Nice quiet cabin on the river - perfect "fishing vacation" spot
Nice cabin and lot. Very good private access to Niangua River. Road to property off paved road not as bad as some earlier posts, typical of the area. Excellent communication with owner, she replied to all my emails within hours/minutes. All in all, very satisfied, would stay there again.
The cabin was great. Spacey, awesome screened in porch with ceiling fans and lights was our favorite space.
If you have more than 5 ppl, take some extra plates. Also pack an extra roll of toilet paper (only 1 there) and paper towels (none available). But everything else to cook with and BBQ is available. BBQ is propane so no use to pack charcoal.
Make sure you take a bunch of bug spray. The fire pit is probably 30 yds from the cabin. The yard is beautiful but a lot of chiggers being right there by the creek (I know that’s a given!).
The road access is as others say in their reviews, pretty bad. Sonia, a blade would be an awesome purchase for you guys!! My husband says when we come back he’s bringing his to fix the road, lol! It takes a good 20 mins to get down the lane. The potholes are deep.
That and the WiFi are our only complaints. If you don’t mind no tv or cell usage during your stay, then you are golden. Take along dvds if you want to watch something. We never could get enough WiFi strength to run the Roku or login to our Prime or Disney+ accounts on our rainy nights and morning. But no biggie. There is a deck of cards and Connect4. We took more board games and cards so enjoyed our time away from tv and cell phones.
It is a 1.5 drive to a canoe rental place.
We loved the cabin and our stay!!
We recently had the misfortune of staying at this property, and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. Sharing my stay to help others avoid my misfortune.
Let's start with the access road - it was an absolute nightmare! I've driven on my fair share of country roads, but this one took the cake. Massive potholes, deep ruts, and gigantic rocks made it feel more like an off-road adventure than a simple drive to our accommodation. Unless you own an SUV or a truck, steer clear! Trust me, the 15-minute drive (and that's no exaggeration) was enough to make anyone fuming. We were practically trapped on the property because going out meant enduring that awful road not once, but twice. We even timed it, and the fastest we could manage was a whopping 9 minutes for just a 1.5-mile drive. To add insult to injury, our arrival was greeted by pitch darkness. Not a single light was on, despite prior communication about late check-in and request for the key box code. And guess what? The entire place was left unlocked! Can you imagine the sense of unease we felt entering a dark, unlocked property? Far from a warm welcome we expected. But that's not all. We booked for 3 nights, with 6 people, and do you know how many small mini bars of hand soap were provided? Just 1. Along with just 1 trash bag in the kitchen. If access to amenities are as difficult as they are here extra items would go a long way in hospitality.
Future guest deserve better.
This family getaway was super fun for our family. The Niangua River was a short walk and we had fun fishing and wading / swimming in the area. The cabin was a perfect size for our family of 5. We would gladly stay again except for the drive from the highway to the cabin. It took 20 minutes to drive 2 miles because of all of the potholes. If the road gets fixed...we'd be regular guests!!! Thank you to the host for being quick on communication!!
We enjoyed our little weekend getaway so much! The cabin was clean and so cozy. The fire pit and river access was amazing. Love the screened in porch. Watching it rain was great from the porch. The property manager was easy to get in touch with and was very flexible with us. We cannot wait to go back! Thank you for the great and much needed weekend away!
The cabin was clean & comfortable. The screened in porch was fabulous. The only drawback was the drive from the blacktop road to the cabin. The gravel road was full of potholes, impossible to avoid them. We were thankful for all wheel drive. One we got to the cabin we truly enjoyed our stay!
The cabin my family stayed in was so cozy and clean. And the complimentary dinner was so nice to have coming into the cabin a little later than we expected. I hope to spend more time with the family fishing at this place. I highly recommend to all families looking for a quiet getaway.
The property was amazing. Only complaint was the walk to the river had a mud puddle that was about up to our knees and was difficult to get through. It had rained quite a bit though so maybe that’s no always the case. Everything else was great!!
This is very nice location. Close to the river. Fishing wasn't excellent but it was likely operator error. Beautiful cabin. A couple things to keep in mind, drive in from main road is long and a bit rough (which I certainly didn't mind) but do make sure you get clarification on which cabin is yours. That was a bit confusing when we arrived in the dark and our actual cabin number wasn't anywhere to be found on posted signage. But once we determined where we were, we had a great stay. Definitely recommend.
Lovely Cabin by the river. Be sure to bring toiletries, trash bags and paper towels. Good access to the river via the public access road, it's not well marked. We followed the other people using it, luckily it was a holiday weekend and was pretty well travelled otherwise we might not have found it. The river access for the cabin is only accessible using 4x4, the people in the cabin next to us did it, but it was too steep to try in FWD. My only real complaint is the cleanliness, for the cleaning fee we were charged it should've been cleaned properly prior to our stay their was a lot of dust, dirt and mouse droppings. And when we stripped the beds their was mud and grass on the mattress pads. Overall it's a great place, the devil is always in the details.
The place was large enough for my 6 person family. It is right next to the water and within a fair distance (30 minutes) to town.
I would love to come again in the summer!

Awesome private getaway
Only issue we had was that the distance to Bennett springs was listed as 8 miles which was technically correct but it took an hour to get there because of roads.

Great long weekend at this little cabin. The cabin is perfect, all the comforts of home. It’s Equipped with everything we needed. The covered screened in deck is an awesome place for coffee in the morning and beverages in the evening. Spent our days at the river catching fish and relaxing Perfect little R&R weekend.

Lovely cabin with access to river that was perfect for wading and fishing. Be aware that cell signal may not reach, which was just fine by us. Plenty of utensils and dishes in kitchen - be sure to bring garbage bags if staying more than a couple of nights. Great stargazing and enjoyed firepit for s’mores.
We had a fabulous time at this property. The cabin is clean and well stocked. The screened in porch is amazing. There are many activities close by. We went to HaHaTonka state park for a day hike and also went on a float trip close by. The owners are very responsive and accommodating. We hope to return soon.
