In 2016 we finished building the "Big House" overlooking the cabin and fulfilling a 40 year dream of hosting family and friends...old and new alike. We have a lovely daylight level suite fully furnished with all new appliances, custom alder cabinets, maple paneling and an originally designed kitchen island.... all built with love and the view in mind. But the best part IS the view. It features a private deck and shared Beach access with our family and others.

This was a beautiful setting with very friendly hosts Who obviously delighted and sharing their peace of heaven with others. They had everything we needed, and then some. The sunset views from the beach were amazing.
Darrell's Sunset Suite was just what the doctor ordered. He was welcoming and happy to show us around the well-landscaped grounds and the comfortable and well-equipped suite. Every detail for convenience and relaxation was addressed. The view of the bay was spectacular. In short, I can't say enough about how impressed we were with our stay. At our first chance, we will return.
This was a real treat - so many thoughtful details - charging cord by bed, blankets to use outside etc….
Host was so friendly and helpful - we will be back!
We loved the view, and access to the beach. The space was cozy and well stocked. The host was very friendly. It was not a problem for us, but heads up if you want a completely private place to stay. The Owner lives above this unit and there is another cabin rental on the property. Everyone was lovely and easy to be around.
A wonderful home with great hosts. The views and sunsets have to be seen to be believed. A great beach with lots of fun things to see like sand dollars and seals! We will definitely be back.
A beautifully maintained property inside and out. Darrell has thought of everything a guest might need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay and has it ready! It is ideally located just outside Port Townsend so all local local attractions are close. We highly recommend Sunset Hideaway and hope to be back.
My wife and I stayed 4 nights for our 15th wedding anniversary. Darrel greeted us at the property on arrival and gave us the key and a tour of the property. We had a wonderful time, the weather was fantastic and we couldn't have been happier with the property. The heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch. We'll definitely want to stay here again in the future. It is a wonderful location for couples.
I cannot express how wonderful this experience was. Pictures do not do it justice. The interior was spotless and the kitchen was fantastic. There was everything you wanted and more. The host was perfect.
From the friendly greeting, AMAZING views, and very comfortable accommodations our stay was everything we had hoped for from start to finish. The location is perfect for exploring the Quimper Peninsula and beyond.
Sunset was a cozy place to stay. We enjoyed having a large hangout area and a very comfortable bed. The owner was incredibly thoughtful and friendly.
Top notch place to stay for sure.
Highly recommended.
Watching the beautiful sunsets from the lovely little deck was a real treat. The space is comfortable, charming, and cozy, and the kitchen is well stocked. Darrell is a great host! This is our second time here, we like it so much.
This sweet "cabin" was the perfect getaway for me and my husband. Darryl met us as we arrived and gave us a brief tour - we were even welcomed by a couple of frolicking otters playing in the water. This rental was so cozy and comfortable, it is obvious that the owners thought through all the details, including plenty of pantry items if you like to cook a meal. The sunsets are AMAZING, location is ideal (close to town, and Olympics), yet quiet and relaxing. Will definitely come back next time we are visiting the PNW! Thanks Darryl - you have a gem of a place, thanks for sharing!
The property immediately put us at peace. Its convenient location put us close to Pt. Townsend and Olympic National Park. Loved the opportunity to gaze at Discovery Bay and walk the beach. We had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Terrific hosts.
The Sunset Suite was everything it claimed to be. Beautifully appointed and in a spectacular setting. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We’d definitely re-book here on our next trip to Pt Townsend!
Cozy and comfortable apartment in a peaceful setting by the bay. Close enough to Port Townsend for restaurants and coffee shops. Several Trails in the area for hiking, walking, biking. I really enjoyed my short stay, (long weekend) and would like to go again for a longer period of time! Highly recommended! Thank you to Darrell for being a wonderful host!
We loved our stay on Discovery Bay. We enjoyed the view of the water and the snow capped mountains beyond. We lucked out with beautiful sunsets and a couple of clear gorgeous days. The accommodations were comfortable and simply lovely and our hosts were very hospitable and welcoming. We enthusiastically recommend this VRBO.
The pictures don't do this rental justice: the view is absolutely stunning, and the beach access is wonderful. Everything about the stay was great. The only things I'd change would be to add a bit more indirect lighting in the living room area (I really don't like overheads), and perhaps a larger bed. Wonderful location and property.
This was a great choice for my first visit to the Olympic Penninsula!
I loved this location and the property and the hosts.
I only met Darrell in person who graciously greeted me upon arrival and was extremely accommodating and helpful, friendly, enthusiastic about sharing this amazing location with others.
Just the right size for one or two persons. Kitchen has everything and then some that you'd need for a short or longer term stay, very nice linens and towels, comfortable bed and pillows. The recent remodel enjoyed the use of nice woods, tile and stone elements. The porch and outdoor sitting area is great, although during my 3-night stay the weather was intermittent showers -- so I didn't get to take advantage of this aspect of the rental. Binoculars, guide books, Netflix, WiFi... and a washer&dryer if you needed it.
Location - Treat yourself and stay in a place that allows you to connect so directly with the bay! Great view of the bay, esp. from the bedroom, enjoyed the changing nature of the bay and the sunsets. If you like to explore areas when you travel, this is very suitable. A short/scenic 6 miles to Port Townsend - a nice town/home base for you on the Northern part of the Olympic peninsula. And in the other direction 6 miles to get to Hwy 101 should your plans include to see the National Forest. The nearby area was really nice to explore/enjoy, Port Townsend (dining/shopping/architecture/coast/marinas), Cape George, hiking in and along the coast at North Beach Park.
