The property was accessible to the heart of town. The rooms were accommodating, but you'll need a box fan for the smallest room, as it did not have A/C. Watch out for the balcony, as the foundation was slanted and one of the windows were broken. Overall, looking at other properties in the area, this one was far better.
The house was overall clean and comfortable. The owner was very easy to work with and very friendly. My only recommendation would be to add an additional air conditioner because the one unit did not keep the property cool enough. Otherwise the stay was overall very pleasant.
The beds are comfortable and the place is clean. Not the nicest decor. Be warned there is no air conditioning and 1 box fan and the air circulation is terrible. There was an unexpected heat wave the weekend we were there, host should have planned for this. We arrived at 10pm to a stifling hot apt
The portable ac is covered with duct tape from failed repairs, my husband spent an hour improvising to get the hose attached. It worked ok, but we were lucky my husband is tech savvy. There was one box fan for 3 other rooms. Don't stay here if temp is over 70 degrees.
The listing didn't make it clear that the owner, who lives downstairs, only has access to his living quarters by going through the space that is for rent. He is a nice guy - but it was odd that he needed to call me to ask me to be sure not to accidentally lock him in the basement.
House is been renovated. Owner didn't send access code beforehand because he knew nobody will stay there. He was hard to contact. He was contacted After VRBO specialist intervened. Then he provided us access code to check in but the unit he provided to us is located in the first floor and is occupied as well by another person whom got into the house at the same time we did. All these happened while we are on the phone with the owner who is trying to mellow us and persuading us to stay with the stranger under the same roof. What a mighmare
The property location is great and the owner of the property seems friendly. But the communication prior was not great. He takes a while to respond via messages and was not 100% clear on anything. The page actually is for two separate living spots in the house. 1st floor and 2nd floor. Photos on site are meshed together and you do not know what you are really getting. He picks what floor you get the day of your arrival. I asked if he lives there and he ignored the question to fond out he lives in the basement, and we stayed on the first floor and also found out that we share the floor with a permanent resident of the house who the owner also rents to. Which we were not informed. The house is currently undergoing renovations on the 1st floor and there is blue painters tape everywhere and it was filthy and the sofas are all ripped up. I actually dusted while I was there because of how dirty it was. I feel like he is just renting out to pay for his renovations. He didn't leave any information on the checkout process and we had to through our own garbage out. He didn't leave the Wi-Fi password anywhere and would rather tell me over the phone then message me it in what there should've been an pre-arrival message. Which there was non. He did leave some alcohol for us on arrival which was nice and since you share the newly renovated kitchen with the tenant he has some barriers to block it off. The coffee machine did now work and one actually had mold in it. There are also no mugs or cups. We only found plastic party cups in the hallway closet. The fridge is shared with the tenant. So make sure you don't take his stuff thinking the owner of the property left some nice welcome things for you. I feel like if the renovations weren't a thing and the place was clean then I would take a stay on the 2nd floor to see what its like but idk if it is worth the surprise.
It was a friendly, convenient location for the Ellenville area. Beautiful renovated older house and grounds. Only needs some final home & kitchen touches to make it more livable for an extended stay.
The apartment is lovely. Though it shares an entrance from the street with the house, a separate door leads upstairs so it feels completely private. There is a great eat-in kitchen that is well-equipped and leads to an outdoor patio. The snacks left in the kitchen were a very thoughtful touch. The rooms are all very spacious and the bed was super comfortable. There is only one air conditioner, but it is portable so it can be easily moved. This was a must in the summer heat. There were only two little issues - 1.) The address on the VRBO listing was incorrect, so finding the house was tricky especially since we arrived at night and 2.) There is a strong scent of air freshener. Overall it was a great stay, and neither issue really affected our enjoyment!
Loved this 2 bedroom place in downtown Ellenville. I found Ellenville a friendly, blue collar town and felt very safe at Morris place. He communicated well and had the place stocked with amenities like water, shampoo, soap etc. A great bakery/cafe around the corner within walking distance. Beautiful mountain just to east with historic village of Cragmoor at top. Wonderful scenery. Hope to stay here again!
