About this property

Granite Lodge located in the heart of the Peneda Gerês National Park.

Casa da Fontainho is our granite style home and is situated in the North of Portugal in the Minho region and is nestled in the Peneda/Gerêz National Park in the village of Cabril, a lovely isolated place, sat on the Rio Cabril and surrounded on all sides by majestic mountains. The house can sleep up to 6 people and is at the end a quiet country lane and is surrounded by well farmed fields of maize, potatoes and other well tendered crops.
The village of Fontainho only consists of a few granite farmhouses. Nearby in the village of Cabril with its beautiful Salamonde reservoir (great for trout fishing) offers several places to eat, a mini-market, local church and a few cafés. A daily bread van will pass the Lodge and twice weekly the fruit & vegetable, fishmongers and grocers. The best drinking water can be obtained from our lodge as we have a mine in the hills above bringing fresh clear water to our lodge.
The lodge is decorated to a high standard, with a fully fitted modern kitchen with built in dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hob, fridge freezer and washing machine and central isle with built in wine rack access to a the lower covered terrace with mountain views.
The spacious open plan lounge is tastefully furnished with a blu ray DVD player, 48 inch flat screen smart TV with 4 local channels. Dining table seating 8 and access to the lower covered terrace for dining al fresco.
The bedrooms have twin beds and bathrooms and are beautifully furnished the bedrooms on the 1st floor have access to the upper terrace and spectacular mountain views
The lodge is set within 3,000sq mtrs of farmland, it is not landscaped, just natural.

There is a Delta Q Espresso coffee maker. Please supply your own capsules.

There is a washing machine please supply your own detergente.

Fantastisch huis in afgelegen gebied

Prachtig groot huis van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel afgelegen, maar daar houden wij van. Denk wel aan langere tijd rijden voor supermarkt. Fantastisch uitzicht. Communicatie (telefonisch) met eigenaren liep uitstekend!

Beautiful location

Fabulous house in beautiful location, well equipped and clean. Highly recommend for relaxing getaway from it all holiday. Kids enjoyed exploring the mountains swimming in the reservoir and many small natural pools - recommended restaurants were excellent as were the many places to visit by car.

Fabulous peaceful location lovely house, great walks stress free.

Easy process from contacting the owner, the property was as described even better, the views are spectacular, access via the roads are good, we loved the many scenic routes both by car and mainly on foot. Too cold on this occasion to swim in the reservoir but it did look tempting. The locals are charming and made us feel welcome, nearby in Cabril we got our groceries, used the internet cafe together with a delicious baked pastry with our caffe latte. Every morning the bread van stopped outside our door. If your looking for a calm stress free holiday with a bit of exercise this property ticks all the boxes. We will return later in the Summer to swim in the many natural pools and at the reservoir. Thanks Jean & Steve x

Very quiet place, comfortable for 2-3 couples.a long way to get there.

The house is very nice and got everything. Very quiet location and nice view from the porch.however hard drive to the village to get to restaurant or very small supermarket.was sometimes too hot- beginning of september- and not even fans to make it easier.but the owners are very willing to help and will conceder to put fans . Unfortunately it was too hot to walk in the trails so we drove to the river for a swimm or saw things around.when its cooler surely walking in the nature is great.

Adorei a semana que passei . Um mundo diferente do nosso dia à dia , os locais lindos feitos a pé até cascatas . Local onde nos sentimos mais perto de nós . Sem Net o que leva ao convívio e não o isolamento de cada um no seu mundo virtual, até os vídeos proporcionaram a união familiar que tantas vezes já não damos valor. As cartas e jogos disponíveis proporcionam o mesmo .

Beautiful mountain view, comfortable house

The house is newly built, everything is fresh and very clean. While there was no garden space yet, the terrace and balcony were lovely to sit out on, very private and the views lovely. There is a small shop in Cabril and a couple of bars and Wi-fi. The small bakery/cafe is especially recommended, good cakes! There is a nice place to swim in the river in Cabril. Just be aware that although it's only about a mile from the house, the hill is very steep coming back! Lots of beautiful walks close by. We visited Braga which was a nice town, lots of shops and restaurants, and supermarkets. It's about an hour away.
