Amazing Stay

The whole experience from beginning to end was fantastic. Suzie was really welcoming and both her and her family as well as any staff we saw were really nice. The property exceeded our expectations and the website does not give it the justice deserved, always difficult with photos I know. It was a central place to visit all areas and the property was equipped enough for not only 8 of us but for other family to visit and sit out in the spectacular gardens. Truly wonderful 😀

Outstanding!!!!

Even before we arrived the service from Suzie was second to non. Every email answered swiftly and instructions were easy to follow. The greeting when we arrived was very personal and made us feel at home immediately (the amazing scones left in the fridge also helped) The property itself is amazing, its like home from home, only better. I’ve never stayed anywhere that is so well stocked with glasses, cookwear, plates etc. The grounds are unbelievable and you can really get a sense of how much love and hard work has gone into making them this way. I can’t really convey into words how perfect this place is. We had an amazing holiday and would have happily stayed forever!!!! If you’ve found this property don’t even bother looking for anything else, nothing better exists. We will definitely be visiting again!!!

A lovely week at The Pavillion

The Pavillion is a lovely property with all furniture, fittings and decoration to a very high standard. The building itself is great in its own right but when combined with the fabulous garden and grounds it really has the wow factor and you feel a lot of love has gone into everything. Host Suzie was absolutely brilliant and made sure we felt very welcome in her lovely home. There were three generations of our family on holiday (ages 20's to 80's), we all had a great time and came away feeling totally refreshed. For days out we went to Cayton beach which is fantastic (but watch out for the steep walk down to the beach), Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and walked along the Cleveland Way from Cayton to Filey which was exhilarating in the strong breeze. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Excellent cottage and exceeded expectations

Our stay at the Pavilion was amazing! The cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The grounds were breathtaking and my boys absolutely loved exploring all the different areas and features. Thanks to Suzie for making us feel so welcome and being so helpful before and during our stay. Can't wait to return again soon.

Loved our stay!

Had a lovely week staying here. Suzie was so welcoming on our arrival and very helpful if we needed anything while we were there . The house was beautiful with lots of lovely little touches that really added to the experience of our stay. The property is furnished to a very high standard and has everything needed for a large group. Lovely to wander round the gardens and enjoy the peace and quiet. The location is perfect for visiting places such as Filey, Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Cayton Bay is also worth visiting too. We would definitely stay here again. Beautiful house in a great location

Beautiful house in a great location with peaceful and amazing views, just what we needed for a relaxing family holiday. Close to all the beaches, Scarborough, Whitby & Filey and York was less than an hour away, even Cayton beach is 30 mins safe walk with a pushchair on a paved walkway. The property was spotless clean with beautiful and tasteful furnishings, but comfortable with everything you needed. The attention to detail by Suzie made the stay very enjoyable, all the family were very impressed with all the en-suite bedrooms and large kitchen & lounge area. The exterior was also very comfortable with a large decking area and patio to the side all with excellent, comfortable garden furniture. The owner didn’t mind us walking around the gardens and lake area and also the stables which was very relaxing after trips out. The Pavilion far exceeded our expectations, the owner, Suzie answered all our questions immediately to ensure we were happy before booking, she was very responsive and greeted us on arrival, showing us around, making us feel very welcome and relaxed. I would rate this property very highly, would recommend the stay wholeheartedly. We had a great family stay, the property is in a lovely relaxing location with lots to do in the area. EdSz

Perfect Pavilion House

What a wonderful house in a great location. The attention to detail Suzie has given to making it a real home away from home is outstanding. Not to mention all the lovely treats that welcomed us on arrival. Our family have so enjoyed our time at the Pavilion House and the girls really enjoyed the swing and your beautiful horses. We shared a very special time here that we will always remember. Hope we can return again in the future. Thank you so much Suzie for everything.

Stunning

Beautiful property with amazing views. Suzie has put her heart and soul into everything, including the contents of the cupboards. Nothing was too much trouble, we only wish we could have stayed for 7 nights instead of 4 but the Canadian visitors' timetable did not allow us to. Suitable for both young and older families with easy access to the coast, cafes and supermarket. What you see in the picture is true and fulfils all expectations.

Another Great Stay

This was our fourth stay at the Pavilion - we had previously been with another 3 couples but this time it was a family holiday with children and grandchildren. The property continues to be first class, it is spotlessly clean with beautiful furnishings and the attention to detail is second to none. The large decking area and patio are great for the children to play on and they loved seeing the horses. As usual Suzie made us all very welcome - we almost feel like extended family. We had great days out and then back to the Pavilion to make dinner and sit out on the large decked area - it was great to sit out and use the barbecue. We had a great week with time spent on the beach at Scarborough, a visit to the Alpamare Water Park and Peasholm Park, Playdale Farm Park a walk through Glen Gardens in Filey and along the promenade. Our family were all very impressed with both The Pavilion itself and with the many things to do locally. Thanks again Suzie.

Amazing place to holiday

The Pavilion far exceeded our expectations. The interior was immaculate, with many loving and thoughtful touches. Everything we could want had been provided. The owner, Suzie, put herself out to contact us before our arrival, then made herself available the minute we arrived. She lovingly showed us around, and deserved the pride she showed in what she has achieved. The grounds around The Pavilion provided our granddaughters with plenty of entertainment. The location was ideal for visiting several seaside resorts. I cannot rate this property highly enough and hope we will be lucky enough to return.

A beautiful house in a stunning location

We had the most wonderful time at The Pavilion House. This is truly a very special place. It's not just a holiday home, it's a home that's been made with love, care and time and it certainly shows. We stayed over New Year and had the best time ever. There was seven of us including our 10 year old son who really didn't want to leave. We didn't venture out much as the aim was to spend time together but we did pop to the local pub The Star on the Saturday afternoon. It's nothing posh but we were made to feel really welcome and the boys played pool. We cooked some lovely meals in the fabulous kitchen that has everything you need and more. Sitting around the large dining table on an evening eating, drinking, chatting and laughing was what it was all about. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Suzie but we were greeted by her Mum, Sandra who was just lovely. Suzie had very thoughtfully left us lots of little treats - thank you very much! The Pavilion was decorated with Christmas lights inside and out and a little Christmas tree. There was so many little touches all over The Pavilion.....the attention to detail was superb. I can't praise this place enough. It's stunning, first class accommodation that surpassed all our expectations. Everything is of superior quality. Suzie has created a place that's warm and welcoming.....its the sort of place that hugs you when you arrive! We'll be back without a doubt.....my son would never forgive me!! Thanks Suzie for helping to make the start of 2017 extra special. Lots of love Jo & family

Another great stay!

This was our third visit to The Pavillion as a group of friends who have an annual reunion. As always we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Suzie and her daughter Dani were as usual, the perfect hosts. First class accommodation, spotlessly clean and beautiful furnishings and attention to detail second to none. A lovely location and lots to do in the surrounding area. Would most definitely recommend The Pavillion and we look forward to another visit. Many thanks to Suzie and Dani!

We had a lovely week at The Pavillion with another couple with small children. The house is beautiful and well finished and furnished with everything you need for a stress free break away. A Five Star Oasis

Our main requirement for a week's self-catering holiday, in early April, was four ensuite double rooms for all the party. Having searched extensively in North Yorkshire for such a property, we were delighted when up popped The Pavilion at Killerby Hall. On entering the driveway, we could see we were somewhere special. The setting was beautifully landscaped and an invitation to relax in style! We were immediately given a warm welcome by Suzie, the owner, who showed us around the property. It was everything the listing description had said and more . . . a beautiful place to spend a holiday, with every attention to detail and unexpected treats to discover! Suzie is rightly proud of The Pavilion and we would not hesitate to recommend it. None of us had visited the area before and there was no shortage of interesting places to visit on foot, by bus, by car or even steam train. There was so much to do, we shall have to return! It was wonderful to unwind at the end of the day in an open plan living area, where whoever was on 'duty' could be part of the general group. We even managed to sit outside one sunny afternoon for tea & cakes and could easily imagine summery long evenings spent outside. Thank you, Suzie, for a wonderful experience at The Pavilion!

About the host

Hosted by Suzie Bushby

Host profile image
My family and I became the owners of Killerby Hall on the 27th November 2009. At that time the Hall and Pavilion were used as holiday accommodation and many of the out buildings were let to trades people to maximize the commercial potential of the site as a whole.

I think it would be fair to say that the site hadn’t been ‘loved’ for quite some time and the Hall and Pavilion felt a little tired.

Despite the Winter of 2009/2010 bringing possibly some of the most harsh winter conditions the country has experienced in many years we did our best to clear the site of builder’s trade waste and general debris that had been left by the tenants occupying the stables and garages.

Since this time the whole family has worked hard to maintain and further progress the site. We are still a work in progress but hopefully our former guests, may who return year after year, will testify to it being a lovely place to stay.

Why they chose this property

So here we are, the proud owners of Killerby Hall and what a task lies ahead of us. As a family we hope to make The Hall our ‘forever house’ and as such we anticipate the Hall to be a ‘work in progress’ for many years to come. The same can be said of the garden. We have so many ideas of how we would like to reinstate the elegant gardens that used to surround the Hall but time and money will play a part and so progress will be made as and when we can. ‘A labour of love’ I believe they call it. We also have plans to surround the Pavilion with a lovely garden space for the exclusive use of our guests.

In the short time we have owned Killerby Hall we have tried to make the Pavilion house as lovely as we could whilst working within the spaces that the planners had allowed the previous owner to have and we sincerely hope you feel at home whilst away from home.

What makes this property unique

We have tried very hard to make The Pavilion House feel like a lovely home rather than a holiday let and the enjoyment of our guests is paramount.

We believe that our location is tranquil yet close to all the amenities that the area has to offer.
