Location is quite and sourroubded by forest trees. Multiple hike options close by. Would like to mention property host is very responsible and quick responding to questions. Enough outdoor space to spending time with larger group. Overall we enjoyed stay at this property.
Our family stayed at the Forest Cottage last month for our family reunion. The house was exactly what we needed for our large family. Plenty of space and beds for all. It was raining while we were there so the kids could not go out but the yard has a lot to offer for kids
My family and I had a great time. We loved the privacy of the location. We loved our family time, exploring the rivers and lakes around the area, bbq in the evenings, and bon fires at night. Awesome and comfortable house!!!
The large outdoor play area, plethora of rooms and beds, and comfortable shared spaces makes this an amazing place for large groups with kids. Our group of 5 families with kids from 1 to 8 had a blast! A nearby grocery market makes for easy access to food and Auburn State Recreational Park (just 15 min drive away) is a fun place to hike and explore.
We rented this property to serve as a wedding house for our wedding party. Everyone got their own rooms, we were able to have a little get together for friends and family the night before the wedding. The kitchen had ample space for food and people. The house was very well stocked for all needs. Plenty of bathrooms which were nice and clean. Bedrooms were clean. The front yard was gated but not completely dog escape proof but served well for the kiddos. The check in process was smooth and easy. Communication and flexibility with Aurelia was so nice!! Had the best weekend of our lives!!!
Overall, Forest Cottage was wonderful, with enough room for everyone. The outdoors gave room for younger ones to run and play. The kitchen was large enough to serve everyone, and two refrigerators were a blessing. It might have been nice to have 2 stoves, but it worked. However, a few of the mattresses might need to be replaced. The cooling system was faulty at first, but they sent out a repairman as soon as we called to let them know.
I celebrated my 40th at Foresthill house with 12 of my close friends. We had a great time at the house, everyone had a bed, the kitchen was stocked and the hosts were so sweet. We found a great reservoir lake about 30 minutes away, but spent a ton of time at the house. The house feels like it’s all alone, yet it’s only about 15 minutes from Auburn. There is a Raley’s in auburn for easy access to groceries. We bbq’ed all and hung out by the fire pit at night. I would definitely stay there again for a similar occasion.
Aurelia was super responsive to all of our messages. The house is in good shape and the kitchen is larger than it looks on the listing. We were hoping to use the deck, however it was under construction for our stay. We did need to spend some time cleaning up the place a bit more when we got there, but it wasn't too bad and the bedrooms and bathrooms were all in good shape. It is definitely a little cramped for larger (30+) groups, but for a short stay it's nice and we had a lovely time there!
We had a family reunion with 21 people stay at Forest Cottage. There was plenty of space, our children ages 1-11 loved the “park” as they called it, which was the large, completely fenced play area out front which we could watch them play from the front deck or from the many windows in the house. The kitchen is very well equipped with many pots and pans, dishes, etc. There is a big closet with lots of family games. Plenty of bedding and towels are provided, as well as hand soap, TP, and paper towels. We all had such a great time and hope to come back for our next reunion.
We have spent a great week at this property, with 24 participants for our math workshop. The living room is ideal for math discussions.

large space for gathering
The host was very easy to communicate with and went above and beyond to make our stay easeful and the space was large and accommodated a large party easily. The hosts were comfortable with us moving the furniture out of the main area so we could have ample space for yoga and meditation. The house is situated on a busier road than I had intended but it was very quiet at night.
Super friendly hosts that accommodated to our needs and had super fast responses. Definitely recommend for a big group for a vacation house.

Safety Concerns, avoid untill fixed.
While the managers property was comfortable and large enough for our extended family's holiday gathering, there were some major safety red flags during our stay that must be shared with potential guests. On the first evening of our stay, the power to the entire community went out and, while out of control of the hosts, the power outage led to unfortunate, yet preventable, huge issues during the remainder of our stay. While a generator was available to provide electricity in the case of a power outage, it only provided enough power for less than half the power needs of the house so we were without heat, more than half the outlets didn't work, and a non-working oven, stove, one of the refrigerators, and dishwasher. The host did come by twice and was unable to fix the power issue and didn't contact an electrician but required us to call and speak with their electrician who also couldn't find a reason for the generator power failure. A few nights into our stay, the one functioning carbon monoxide detector went off detecting CO in the home. After changing out the batteries of that unit and putting batteries into all other smoke and CO detectors in the home - as most other detectors either didn't have batteries, had dead batteries or were hard-wired and not working due to the power outage - two carbon monoxide detectors went off again and all of our family members had to immediately evacuate for the remainder of our stay for the health and safety of all. The fire department was notified and determined it was not a safe space to remain with the location of the generator in proximity to the home. After losing thousands of dollars because of our emergency evacuation, cutting the trip short and having to find other accommodations, having to dispose of bags and bags of spoiled food because it sat in an unpowered refrigerator overnight, and multiple trips from the Bay Area and Northern California to retrieve personal belongings the following day after the all-clear from the fire department, the hosts refused any refund until after we contacted VRBO and, even then, refused a full refund.
Our party of 13 adults and 11 children had a wonderful time at this property. The kids loved the enclosed outdoor playground, and the adults appreciated the privacy and distance from the next neighbors. A large group like ours can be noisy, and so that distance made for a relaxing weekend. We loved the outdoor seating areas and fire pit as well. Great number of sleeping options. We made some great memories at Forest Cottage and were grateful for our stay there.
Great playground with tree house, gated yard, climbing gyms, and space for ball games. Could be cleaner but owner responded to issues and sent technicians to repair a leak and malfunctioning appliance.
