen overall. The appliances are worn as is some of the furniture. The carpet had stains upstairs and down. Freighter Paradise

This was our first VRBO ever and I can tell you, I doubt we will ever land a house as perfect as this one was. My parents are in their mid to late 70s and loved every moment of it. My husband had never been to the SOO and wants to go back and my 8 yr old son is obsessed with freighters, wanting to work on them someday perhaps. The house was immaculate when we arrived. Everything we needed was provided. The kayaks and swimming area provided recreation in-between freighter visits. We hope to come back again next summer and do it all over again. Thanks again Marc!

Third Stay - Never Disappoints

This is our third year staying at this property and it was just as incredible as prior years. The home is always clean and provides great amenities including a fire pit and the kayaks (our favorite part). Marc has always been a wonderful host, quick to respond to any questions.

Watching Freighters

The place was beautiful. We had been looking for somewhere that we could watch the freighters and relax. We found this gem. It was just like described but better. We will definitely visit again.

Beautiful and cozy!

So, I wanted to tell everyone that all the positive reviews don't do this property justice. The gentleman who owns this is overly generous with the spread he presents his clientele. I mean words and pictures do not do this property justice with the beauty that surrounds you while you are there. I had so many plans to go places and see things while I was there, but it was so comfy and amazingly beautiful that we often just sat and watched the ships pass by. I wish I had the time to stay a few more days. When we weren't enjoying the dock or the big window view of the river, we would play board games (provided by host) which was really welcome considering that my kids never play board games when we are at home. The kayak's kept us busy too and the convenience to the locks and grocery stores yet still being so quiet was amazing. I know I'm leaving out so many positive experiences that its just hard to describe how perfect this property was. Hands down, if you see all the stars in the rating, go ahead and add another two stars to those 5 star reviews cause you will not be disappointed in staying here! Believe me it's WAY better than my words can describe!

Perfect/relaxing place to watch freighters

The Soo locks were nice to see but with a bunch of little kids it was nice to have this place to watch shops go by as they came and continue to play in the sand instead of standing with a crowd at the locks. The home was clean and easy to check in/out. The beds were comfortable and the home was spacious for our big family. We loved having a few games to choose from to play together. It was the perfect stop for our family on our UP road trip.

Relaxing at it's best!!

What a fantastic stay at Riverside Retreat! Everything was well stocked from the bathrooms to the kitchen. The location was perfect and we all enjoyed sitting outside to watch the ships that went by. Many nights we were up much later than usual waiting for just one more ship to go by! I have already recommended the property to multiple friends and would love to stay again sometime.

So relaxing!

Our stay at this residential retreat on the St. Mary's River in Sault Ste Marie MI was one of the most relaxing and comfortable experiences my husband and I have ever had at a VRBO. It's unique location provides viewing of the Great Lakes freighters coming up and down the river day and night. All the amenities needed for our comfort were provided by our attentive host Marc. We thank him for his hospitality!

Best Place on the River!

This location is perfect for boat watching. The perfect size for a couple people. Great patio to sit in the sun and read or chat. Very cool fire feature for the evenings too!

In town for a highschool event at the college. Waaay better than any hotel and well worth the extra 5 to 10 minutes to get into town. Very peaceful.

Celebration getaway

Beautiful, clean, river getaway. We had a wonderful time tracking the ships and enjoyed watching the variety of birds on the river. The view was amazing and a nice selection of restaurants was a convenient few minutes drive away. Would love to stay there again.

Beautiful location to watch the ships

Sure wish we had a couple of days to spend here. The home was wonderful, the location perfect for watching the ships pop out from behind the trees, we loved watching the ducks and the eagles. Close proximity to Sault Ste. Marie made it nice. My husband loved the complimentary wine so much, he came home and ordered a case. We will plan on staying here again.
