Not well maintained or clean
The owner was in good communication. She let us drop our bags early. The location is ok as Chelsea is lovely. Bear in mind you are going to have to take the bus to the subway to get anywhere you are going so plan on 45 minutes. The bus does stop right in front but it took us 45 minutes to get everywhere. The apartment is not well maintained. The lamp by our bed was covered in dust. The wall baseboards are covered in grime, they left us wet towels drying on a rack and pubic hair on the bathroom floor as well as trash in the garbage can. The owner mentions the carpets have spots but that doesn’t describe them. The carpets are filthy and probably haven’t been replaced in 15 years. The walls are a mess and there were cobwebs. We were booking last minute for London at half term and this was available at a price we wanted to pay so I guess you get what you book last minute.
They didn’t even leave us any soap for the shower and the hand soap was almost out in the bathroom. They didn’t do anything special for your arrival. Often when I arrive at a rental, the host has left a bottle of wine or a loaf of bread . There was open food on the counter like an open box of oatmeal and all the tea boxes were wide-open. It was just gross. There wasn’t very much toilet paper either. It was disheveled.
