First ever family trip

I’m not sure there are words to describe this trip! The house was more than accommodating and the location for our large group that came. From the great grandma to the great grandkids everyone was thrilled. We explored the sea animals, swam in the ocean even visited with the amazing neighbors. We have been many places in Florida and never have found the perfect spot to bring everyone that fit as perfectly as this place. The ability to leave our sun tents and chairs up all week for everyone was awesome, we had shrimp boils, caught fish, bbq everything we needed was there. The host checked in with us to make sure we were doing ok and didn’t need anything. Amazing, breathtaking and the best memories I think we have ever had as a family. If you are looking for the perfect secluded spot to enjoy true time together this is the spot to come.

An absolute gem

The house was beautiful and very accommodating for a large group. The property was amazing. The backyard was huge, with lots of grass space and big shade trees — leading to two decks that overlooked the beach. Low tide was the best time to enjoy the water and all that St. T has to offer. Our group had kids of all ages and this property allowed them to have fun, be safe, and escape the sun, while continuing to enjoy the outdoors! The host didn’t seem overly comfortable with our large group, but if she’ll allow it, we’ll be back! ;)

Absolutely beautiful!!

The property and houses (yes plural) were ideal for our family of 11. The youngest is 18 and all the "younger" ones stayed at the back house. Us old folks stayed in the main house. Beautiful home with the bay right out the back door! The homeowner was wonderful and very communicative with us. We LOVED it!

Fantastic stay

The place was great! We had a group of 10 and it was perfect for us. We enjoyed the house, the lawn and, of course, the beach. We were looking for a location far away from the busy, commercialized beach areas and this place was quiet and relaxing.

Perfect home for a relaxing vacation

Our stay at the home was so relaxing and nice. We rented the main house. It honestly has everything you need. You arrive to a private yard with covered parking. It’s easy to unload directly into the house. The kitchen had everything we needed including two refrigerators and two dishwashers. The eat in dining room was perfect. The living area was very comfortable. Right off of it is the enclosed porch. We sat in rocking chairs and watched the ocean from this room The three bedrooms were roomy and had very comfortable beds. We closed off the bathroom downstairs to make it a private bath for the bedroom. Both bedrooms upstairs had their own bathrooms. The deck at the top of the stairs was wonderful to watch the ocean while drinking coffee each morning. Outside the house the two decks going towards ocean were fantastic and where we watched the sunset. On the beach we setup beach chairs and umbrellas. We left them there all week long which made it so easy to go sit on the beach at anytime. I only saw a few people on the beach each day. It’s so secluded and private. The fishing dock is a quick walk. We had fun fishing. We saw dolphins each day, white squirrels and a few manatees. It was such an enjoyable stay. Thank you to the family for sharing their home with us.

5 stars for a 50th birthday celebration!

We were looking for a waterfront location where our friends and their kids (ages 10-18) could bring boats and relax for a few days to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. This house + guest house delivered! It slept 18 of us comfortably. The kitchen in the main house was especially accommodating: large fridge + freezer, a second fridge in the pantry, two sinks, two dishwashers, a Viking range with flat-top grill. and just about any cooking tool/utensil available. Plenty of Adirondack chairs outside to enjoy the beautiful view and nonstop breeze. We will definitely book again, and for more nights next time!

Panacea Fishing Trip

This property is beautiful. The two homes we used were clean, well equipped, and most comfortable. The location, yard and the access and view of the water are all top shelf, to say the least. Only complaint we had (minor) was that the tv service in the main house living room was difficult to use, and we could not get the volume to adjust. It was too low. And there were no instructions on how to use and operate this tv. Other than that, we had no complaints. The air conditioner for upstairs in the main house went out our last night there, but that system is new, and there's no way the owner could have known about a problem coming up or preventing it. We overcame that problem by using the great amount of space in the house, downstairs, to compensate. Overall, a very pleasant stay in a wonderful house and location.

Perfect Family Getaway

The Henderson's House is the perfect getaway. The house is steps from the beach and is equipped with everything our family needed to make us comfortable on our weekend together. The house is immaculate, the kitchen is well-stocked, and the beds are comfortable. (Kitchen is well-stocked means: plenty of serving dishes, mixing bowls, huge pots, blender, wine glasses, .....there was nothing I needed that wasn't there.) When my high school aged daughter wanted a little space from her siblings, there was even an extra bed on the porch where she moved to have some time alone. There was another bed on the porch where my husband enjoyed taking naps. My family of 6 includes 1 high schooler, 2 college kids, and a young adult beginning her career. This house served all of our needs and allowed us to be together comfortably. The wi-fi in the house was strong, the kitchen table seats 10, there are 4 stools at the kitchen island. St Teresa is my favorite place on earth. I look forward to renting this house again!

About the host

Hosted by Megan Henderson

Host profile image
My Father in Law was born in Tallahassee and he finished school, returned home and has live in Tallahassee for 49 years. They raised their two sons at this family beach house since they were born. Both of the sons now continue to take their children here and enjoy fishing, swimming and relaxing at the beach.

Why they chose this property

This beach property has been in my father in laws family since the late 1800's. It was one of the first beach houses at St. Teresa, which was developed by Tallahassee homeowners to move families from the city to coast where it was believed to have better "air".

What makes this property unique

The beach house + guest house is sheltered by the tall pines and oaks and as it sits on top of the highest bluff as the winds blow gently up the slope. The house is sheltered on the inside of Alligator Point which makes it easy to anchor a boat in front of the house for a week. Also, it's perfect at low tide for children to play in the tide pools and explore all the sea life. The waves are generally also low due to shallow areas nearest to land. There is a St Teresa dock to the right of the house which is good for loading and unloading passengers as well as Fishing and enjoying a drink at sunset. There is an enclosed fence area between the main and guest house. The guest house may be rented at the same time as the main house is rented. This must be discussed with owner at time of rental of main house.
