HOUSE & PROPERTY DETAILS:

WELCOME to your comfortable, peaceful retreat in Paradise! Beauty surrounds you. The view from the living room itself is marvelous: beautiful Ocean waves and grassy Lawn, Hawaiian coconut trees with blue sky and white clouds. You can sit and look at it all day!

LOCATION - This becomes Your Beach House where you may experience the famed North Shore of O'ahu, home to spectacular winter waves and laid-back beach relaxation in "the country."

This home in the Mokulē'ia neighborhood, of coastal life and inland farming and hills to explore, and is in the district of Waialua, with the nearby towns of Waialua (historic sugar mill town) and Haleiwa (famed surf town).

HOUSE:

THREE BEDROOMS:
1) Main floor Bedroom CALIF. KING bed, with windows, split-system AC (to cool this bedroom only), closet, luggage holders, bedside tables & lamps, and dresser, lawn-ocean view & door to lawn.
2) & 3) Two Upstairs Small Bedrooms with BUNK BEDS - originally a large room, now has two smaller Bedrooms. Each bedroom has one set of twin BUNK beds, individual sliding doors for privacy, a large window, with curtains, a bedside table & lamp, plus individual split-system AC units (to close up and cool the individual bedroom only). Original part of the house with vintage details.

*EXTRA* - there is a QUEEN bed in open-plan main floor Living Room (living Hawaiian/family style). (There is no AC available; use open windows and ceiling & standing fans, as this classic beach house was originally designed to enjoy the open-air of Hawaii's trade winds).

TWO BATHROOMS:
1) Main floor 4 pc. full bath, with a separate bathtub, handy handholds and towel storage
2) Upstairs 3 pc. bathroom, large shower with two shower heads and shower light. Original part of the house with vintage details.

LIVING-DINING OPEN PLAN
- large picture-window OCEAN view, plus all the benefits of a regular home
- large combined living room/dining room, lots of seating, including a comfortable rocker-recliner, tables and lamps, plus Queen bed
- ceiling fans and lights, with standing and table lamps, provide both good 3-way, and more subtle mood, lighting. Plenty of electrical outlets in the house.
- there is a "smart" TV, with premium cable, incl. HBO and Showtime, DVD player & CD player (with Hawaiian CDs)
- the room has an airy security screen door, plus many windows, for open-air movement thru the house, with Hawaii's trade winds

KITCHEN
Average kitchen size of the time, double-hung windows, with vintage glass shelves, covered cupboards, security screen door, recent stove, fridge, sink -- plus double views from the kitchen, a sink mountain-view, plus view thru the house to see the lawn-ocean. Reverse-osmosis water filter. Plenty of pots, pans, dishes, utensils, glassware etc.

STORAGE SHED: with washer & dryer, kids & adult beach toys, beach coolers
COVERED OPEN LANAI: with two picnic tables, charcoal grill, beach chairs, twinkle lights

SPACIOUS - There is plenty of space in the combination living-dining room to accommodate your loved ones, eating together family-style at the big table, for playing puzzles/games, working on a computer, while others talk about the day's swim/beach walk/adventures, or just looking out at the beautiful view.

BEACH - Just walk out the door, thru the large covered lanai, with the picnic tables, and you will be on your grassy lawn (big enough for Croquet or Badminton), large shade trees, surrounded by native Hawaiian plantings, and the gently sloping seashore is in front of you.

VIEW - From the lawn, now look down the sandy beach, see the ocean's waves - plus - the coastline and mountain views. Beautiful! Lay down and sunbathe, either on the tree-shaded grass or natural beach, and let go in the warmth of the day, listening to the waves lapping on the shore. Or sit in a chair and just be mesmerized by the ocean's beauty. You may even relax on the lawn, with wi-fi, and be able to work remotely, looking at this beautiful view. Stay long enough and you will see the turtles! (and maybe the humpback whales during winter).

SWIM/SNORKEL - After taking a refreshing swim or snorkel in the warm and safe ocean, return to your home, enter either bathroom's shower from its outside door, enjoy your hot shower, and step directly from the shower into the bathroom to get dressed.

KITCHEN - Stay casual and prepare dinner in the full kitchen. The kitchen has a pass-through to the dining/living room - easy for communicating and also from which to enjoy the picture window ocean view. You could even go out to the lanai and grill your own fish or teriyaki steak or fresh vegetables on the Weber charcoal grill. Eat outside at the double picnic tables or in at the big family-sized dining table - your choice!

BEDROOMS - Three bedrooms (plus living room queen) will accommodate up to eight people. EACH bedroom now has its own installed split-system air conditioner, with individual remote, for use while in the closed bedroom.

1st Floor - Main floor primary bedroom (with a spacious Calif. King bed) and windows providing a beautiful lawn & ocean view (and sounds of the waves!);
2nd - Second floor bedrooms each have one set of stationary twin bunk beds, each in its own small private bedroom area, in the partially-divided upstairs larger room.

Another GREAT place to sleep is on the Queen bed in the living room (used both to sleep and as a relaxation area, a Hawaiian daybed, the 'pune'e' for those in the know). This comfortable bed has the advantage of a picture window lawn/ocean view when you wake up, fresh air from the many windows, and many fans, and soothing ocean sounds at night.

Two bathrooms make this a comfortable retreat for a family or friends to enjoy.

VINTAGE BEACH HOUSE - The house is an ORIGINAL, vintage, roomy, Hawaiian style, classic board and batten, unique beach house, built circa 1920s-1940s. My grandparents said it first started life as a fishing shack! In this house we enjoy Hawaii's trade winds, with open windows, & six ceiling fans that cool the house, with extra standing fans too. Our beach home was built to have a bedroom for the parents and a bedroom for the kids, so we added the extra queen bed in the living room for those who enjoy Hawaiian-style informal, casual, beach-side living. This Hawaiian beach house has been well-used and well-loved within this family since the 1930s! Many improvements have been made over the years, and especially the past five years. And we would like to share it with you now.

CONVENIENT - The nearby towns of Waialua and Haleiwa are just five and ten minutes away, respectively, with many restaurants, shops and attractions available! The beautiful North Shore coast stretches out in either direction.

~ Great restaurants and weekly farmer's markets
~ Variety of shops and interesting things to see & do (like fishing or a surf class)
~ Attractions - nearby Haleiwa Harbor, Waimea Bay park, falls & lu'au, hikes and walks, golf courses, other beautiful beaches, the Polynesian Cultural Center, easy access to Pearl Harbor and Honolulu.

PEACEFUL - When you stay here, in the quiet of the night, go outside, look up at the star-filled sky, and notice how peaceful it is. It is QUIET. Listen to the waves, they will lull you to sleep in your clean and cozy beds - all is well with the world, and in the morning you will happily greet another beautiful day!

Real Hawaii
We enjoyed our stay at Stephanie's property. We were looking for a place that's away from the crowds, laid back, with a real Hawaii feeling. And we found it! The beach acces was also amazing and it's centrally located for day trips around the island. We will choose the same place when we return to Oahu. Thank you, Stephanie, for making sure the soul of this house does not go away.

Lovely quiet spot
Great house with nice spaces. Very well equipped inside and plenty of beach chairs etc. for outside. The garden is lovely and the beach is just steps away. Such fun to watch the surfers from both inside and outside the house. A very quiet neighborhood on a one lane street that is good for walking. Perfect for a couple or a family with young kids.

To our delight, we have stayed in this charming, clean, genuinely Hawaiian beach home many times & look forward to many more breezy starry rejuvenating stays. Unlike most other NoShore Oahu locations, its beach with reef is swimmable even during winter months, and snorkeling is excellent all year. Close to Haleiwa town & under an hour to Honolulu. A true gem to enJoy!

Quiet Slice of Paradise
My husband and I came out, just the two of us, for our 10 year anniversary. Believe it or not, the house was perfect. It is really a 2 bedroom as the third bedroom is the living room. I would encourage this location for couples. It didn't feel too big. We just didn't use the bunk room. The location is unbelievable. The beach is RIGHT THERE. We came in Sept, so the first few days the water was like glass and we snorkeled and saw turtles and squid, a ton of fish, but the last part of our stay the water was a bit murky which was no big deal. There is no one on the beach, although the neighbors next door are very active and usually in their backyard in the mornings. The sand is very soft and quite a workout to walk in, but you can walk for miles, and there are turtles dotting the sand in the evenings. The house is very clean, and Stephanie came by a few times to tidy up and visit. Any issues and she was right there to help. We loved the bed in the living room, and I laid out every afternoon in front of the tv and dozed. We saw no bugs during our stay, which I loved. No AC in the living room, but with the windows open, we were never too hot and the screens keep critters out. Overall, the stay was magical. Haleiwa is 15 min or less and Honolulu is about 40 min in the other direction. Truly a perfect location. 👌

Perfect for a relaxing family vacation
We woke up every morning to the sounds of the ocean and literally rolled out the back door onto the soft green grass white sand into waist deep calm waters. Our first day we were greeted by a turtle on the shore, and a pod of whales within eye view. On our last day we were visited by a sea lion in our backyard. There are miles of beach to walk/jog and we enjoyed snorkelling in the consistent calm waters long the shoreline. This place is perfect for kids and adults alike who are looking for a relaxing vacation with the convenience of a home - laundry, BBQ, internet, kitchen, nearby surfing village, bike riding, and so much more.

Perfect Property! Perfect Vacation!
Stephanies property was absolutely breathtakingly perfect!! The house is so charming and you so can not beat the view. Stephanie is so kind and generous. She provided everything on the property that we needed (pans, dishes, silverware, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach mats, bbqer, towels, coolers, spices, etc. and even a cork screw!). The beach in front of the home provides a peaceful, relaxing view complete with many fish, turtles, and we even saw a monk seal! It is a great beach for boogie boarding, paddle boarding, and snorkeling. You don't even have to leave the property to have a complete Hawaii experience. We will definitely be back in the future to stay at Stephanies property again!!

Perfect Location
If you love the sight and the sound of the surf 24/7 this is the place to be. No surprises based on the vrbo site. Steps to the beach, turtles to the right on the beach on many days plus had several swims with the turtles just off the beach. The cottage is very comfortable and fully stocked. It was a great location for our family reunion of eight. Many wonderful restaurants in Haleiwa--Opals for Thai, the Grass Shirt for ahi burgers and Haleiwa Joes for a variety of excellent dishes--seafood and meats, Waialua Bakery for fresh baked turkey sandwiches and Bonsai for sushi. If you want to see big wave surfing come when the Volcom competition is held at the Pipeline. We enjoyed many days watching surfers from all over the world. Did I mention the very private beach--maybe 4-6 people walked by the cottage each day.

A Perfect Place!
This home was a delight, it is right on the beach and is represented perfectly by the pictures. Our stay was absolutely amazing, we felt like we never wanted to leave. This is a true old-school Hawaiian Gem. We swam with turtles, rode boogie boards, BBQ'd and spent many wonderful times on the lanai. When we come to Oahu in the future this is where we will stay, cannot wait to come back. We played croquet on the lawn and enjoyed sunsets and sunrises on the beach. Haleiwa is 10 minutes away and had all the amenities we could ever need. If you want to skydive or ride a glider, Dillingham airfield is just minutes away. We swam at Waimea nearly every other day and took surf lessons from Uncle Bryan in Haleiwa. Very thoughtful, knowledgeable and efficient owner. If you want a truly rejuvenating time on Oahu, come to the North Shore, and definitely come to Ku'u Home Mokule'ia. Mahalo Stephanie!

The perfect getaway
This house is perfect for a family vacation. Several amenities that make your stay so much more enjoyable with the snorkel equipment, beach chairs, beach towels but my favorite is the shower doors that open to the outside great for cleaning up straight off the beach but are still very secure when closed and locked. Stephanie takes great pride in her family house and it shows with the cleanliness and upkeep. We had no issues with bugs or insects. An occasional chicken with her chicks wandered into the back yard but didn't stay long and were of no bother. Washer and dryer were a big plus as we had our 5 month old granddaughter with us. We rarely saw more than 3 people on any given day walking or running on the beach. We had all the windows open during the nights but never once felt unsafe. The neighbors we did encounter were always friendly. A great time was had by all and this house will be on the list for our next Hawaiian vacation Thank you Stephanie!

Beach front bliss!
Our family of five had the pleasure of an long and wonderfully extended stay, at the Mokuleia House. It was an incredible experience and we would not hesitate to recommend the house as a vacation rental. It was nothing short of a wonderful experience we will always remember. Stephanie, the owner is a generous, informative and always available host. She is very thorough and extremely thoughtful. We thank you Stephanie for sharing her paradise on the beach with our family. The house is small, but very accommodating. There was plenty of room for all five (2 adults, 3 kids) of us. We loved the large communal table for eating together. It is an authentic traditional Hawaiian Holiday home, which is exactly what we were looking for. We loved the Hawaiian decor and aesthetic. Its not fancy but it is extremely well appointed and everything we could ever have imagined needing was there. The indoor to outdoor showers are a genius idea and kept sand and sandy children out of the house! The location is breathtaking . . . you are on the beach!!!!! We had turtles in front of the house almost daily and we all lived in the crystal clear water for hours on end. We found very little reason to leave the house and often didn't. However, Haleiwa was a great little town, full of really good restaurants, food trucks, showing and lots to do. There are also amazing Farmers markets and local produce stands available very close to the house. We finished many a busy day, snorkeling or surfing, or sometimes a lazy day, sitting in the gravity chairs the house has, watching the sun go down, enjoying a cocktail (adults, not kids!). It is simply bliss. It is a tranquil, beautiful and memorizing spot. We all miss falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. And waking to a run across the lawn, jumping into the waves! You can guarantee a magic holiday at this fantastic little cottage on one of the best beaches we have ever experienced!

Sooo hard to leave
Stephanie's home was a dream cottage for us --- bright, comfy and cheerful, a place you just don't want to leave . . . and we rarely did! This charming vintage home let us feel like we were part of old Hawaii. The house, lawn and beach were exactly as the pictures show. The ocean view from the living area will be in your memory forever with the beach about two breaths away from the door. Beach walking in both directions goes on and on and the beach was almost empty except for Labor Day weekend … to be expected. Turtles, feeding right in front of the house, all day long. Lapping waves, always. Two days the surf was really high so the waves roared and crashed. Otherwise, it was ideal swimming. One morning we met up with a snoozing turtle on the beach and another morning we saw the sand markings where eight turtles had pulled up on the beach to the sleep the night before. Gorgeous weather. We had it all. Stephanie has equipped her house so well with everything you could ever want: beach/water toys; snorkeling gear; beach chairs; every conceivable kitchen gadget, dish, pot and pan; office supplies; lots of reading material; videos; and Wi-Fi. One day I decided to challenge the house. There must be something it didn't have. Nope! In addition, ceiling fans cool the house wonderfully. We had warm weather - high 80's and low 90's most days - and the house was always comfortable. With a glass of wine, watching the sunset every night on the grass overlooking the ocean, it was like being in a movie. Breakfast and dinner by the big oceanfront window. Ohhh, the view. And sleeping was heavenly. The ocean lulled us to sleep every night. I did, however, wake up one night to a thundering ocean. The surf was up! And I went outside to watch the crashing waves under a magical starry, starry sky. Then very early that morning surfers paddled out to ride those crazy waves. We loved that entertainment as well as the daily skydiving from Dillingham Airport, just down the road. But nothing took our eyes off the ever-present feeding turtles for very long. We've been on the N. Shore several times before so we didn't spend much time beyond Haleiwa (except for the great farmers' market on Sunday morning. Be sure to go.). But the beaches toward the end of the road were new for us . . . gorgeous and nearly empty. Stephanie is a superb hostess - helpful and thoughtful with lots of information, tips, and local goodies! Mahalo Nui, Stephanie. We'll be back. Just wish it could be next week!

Nice property and location. If you are looking for a beach house with an old Hawaii feeling, I would recommend this location. The owner was very sweet lady, and you could tell she has a lot of love for her family home. I will have to say that the check-in and check-out process are a bit much for my liking. If you rent this place, be sure to allot yourself and hour or two for check-in.

Classic Hawaiian Beauty
This property is a classic Hawaiian beauty. There are amazing views all around. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood far away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. There is a lovely town very close by for shopping and eating. The house is very comfortable and you have everything you need for the beach, which is right out the back door! You can swim with turtles everyday you are there. It is like having your own private beach. We were a party of four adults and there is definitely room for four more. If you need to get some work done before you play, the wifi works perfectly, and if you stock up the fridge you don't have to go anywhere! We would love to go back there if they'll have us 🥰

Great house Great place Great Stay
We were welcomed by the owner and had a fantastic time on the beach and in the house it’s a beautiful location near Haleiwa where we strolled frequently. The owner is an elderly person who comes round to do the gardening so the place remains in perfect condition and is very eager to meet and engage with you to your best accommodation but it’s up to you to draw the line. I very much enjoyed watching the numerous sea turtles in the sea. If you like the North shore it’s a great family house to stay.

Private and Quiet with Amazing Views!
This is the second time we have stayed at Stephanie's property, and it was just as magical as the first visit! If you are looking for a property directly on the beach, with ocean views from the primary bedroom and common room, this is the perfect location. Without even leaving the property you are able to witness turtles swimming and resting on the beach, parachuters falling from the sky, snorkeling, fishing, walks on the beach, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets! We like to rent bikes and SUP's from town (they deliver) so we can enjoy bike rides in the private community and purchase local fruit from the small kiosks in front of the homes. We are very active all day, up with the sun, and in bed just after sunset, so it was a nice treat to have newly installed air condition to cool the rooms down at bed time! (The primary bedroom also has a very comfortable new king size bed.) When we would break away from the property we would visit the Waialua Sugar Mill for Shave Ice, Jerry's for Pizza (In Waialua), The Beach House (dinner for a little fancier meal, in Haleiwa), and Haleiwa town for a variety of food and shopping. We appreciate the personal and detailed information Stephanie provides at check in, and the special treats she drops off during gardening days! Thank you Stephanie, can't wait to for the next visit!

A perfect house for quintessential Hawaiian vacation
We were looking for a quiet and simple place to stay for our North shore vacation. We found it at Stephanie’s home in Mokuleia. It was the perfect place to help us slow down and take in the sights and sounds of the ocean, mountains, and wildlife. It was a great home base location for all of our North Shore adventures including hiking, surfing, fishing, and swimming. The home was well appointed and Stephanie was very attentive to our needs, including the special needs of our disabled son. The house is perfectly level without any steps so it made it easy to get his wheelchair inside. She also provided a shower chair for our use which was very helpful. We really appreciated the beach chairs, beach towels, ice chests, and ice blocks, which made it easy for our day adventures at other beaches. Stephanie was also generous about us having close family friends who live on the island gather with us. We really appreciated that. The wildlife was incredible. A monk seal napped most of one day just in front of the house and turtles swam by constantly, coming up the sand to sleep at night. The neighbors were friendly and full of Aloha, sharing stories and food with us. It really felt like home and made it hard to leave.

The vintage Hawaiian house was just what we were looking for
The vintage house was awesome and very clean. Everything worked. Two bathrooms and a nice kitchen. The front lawn lead to the beach and ocean. There is a reef, but plenty of area near shore for swimming. You can snorkel over the reef, but don’t touchi it. We saw turtles and whales breached far out. There is a covered lanai for when it rains. It was at least 80 degrees for our whole stay. The owner stops by twice a week to check on things, pick up leaves and see if anything is needed. Overall, we had a nice relaxing and long vacation

Best Experience of our Life!
We absolutely loved the home, location and wonderful access to the ocean. Stephanie was the perfect hostess and spoiled us rotten with her gifts and suggestions. This is my 4th visit to Ohau , staying many places. Stephanie’s house is far the best place I’ve ever stayed and plan to one day return. Mahalo Stephanie!

This beach house has been in our family for almost NINETY years! (In fact, that's a photo of Stephanie c. 1959 in front of one of our coconut palm trees, which still remains.)
Our grandparents, parents, the siblings, and now children and grandchildren have had many memorable and fun times here. And we are ready and willing to share this vintage beach house with you now.

Why they chose this property

We have a family history and much aloha for Mokulē'ia and the Waialua district. It is reflected in our stories, experiences, the house itself, and the furnishings and plantings. This truly is a vintage, classic beach house, and there are fewer and fewer of them remaining in Hawai'i! This is no modern cookie cutter house, flat and starkly new - this house is unique, with home-grown vernacular architecture and has soul. And it has seen its share of natural phenomenon, and keeps on being a beautiful, calming refuge. Come relax ocean-side in a real home-like beach house, just perfect for everyone to feel comfortable in!

What makes this property unique

We love the openness of the living and dining rooms, comfy and casual, with the fabulous view out the picture window! I especially like the Queen bed in the living room, used as a Hawaiian-style daybed/pune'e, where you can wake up to the morning view of trees, blue sky and ocean. It's a room that just embraces everyone in a big family hug!
There is also an easy five-stair 'upstairs' where the second (double-rooms) bedroom and second bathroom are located, adding both some privacy and still some connection to the rest of the house, overlooking the dining area.
