About this property

Hemingway's Hood between Luxembourg Gardens and Montparnasse

This is my second home, so it’s more a home than a rental. I take great pride in decorating it with warmth and luxury for guests and my family. So you will sleep on luxury hotel pillows and a mattress pillow, lounge in bathrobes from Bloomingdale’s, experience a Dyson hair dryer, enjoy a Japanese toilet, frost-free refrigerator, top-of-the-line clothes washer/dryer, and lounge in Roche Bobois armchairs. You I want you to be happy and return!

Weekly professional cleaning service is included.

Aside from just strolling around and enjoying the neighborhood where “Midnight in Paris” was shot, take in a concert at the nearby church, catch the art exhibit at Musée Luxembourg, or enjoy a coffee at the 100 year-old “La Coupole” brasserie.

On October 16, 2018 the French government enacted the Elan law or mobility lease, which allows people of professional mobility to lease this apartment for one to ten months. There is no administrative declaration needed, nor is there a security deposit. And you pay no tourist tax. These are the leases I offer.

As you look for an apartment rental, consider the size. 1152 sq. ft. is large. Which floor is the apartment on? The higher the better for security and street noise. We are on a the fifth floor (US). Is the apartment secure? We have two coded secure doors and a full time concierge. And you want to have an elevator. We have one.

I chose this apartment for its location. It is only steps to the Luxembourg Gardens entrance where there are pony rides, a super children's playground, a world famous puppet theater, tennis and basketball courts, a jogging track, petanque players, chess matches , a huge fountain and a carousel. It feels like home, not a rental, because it is my home four times a year when I'm in Paris.

If you have young kids this location next to the Luxembourg Gardens is a must. They will discover the Gardens just as my kids did -- feeding the ducks and fish in the fountain with a fresh 'baguette', sailing a boat, riding the carousel , swinging in the playground, watching a world-renown puppet show and riding the ponies.

We are close to Gertrude Stein's former apartment , where many artists of the "Lost Generation" gathered. Picture Picasso, Matisse, Dali, Fitzgerald and Hemingway having an aperitif at Gertrude Stein’s nearby apartment before they stroll to the nearby Montparnasse brasseries to see Josephine Baker. You can't beat the location.

This two bedroom, two bath, two balcony, spacious luxury apartment is in Paris' most desirable quarter known for its peaceful central location. You will enjoy quiet night's sleep in the cozy rear of the building. There is no noise coming from our narrow street. Two coded security doors to the apartment and a live-in concierge insure safety. A brief walk takes you to the Luxembourg Gardens entrance, world-reknown gourmet restaurants (Coupole, Dome, Closerie de Lilas), and then many lesser-known dining jewels, the Luxembourg Museum, Latin Quarter cafés, Montparnasse, St. Sulpice Church, the Odeon theater, the Raspail open air market, gourmet food and high fashion shopping at Bon Marche, the Alliance Francaise, Poilaine (best bakery in Paris), theaters, the Musee D'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Boulevard St. Germain, movies and other monuments. Our scenic street set the stage for a recent French 1920's period movie titled 'Les Faux Monnayeurs'.

Joe, our professional English speaking manager, meets and greets visitors with a smile, helps orient you and can coordinate various services including baby sitting, cleaning and food delivery.

The neighborhood is extremely safe because we are near the French Senate where security is ever present.

Everything you need from green grocers, pharmacies, bakeries, chocolate, gelato and pastry shops, cafes, tabacs, hairdressers, a late night grocery store, movies and theater are all within a few minutes walk.

Three metro stops, five bus lines and a taxi station are close to the apartment. The location affords easy access to the entire city and its monuments.

The 'beaux-arts' building was built in 1900 with high ceilings and elaborate wall/ceiling moldings. The high floor apartment with an elevator is a spacious 1,150 square feet and has two balconies.

Why do I say 'luxury'? The decorator designed apartment is furnished with expensive antique furniture, oriental carpets, fine bone China, original oil paintings and Japanese woodblock prints. I completely remodeled three bathrooms, the kitchen and installed a Japanese washing toilet. The drapes are custom-made heavy velvet. In the European tradition, one bedroom's walls are covered with blue velvet, ensuring a peaceful sleep.

The apartment is well-appointed with all modern conveniences. The kitchen is new and features the highest quality built-in appliances and a Nespresso coffee machine. We have top-of-the-line cooking utensils, pots, pans, high thread count and Frette sheets, bath sheets, luxurious bathrobes, silver candlesticks, 19th century gilded mirrors, an antique mantle clock, board games and lots of reading material for rainy days. Everything is new except the antique furniture. The apartment is wired with WiFi and a new Mac connected to a printer, two large flat panel screens, a Bose sound system, free worldwide telephone service (except Africa and South America), and Bluetooth to connect to the music system. There are also two standing air conditioning units.

So you do not need to bring guidebooks, hairdryers, adapters, computers, an iron, IPhone/Pad chargers, soap, shampoo, conditioner or umbrellas. We have all for your use.
You will enjoy your stay. We want you to return.

Beautiful place in a great location

The location is amazing and the apartment is beautiful. Unfortunately when we were there there was construction on the road and someone doing renovations within the building that made it quite noisy. We enjoyed our time in Paris!

perfect Paris home

The apartment was wonderfully appointed & very comfortable. The location could not have been better. On a side street so very quiet. The Jardin du Luxembourg 5 minutes away was a great bonus. We really appreciated how the owner checked in with us to make sure that we had everything we needed.

Wonderful stay!

Beautiful, well-appointed apartment in a terrific location! Spacious, quiet and clean, in a building with elevator. Air conditioning was lovely, and communication with the owner and manager was great. Owner does everything possible to make your stay as smooth as possible. Very accessible to help if anything is needed. The apartment is stocked with all the Paris resources you could imagine. The location is excellent, on a quiet street near the Luxembourg Gardens. Easily walkable to great restaurants, groceries, and wonderful boulangeries. We look forward to returning sometime soon!

Impressive, comfortable and convenient

We were 5 ladies traveling to Paris to attend the flea markets. This apartment was perfect for us. My Mom and I shared the large master bedroom. Two others had single beds, and one more stayed on the comfortable sofa bed with no problem. We always felt like we had plenty of room and privacy. The apartment is large and has a large dining room table for meals. We cooked almost every night and found the kitchen to be well equipped. Other conveniences were the laptop and the phone to call home to the US. The location is very close to multiple Metro stops as well as restaurants, shops and most importantly Luxemborg Gardens, one of the most beautiful places on earth! I highly recommend this apartment and hope I can return soon.

Dream Come True

My retirement dream was to return to favorite places and immerse myself in day to day life, in this case as a Parisian. We stayed here for the month of October 2024. This property afforded my friends and I the chance to have that “authentic” experience. The apartment was spacious and beautifully furnished. It has a fully stocked modern kitchen including dishwasher and washer and dryer ( separate units that were easy to use), microwave and coffee maker. The kitchen was stocked with spices and coffee as well as laundry detergent, trash bags and every necessity one typically has to purchase upon arrival to a rental unit. The beds were extremely comfortable and bathrooms clean and modern, plenty of hot water and great water pressure. It also included an Italian bidet and Dyson hairdryer. The location is exceptional- 2 metro lines within a 5 minute walk, the amazing Raspail market on Tues, Fri and Sunday was down the street; a small grocery store, pharmacy and outstanding bakery on the same block and Luxembourg Garden gates just about a 7 minute walk. The host was the best. He sent copious notes sharing favorites restaurants, patisseries, museums, etc as well as where go if we had a medical or dental issue . He checked in with us several times to ensure we had everything we needed. We also took advantage of the free nights at the owners Chateau in Normandy and stayed 4 nights - what an exceptional bonus! Highly recommend this property!

Location is great

The apartment is clean and you have everything you need. The design is a little bit old but it’s really didn’t bother us. We were 3 women and each of us had her own room. I recommend this property to families, group of friends and I’m sure you love it. Thank you Peter and Joe for wonderful vacation.

Fabulous apartment

This apartment is in a building that was built in 1913 and the ornate detail is fabulous. While very close to everything including excellent bus and metro lines, the neighborhood is very quiet. There are any number of bakeries, bistros, grocery stores and an open air farmer’s market within a few blocks of the apartment . Not to mention that Luxembourg gardens is just minutes away. This apartment is very well maintained, well supplied with all one needs including good linens, kitchen supplies, etc. The manager, Joe, is very quick to deal with any requests one might have.

Wonderful Rental Experience!

My family and I had a wonderful experience renting this lovely apartment in Paris. It is centrally located close to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and the Metro. Thankfully it is a quieter area than if you were to stay closer in to touristy spots which are only a short Metro stop away. It is also very close to the Luxembourg Gardens and most amazing gelato shop. Couldn't ask for a better location. The property was in fabulous condition. It was clean, plenty of room for my family of 5, terrific amenities, and everything worked great. We received fantastic customer service from the property owner and the property manager. The manager took time to show us around and explain things and was available if we had any further questions or concerns. If you are traveling with children, which we did, they had several games for us to borrow and having the washer/dryer was great. There is also a very small elevator that was helpful when our littlest kiddo didn't want to walk up the stairs after a long day of walking. We didn't really see neighbors who lived in the building while there. It was nice and quiet, which was lovely. We would highly recommend renting this apartment and when we return to Paris would absolutely stay here again. I miss it already, it was wonderful.

Amazing apartment in perfect location

Peter’s apartment is truly wonderful. We stayed there for 2 weeks and never felt any regrets as to size, comforts and location. It met all of our needs perfectly. Bright common rooms and dark, quiet bedrooms were great. Also, our host provided a list of amenities available to us in advance, which were extensive and quite helpful in packing and planning. We will definitely return.

Beautiful Apartment, Ideal Location

We just returned from a seven-night stay in this lovely apartment. The photos don't do it justice -- this large apartment is perfectly sized for four adults. All of the amenities you could ask for were included, and the property manager was very responsive and helpful. The apartment owner has gone above and beyond in providing helpful details about the neighborhood, advice about visiting Paris in general, and workings of the apartment. We felt quite at home, and look forward to returning in the future.

Beautiful, spacious and well-located!

We had a wonderful time in this beautifully decorated apartment located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. We were a group of 4 adults and I think we all felt we had as much space as we needed. The apartment has everything you might need for a relaxing stay including books on Paris and game to play if you happen to spend some time in the apartment. There is lots of light thru the windows which look out to the street - and another (very attractive) apartment building. Peter and his apartment manager were both very responsive to any questions or concerns. I loved coming back to this apartment every night which is well lit and comfortable. The one challenge (for us) with the apartment were the noises that I believe others have mentioned in reviews there were some loud clanking noises and what sounded like leaking, but Peter assured was actually just the steam pipes. Apparently, there isn't anything to be done for it, but one might want to have ear plugs on hand should you be a light sleeper. I had disregarded others' comments as I've never been bothered by apartment noises, but these were a bit more challenging - perhaps because of our collective jet lag (the worst any of us has ever had). That said, given the opportunity I would definitely stay here again.

This is THE only wau to do Paris!

My husband and two kids (19 and 13) were awestruck the moment we stepped inside the apartment! Just beautiful. The décor is amazing. We really felt like we were in Paris! So much better than a hotel. And everything so convenient. Peter has thought of everything! We didn't even have to buy soap or shampoo. Just bring your clothing and you are set. The location was perfect. Close enough to everything, yet...away from the hustle bustle of all the chaos and tourists. The neighborhood is beautiful and oh-so charming! We will definitely go back and stay at Peter's magnificent hideaway.

great apartment, great neighborhood

We've been to Paris many times over the years and have stayed in multiple apartments. We would have to say this was one of the nicest. The amenities Peter provided were exceptional and thoughtful, from top quality toiletries to phone chargers, a laptop and printer, (which was great for pre-buying tickets to museums to avoid the lines as well as for pre-printing our boarding passes for our return flight) as well as electrical adapters and Peter's own guide to neighborhood stores and restaurants. The apartment was spacious and well furnished and comfortable to just relax in. We like to pick up our own groceries (organic) and have breakfast in before heading out for the day. Having two health food stores (and the organic farmers' market on Sunday) right near by as well as a large, comfortable dining area and surprisingly good water pressure in the showers (rare in Paris), made for very pleasant mornings. We were even able to have friends over for dinner. The apartment was also very convenient to almost everywhere we wanted to go. As New Yorkers used to walking, we walked to all the major museums and shopping. (although there is a metro station right near by too) We were scheduled for a very early flight arrival in Paris and Peter made sure that wasn't a problem for us- and when our flight ended up being delayed for three hours, there was still someone there to greet us and explain everything in the apartment. Overall it was a great experience and we definitely plan to come back.

We loved this beautiful and convenient apartment!

All the amenities and recommendation from airport shuttles to neighborhood restaurant recommendations made our stay wonderful. There was internet access, FREE phone service to the US, fully furnished kitchen, washer and dryer. Air conditioning in the bedrooms. Great breeze through the windows in the other rooms, quiet street, We had a wonderful time visiting all the sights of Paris and Versailles. Our Son came home engaged to the lovely Molly. Charming & Beautiful

The apartment is exactly as the pictures present it. Gorgeously decorated, large (by Paris standards) and comfortable. Very clean, linens were very good, has all the needed ameneties. Excellent location. Metro near by takes you everywhere. The building itself is very well taken care of. It is safe. We had our two boys (7&9) with us and our sitter and we had no problem leaving them for evenings out. We definitely recommend this place if you want a true Parisian living experience.

Well appointed apartment in a serene, convenient location.

This apartment suited our family’s needs perfectly. The owner has taken much care to anticipate the traveler’s every need. Our stay was delightful beginning with excellent communication and instructions upon booking to our departure. We enjoyed staying in a home with kitchen and laundry while having many of the amenities of a fine hotel such as fine linens, luxurious towels, robes, soaps, shampoos, etc. One of the the bathrooms is very small - particularly by American standards. Water pressure was excellent though. We easily walked to most every site we wanted to see. A metro stop is just a short bit away. We enjoyed the neighborhood bakeries, cafes, grocers, wine shop, Raspail market. We were amazed at how peaceful and quiet it was. We appreciated the many guide books, board games, books and DVDs. I will highly recommend this property to friends and family and hope that I will have the opportunity to return myself.

Well maintained, very comfortable apartment.

My wife and I stayed for 9 nights and found the apartment to be great for the two of us. We could have easily and comfortably also accommodated our 24 and 26 yr old daughters or another couple. Great layout of space nicely separated the bedrooms from the common area and the living room, dining room combination worked well to not feel cramped. Peter has also thought of every little detail, there is nothing we needed that wasn’t there and were able to cook dinners and relax at home several nights after long days of walking around Paris. Finally, location is outstanding in the nicest district of Paris. Thanks Peter for being a wonderful host!

We enjoyed the lovely apartment

Located at the heart of Paris, this tastefully decorated apartment can hold more than 4 people but is absolutely comfortable for two couples. The place is nice and neat with hard floor covers by many pieces of beautiful carpets. The owner has thought of every little detail that helps staying in the apartment enjoyable. kitchen contains more than sufficient amount of pots and pans and dishes, glasses, etc. The dining room contains even more formal dishes and glasses, which often are not even needed unless you have a formal guests. we have rented apartments in the heart of Paris before. While we enjoyed them all, this apartment is now on the top of our list as we loved this place. It made our Paris visit more enjoyable than in the past.

Perfect Parisian Experience

Our family group of four had a wonderful stay at this tastefully modernized, completely outfitted apartment. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood there is a Metro stop two minutes from the door of the building and major shopping areas ten minutes away either by walking or by Metro. The endlessly pleasant Luxembourg Gardens are a ten minute walk in another direction, with bakeries, bistros, and small food stores along the way. The apartment itself was a peaceful place for all four of us. The bathrooms were modern, the kitchen was completely outfitted with dishwasher, washing machine AND dryer, full refrigerator and freezer, the dining room has a large table that we used and enjoyed, all of the beds were comfortable with good linens and bedding. And everything that we needed--from fresh soaps in every soap dish to basic condiments in the kitchen, electrical adapters and converters, guides and books about Paris and environs, even tennis rackets and balls for the courts in the Luxembourg Gardens--was provided by the owner. For five days we had the chance to experience the texture of living in Paris. This is a gem. Many, many thanks for a foot on earth in Paris.

I fell in love with Paris when I attended the American University of Paris. Now I am fortunate to have my own apartment in the 6th. I have had two careers, first as a US diplomat, now as a private banker. I plan soon to work remotely from my apartment. Eventually I intend to retire in Paris and this will be my second home.

Why they chose this property

Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. My grandparents spent many months in at a hotel two blocks from this apartment and I visited them there. Now this is my second home.
The proximity to Luxembourg Gardens was a dream of mine-- to leave my apartment and play tennis in the middle of a park in the center of Paris!

What makes this property unique

Access to Luxembourg Gardens, jogging in the park, free tennis courts, organic open air market, central location, restaurants, 'Bon Marche' best shopping, Alliance Francaise, Gertrude Stein's former neighborhood.
