Repeat Visitors

As brewery owners, we attend the Fall Beer Fest in Marquette every year and are lucky enough to bring friends along. Not only is The Onion Tower absolutely gorgeous, but also spacious enough to house us all comfortably without feeling like we're encroaching in each other's space. I have many years worth of memories laughing with friends both in the living room by the fire and in the sauna. Also, the bed in the basement bedroom is the most comfortable ever - we even ordered the same mattress to replace our bed at home! We plan to be back again next year and for many years to come. Amazing hosts, location, and home!

Multiple Family Stay

We rented the Hewitt Onion for 3 families including six kiddos and it was perfect! Plenty of room and Wendy had a fun scavenger hunt game for the one rainy day we had. The kitchen is well stocked and having the host next door was great for any random questions.

Wonderful vacation spot

I would give this house more than 5 stars if possible. Everything was wonderful down to all the special touches that Wendy provided. Great location within walking distance of brewery, downtown, and beach. We used the entire house for our group of 13 and added the extra studio apartment to give us an additional bathroom upstairs and that was a great idea. We also used the workout area twice during our time there and the large downstairs area with bedroom and bathroom was perfect for our friends with small kids. Wendy was easy to communicate with and quick with any follow-up questions we had and she even left a few beers from Blackrocks brewery in the refrigerator for us! A wonderful beautiful old home in Marquette- this home is a must for anyone coming with a larger group.

An all-time favorite stay!

This house is incredible! It is a beautiful home with so much attention to detail. The kitchen is spacious and made hosting a breeze. Plenty of space for visitong comfortably. The beds were comfortable with plenty of extra pillows and blankets. It was within walking distance to campus for my daughter's graduation and some of Marquette's best coffee shops within 2 blocks. I would rate this VRBO over 5 stars if I could.

Beautiful large house with great hosts!

I rented this house to host thanksgiving for about 15 people. It worked out perfectly. The kitchen was perfect for hosting a large party and there were plenty of tables throughout the first floor. My family really enjoyed everything about the house. It has tons of character and felt very cozy. The attention to detail in the house is way beyond any other home I’ve ever rented. There are very thoughtful instructions situated throughout the house explaining how to use alexa, operate tvs, work the locks on the old doors, etc. The basement is also great… it’s separated from the rest of the house, so our in-laws stayed down there. It has a sauna and workout room and easy access to the outside. I would love to return in the summer with a large group.

Huge vintage home near everything!

The owners were very considerate and respond immediately to ensure an incredible experience. My 12 year old daughter loves the Tower bedroom. I loved the relaxing feel of kicking back with a book in living room and study. We had our puzzle fun in the breakfast nook. Such a beautiful home with a vintage step back in time feel, but so close to the restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and shopping. Loved our stay! Thank you!!

I am a mother of three grown boys and a high school science teacher here in Marquette. My husband is the owner of a local brewery. We love to travel and experience areas as locals would so we decided to provide the same experience for travelers coming to Marquette. We will provide you with "live like a local" suggestions. We enjoy using our local trail network for running and biking. Lake Superior in the summer is our paradise with boating, paddle boarding and swimming in our crystal clear cold lake! We love dining and drinking at the locally owned venues throughout the city. We love our home in the heart of the town and have found that with all of our kids off to college 6 hours away at MSU we have extra space to share with visitors. So we remodeled our basement and turned it into a hotel suite style space. After having success with that short term rental we decided to buy the gorgeous victorian triplex next door. So starts a new adventure sharing this home with Marquette guests! We are excited to host your vacation.

Why they chose this property

We have currently lived in our house for 23+ years! It is where we raised our kids and I love it. It is crazy for me to think about that. I love all of the historic homes on our block but my favorite isn’t my house. My favorite is the house next door. I have enjoyed living next to it. The beautiful house next door to us has always been a joy to live next to. Built in 1898 the onion tower Victorian is a historic gem. Watching it go for sale years ago got me thinking and seeing it empty for over a year made me sad. The gorgeous gardens started to become over grown and I yearned to restore the home. So just as we were a few years from being mortgage free we made a crazy shift.
I’m excited to say we purchased the historic gem and put it up as a short term rental in 2019. I couldn’t be happier about this adventure. We enjoy renting it out so all can enjoy this beautiful home. Consider this beautiful home for your next adventure. I can’t wait to share it with everyone.

What makes this property unique

The house is divided up into 4 units. The large main unit is 2 floors of living space with 4 furnished bedrooms, 2 full baths, 3 rooms that can be used as separate homework space, two dining areas, gorgeous modern kitchen, a main living room area, A library with working fireplace, TV room in basement, laundry room, and outside back deck and huge front porch area. There are also back apartments that are separate rentals in the back and attic floors of the home. Let us know if you have a larger group and would like to see if the other rentals are available.
