LAKEFRONT w/DOCK-Rustic w/ Modern Touches All dates discounted for limited time!

GORGEOUS LAKE FRONT HOME with DOCK—Whether you are escaping the summer heat or seeking to watch the Fall leaves on full display…whether planning a large family gathering or a couples’ retreat, this spacious, newly renovated, luxury home will be your perfect home away from home. Tucked into the mountains of NC, on almost an acre and a half of land, you will be able to enjoy the quiet peacefulness of pristine Lake Glenville. This 4 bedroom, open concept home features the perfect mix of rustic and modern elements. As you enter the front door, the spacious, open-concept floorplan is the first thing you see. You enter into the generously equipped kitchen that has been newly stocked with all the comforts of home. Close attention has been paid to ensuring you have all kitchen amenities you need to cook up fantastic meals for a crowd. With stainless steel appliances and spacious cabinetry, it is sure to be a favorite gathering spot for family meals and entertaining. The kitchen overlooks the family room with beautiful vaulted wood beam ceilings and an inviting brick wood burning fireplace, perfect for snuggling or watching a movie on the 55” 4K high definition smart TV. Off the living room, there is dining room with an additional 8-seater dining table and a half bathroom. Off the living room, the screened porch invites you out to enjoy the view of lake & the sounds of nature while sipping your morning coffee or sharing a family meal. Also on this main level, there is a master bedroom, with barnyard door, cozy queen bed, cedar-lined closet, and a full private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. A deck off the kitchen has a new grill and a full-sized ping-pong table the kids will surely enjoy.

From the living room, climb the raw-edge wooden stairs up to a spacious loft bedroom featuring a queen bed, gorgeous wood floors, and its own full bathroom.

Downstairs you will find a fully finished, lower level where guests can feel right at home. Complete with 2 bedrooms, a second kitchenette room with bunk beds, a full bathroom, laundry room, and a second living room with 65” HGTV and new, large comfy couch, this level is a great oasis for a second family or a great spot for all the kids (think: quiet upstairs for the adults and mayhem downstairs as all the kids watch t.v. or play games!!)

The first of the two downstairs bedrooms has an inviting, rustic log queen bed and features a view out to the lake. The second bedroom has a gorgeous log bunk bed with queen bed on the bottom and a extra long twin bed on the upper bunk. Also on this level is a bunk bed with the kitchenette. The bunk bed has a full bed on bottom and twin on top.

Guests on the lower level can enjoy their own porch where you can enjoy the lake view and mountain surroundings on the wooden porch swing. This level has the stairs that lead you to the very sought-after gentle sloping backyard that is less steep than the majority of the lakefront homes in the area (but still a moderate walk, so feel free to ask us any questions you may have.)

*Note: we have had less mobile/elderly people find that the walk to and from the lake has been quite challenging.

The sloped grassy yard will also be enjoyable for kids and canine friends alike. A beautiful walk to the lake leads you to the shared dock* (shared with one neighbor) and the quiet waters of gorgeous Lake Glenville. 4 kayaks are provided for your enjoyment (3 single and one double kayak).

*Description of "shared dock": we share our dock with one neighbor who does not rent their vacation home out. The only thing we ask, out of courtesy, to remove all items off the dock after your fun day and place them on the lawn on our property, but other than that, the dock is at your disposal throughout the entirety of your stay. Bring your fishing poles to catch some dinner off the dock! Rent a pontoon boat from one of the marinas and pull it right up to the dock. This home is the perfect place for you and you family to unplug and enjoy nature.

*Internet / Wifi: We hope you don’t have to work while at the lake house but if you do, we have just installed STARLINK Satellite Internet (SpaceX low latency broadband internet system). This is the best internet option on the lake, and will provide our guests reliable Zoom/video conferencing capabilties. We also have a landline with long distance. The televisions have YoutTube TV provided for local channels and, if desired, you can sign into the many streaming services on both SmartTVs.

All towels and bed linens are provided, as well as a starter of toilet paper & paper towels.

We have 3 children so we have stocked the house with games, both indoor and outdoor, that we know will be enjoyed by kids of all ages. These are yours to enjoy and include cards, giant Jenga, board games, Beersby Frisbee game, , ping pong table, and more.

The surrounding Lake Glenville/Cullowhee areas include plenty of activities for adults and children, including shopping, hiking, waterfalls, zip-lining, whitewater rafting, tubing, gem mining, horseback riding and more! Nearby Cashiers and Highlands are a favorite shopping destination. For winter fun there is snow skiing at nearby Sapphire Valley Ski Area and Cataloochee Ski Area. The convenience of Asheville airport is 90 minutes away.

Great stay at the lake house

We all had a great time! There were 11 of us (6 adults, 5 kids (8-13) and there was plenty of space for everyone to sleep and spread out. The location was great! We spent a lot of time hiking and ate at some great restaurants in Cashiers/Highlands. I would definitely recommend this house to large families. Thanks for a great stay!

Incredible Vacation

This property was absolutely perfect for our group. We loved the quietness of the lake (in a slew) and our kids could not get enough of the kayaks and fishing! We rented a boat one day to explore the lake, but there is plenty to do at the home as well. There are several nooks and spaces that make this home so enjoyable. The screened in porch and the covered deck areas were a hit. Would highly recommend this home!

Life on the Lake

Jennifer's home was very nice and accurately described and pics are right on. we rented a pontoon boat for a week from Signal Ridge Marina. Great folks there also but it is very pricey to rent for a week. The only challenge is the drive into town. Paved roads into the home are nice and then down the mountain you go. Some of my grandkids are prone to car sickness and it was an issue for them. I fully understood where the home was and we loved the yard and surrounding nature. My grandsons caught a lot of fish off of the shared dock. We actually saw a bear ambling across the back yard once and a hawk landed on the porch railing one day.. Very peaceful location and the cove around the dock is beautiful. We would definitely consider coming back again in the future.

Nice cabin, fairly steep hill to lake

A lovely nook of Glenville Lake, with garden and creek running along the side of the property. Nice comfortable roomy cabin, a bit too many stairs, very steep ones going into the lower area. Lots of beds, nice decks and comfortable seating. The yard looks like a gentle slope in photos, but is fairly steep with uneven terrain, challenging for older visitors. The dock ladder was missing, and not replaced while we were there. Nice kitchen, lots of dishes and cutlery, but sparse or lacking in basic supplies we always find in other VRBO rentals, like containers to store leftovers, coffee fiters, napkins, dishwasher pods, etc.

Great place to relax and recreate

We loved the property, the view, the many spaces where we could relax, find solitude or enjoy togetherness. There was a dead electrical plug in the Master BR. Electricians came with in an hour of the property managers being notified.. Great response! They fixed that and another area outlet that we didn't even know about. We had several hours of electrical outage from the passing storms but thanks to the gas grill, we had managed breakfast without electricity! For anyone who wants Nature, fun, privacy, and quiet, I heartily recommend this location. We also found great hiking trails, Dry Falls, and Highlands food and shopping opportunities.

Gorgeous quiet cove!

The property is beautiful, with views of the water all throughout the house. A quiet cove to enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and fishing. A great fire pit to unwind at night, and a well stocked kitchen for cooking in. Great location with easy drives to cashiers, highlands and many of the local hikes and waterfalls. Easy check in, check out, and fast response from owner. You won’t be disappointed with this one!

Split Decision

The Lake House is very nice and well-appointed inside. The property owners tried to assist us however, this was a difficult vacation for my wife and me.The ride into the area is extremely challenging. DO NOT take Cullowhee Mountain Road. It is a dangerous road to say the least.Woods Mountain Trail Road is a narrow golf path only one car can pass at a time. The driveway into the Lake House is very steep – in both directions. The slope to the lake is steep and the path on the left going down to the lake was washed out full of loose rocks. The right-side path has cinder blocks loosely placed in the hillside along the house.Challenging for anyone with any mobility issues. The interior is very nice – plenty of room and tastefully appointed. The stairs up and down both levels are steep and could benefit from more rails or grab bars. You can easily hit your head on the corner of the stairs going up to the second-floor bedroom when walking from the main room to the dining area. We slept on the main level. The bed is small you will hear the AC running to the left and the refrigerator running to the right. The RING motion lights kept going on keeping us up.The owner turned down the sensitivity and they went on less frequently. We lost WiFi at the house and lost an entire vacation day running around trying to find a cell connection – very frustrating. The owners did reimburse us for this lost day. The home is beautiful, the owners cordial and theyhad a positive response to our suggestions.

Wonderful Lake stay

Beautiful home on the lake with a great big yard for kids to roam. The kayaks (incl paddles, and life jackets) were all in great condition and proved to be a great way to get on the lake even on a chilly day. The firepit was great for evenings- we even had a good ol' fashion weini roast and of course, s'mores. Sitting on the deck facing the lake to enjoy some cocktails before sunset was equally enjoyable. Cashiers/Grocery Stored/dining is about 25 min away and there are great hiking trails nearby as well. Keep in mind that the lake/house is at high elevation and so winding roads are guaranteed when venturing out (IF you decide to venture but it's not necessary!) The kitchen was very well stocked with pots/pans and even some spices. The grill was also very clean and worked great. Overall, a great house on the lake that is fantastic for families.

Family Fun

Great house with everything you need to enjoy time spent with family. Kitchen well stocked with cooking utensil, pots, and pans. . Den has lots of games, puzzles and dvds. The lake is gorgeous. Drive thru the neighborhood more narrow and steeper than expected, but manageable. But then again we’re used to foothills roads. Porches were great for early evening and morning relaxing. The younger set of our group had a great time with the kayaks and organizing a ping pong tournament!

Natural beauty + Privacy + Well equipped home

All added up to 2 weeks of relaxation, peace and comfort. We enjoyed our escape to the mountains and our first time to the Cashiers area. The house has absolutely EVERYTHING you could need or want minus food and drink. There are several lovely spots to enjoy the outdoors - screened porch, dock and deck. We spent time on the lake every day reading on the dock, feeding the ducks and fish, swimming or exploring in the provided kayaks. Most nights we paddled out of the cove to see spectacular sunsets from the water. Up at the house, my favorite spot was on the deck in one of high stools that overlooks the backyard and the lake. Communication with Jennifer, the owner, and the property managers was excellent. Overall, a very positive and wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

beautiful lake get away

This was such a nice spot on lake Glenville, which is beautiful. Its a small curvy Rd to the property but worth it! well equipped and nicely furnished. If you want somewhere to stay without a lot of coming and going to town this is the spot. I will say getting everything put away and ready to leave by 10 am was difficult noon would be much better!

A bit of heaven on the lake!

Our friend group had a wonderful week at Sinclair's Lakehouse. Being able to jump in the lake at sunset or take an early morning kayak was such a pleasure. Within 45 minutes, you can drive to several adorable towns and so many beautiful hikes and waterfalls. The house is very well-appointed, with plenty of options for large social spaces, but also privacy when you need it. One thing to note is that the downstairs doesn't have AC. Since we were using all of the beds, that meant there were quite a lot of bodies sleeping down there (including three tween boys), so it did get a bit stuffy. But that was a fairly minor problem when you could just walk outside and cool off in the lake whenever you needed to! We made many lovely memories on the lake and highly recommend this rental!

Perfection!

This home was everything described and more! We were able to make wonderful memories with our children (adults) and grandchildren (3, 6, and 9) at the Sinclair Lakehouse. It offered everything we were looking for ~ I cannot say enough! Beautiful home with a stunning view of the lake. We enjoyed the lake; swimming, fishing, tubing, and endless kayaking. We rented a boat from Signal Marina and cruised the entire lake. The waterfalls were a bonus. We visited The Village Green, Cashiers Famers Market, Old Iron Bridge, Sliding Rock, Whiteside Mountain, High Falls (no kids), Cliffside, Dry Falls, and Jackson Hole Gem Mine. We had a Bonfire in the back yard with s'mores, not to mention a beautiful sunset which was the perfect ending to our family trip. Our family is already planning to stay again the next time we visit. Did I mention it was "Perfection!" Note: Previous guests left loose garbage in the garbage cans and did not clean the grill after using it. This is a beautiful home/property we should leave it how we would like to find it.

About the host

Hosted by Jennifer Sinclair

Host profile image
Greg & Jennifer Sinclair are Floridians who escape the summer heat by travelling to Lake Glenville with our 3 children. We are avid hikers who love waterfalls, white water rafting, and anything outdoors. We love making family traditions and memories with our kids and helping them to ‘un-plug’ for a while and enjoy nature. We have enjoyed sharing the house with other families who are looking to do the same!

Why they chose this property

We chose Glenville, in a nutshell, because this area provides the best of EVERY world. There is something for our whole family to enjoy. Renting various homes on the lake ourselves many times, we have fallen in love with pristine Lake Glenville and decided it was the perfect investment to make for many years of enjoyment and memories for our family. First off, the tranquility of waking up in a house in the woods is a stark contrast to our busy lives in FL. Coffee on the deck while the kids are sleeping…what could be better?! We enjoy spending long days boating on the lake while the kids tube and knee board. The 3 waterfalls are a favorite lunch spot for us while we are boating. Hiking to waterfalls like High Falls is another yearly favorite tradition for our family. There is just so many other activities beyond the lake that keep our kids happy. Every year we explore activities like rafting or zip lining and others. Having a town like Cashiers just a short ride away allows us to enjoy unique restaurants and shopping and is a favorite destination for the adults! We always make a day of shopping in Highlands as well. We truly hope our home provides the comfort and peacefulness to other families like it does for us.

What makes this property unique

This particular location on the lake provides absolute serenity. The home has recently been completely re-done with a seamless blend of rustic and modern touches. With over 3,000 square feet, there is plenty of space for large families to spread out and feel comfortable, and the open main level is perfect for bringing everyone together for dinners and entertainment. We also value the vast gently sloping backyard, since many homes on the lake don't have any yard at all or have steep steps. The cove we live in is quiet and we love that the kids can explore it on kayaks by themselves, free of the boat traffic that is prevalent in other parts of the lake.
