Welcome to Sommarstuga! (The name means Summer House in Swedish). It's a private 3000 sq. ft. beachfront house on Great Herring Pond. Each bedroom boasts gorgeous water views. It's a perfect place to getaway without having to fight the traffic over the Cape Cod bridges.
Sommarstuga has central air and a fireplace with a big open floor plan, 2 full baths and 2 half baths, a walkout finished basement with oversized sliders on both decks. One with glass railings for an unobstructed view of the pond on the first floor and then on the lower deck, walk down the 3 steps onto your very own private beach. *The 80ft dock is only out between June and August.**
The Primary (Master) Suite is on the first floor and has a king size bed and double sinks in bathroom. There are two additional big bedrooms upstairs. One has a king size bed, the other has a full bed and a twin bed. All have beautiful views of the lake. The finished basement has a sleeping nook that sleeps 4, with a bunk bed and a trundle bed (all 4 are twin sized). Please note there are absolutely NO PETS ALLOWED. The owners are highly allergic to all pet fur/hair dander. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Enjoy your stay in this perfect beach house in close proximity to great restaurants, shopping and outdoor adventures! Bring your fishing rods to catch fish such as Smallmouth bass or White Perch. Rent a boat from allcapeboatrentals and tie it up to the 80 foot private dock. **The dock is ONLY IN THE WATER BETWEEN JUNE TO AUGUST.** Or bring your own kayaks to explore the 376-acre fresh water of the Great Herring Pond. The pond has an average depth of 20 feet and a maximum dept of 42 feet. It is beautiful in all seasons! You will never tire of the views.
You are 2 miles from a great golf course called, Atlantic Country Club. And you are also 5 minutes from Sagamore Beach and the Cape Cod Bike Trail. Visit capecodbikeguide for more information for outdoor adventure.
A short 7 minute drive gets you to the Sagamore Bridge to go to Cape Cod and the Islands where you can go to the town of Sandwich and dine at the fabulous Fisherman's View Restaurant or go to Hyannis to grab a ferry over to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard.
Or you could stay on the mainland side of the bridge and go to Buzzard's Bay which is 15 minutes away from Sommarstuga with great restaurants like Eastwinds Seafood, Captain Al's Tiki Bar which has great views of the Bay,Mezza Luna for some good italian food or visiti our favorite called The Towne Tavern.
Maybe go north to the fabulous Plymouth Waterfront where you will find the historic Plymouth Rock and plenty of interesting museums and walking tours. There is great shopping on Court Street where you must go to Setting the Space. Dine at awesome restaurants on the waterfront like East Bay Grill, Tavern on the Warf or 71 West Atlantic Steakhouse and The Terrace Rooftop Dining all located on Water Street.
Or even stay very close to the house and visit the best breakfast place around called The Blueberry Muffin a mile and a half away in Cedarville.
And last but not least, if you feel like being pampered, The Mirabeau Spa is one exit north at Pine Hills.
We doubt you will want to leave the beautiful Sommarstuga, but if you do, there is plenty to see and do!
