Old Fashioned Winter Wonderland
Our annual winter family gathering brought us back to Acworth, NH for the fourth consecutive year. Turning the corner by the horse farm onto the country road that leads to the big red house now feels like a homecoming of sorts. Not home to anything fancy, but back to the quirky quaintness of steep staircases, beautiful beamed ceilings, old paned windows, wide pine floors, a large country kitchen. The antiquity of the house sited on a hundred acres of cleared lawn, ponds , and forest is the charm of the house. Yet each year the owners work to make improvements not only for maintenance, but for the comfort and enjoyment of guests. We continue to come back to a home where the family builds on memories of sledding, hiking snowmobile paths to the lake or up Gove Mountain, completing jigsaw puzzles, playing games, enjoying nips by the fire pit under the stars, skiing at nearby Sunapee, and tubing at Arrowhead The owners and the caretaker are extremely accommodating , pleasant, and timely with communication. Although we enjoy wintertime here, I’m sure it’s wonderful too in other seasons.

Beautiful place to stay
My family and I have made a yearly tradition of staying at the beautiful Sirkin home. Every year we look forward to spending time around the large yard, as well as cooking and having nice family meals in the kitchen. Definitely a special place to stay and enjoy some quiet time with family.

Better than ever
This lovingly cared-for family home continues to be a favorite for our group. New updates and upgrades (especially in the kitchen) make it even more welcoming. This beautiful old house is fully equipped, has comfortable beds (including new mattresses when they are needed), and is always very, very clean when we arrive. Two downstairs bedrooms make it suitable for those in our group with mobility issues. Caretaker is very prompt and attentive. Have already booked our next visit!

Great location to enjoy the outdoors
The property was perfect for our group who enjoys spending the majority of our time outdoors. The entire group was thankful for the "home-like" feel of the property and surrounding area. Everyone really enjoyed their stay.

Feels Like Home
Our third winter family gathering in this charming eighteenth century farmhouse didn’t disappoint. Outside we went sledding down the backyard hill, skated on the pond, hiked Gove Mountain across the street, and walked along skimobile trails to trek across Crescent Lake. A ski trip to Mount Sunapee was just a half hour away. The owners are very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Lisa, the local caretaker, is friendly and ready to help out any way she can. We hope to return,

Acworth
The house was great. It was clean and we enjoyed the stay. I have two issues. The ramp was not on the front as I was told and was pictured. My son had to carry my 18 year old grandson in and out of the house. The ramp was the main reason we chose the home. I would have reached out to the property manager but I sent her two text messages before we arrived and didn't receive a response. So I thought reaching out would be pointless. That's why I gave the lower rating.

Annual Family Vacation
We had a great week! Perfect location for our large family. Lots of space for everyone and adding the barn was perfect. We enjoyed lots of games and laughs on the screened in porch that was great for our few rainy nights. Floating on the pond was perfect for the warm days. The house was well stocked and we didn't need anything. Thank you for sharing your family home with us.

It Has Everything
This house is good for someone who likes old houses. The grounds and pond are great but we found the path to Lake Crescent too long and muddy to walk down and the dock with the canoe is on a steep slope so not really a place to hang out. We parked at the boat launch when we took our kayaks out We had rain for 3 days here that washed out the roads in the area but the screened in porch kept us dry and sane with a great view of the pond. Lots of board games too. They have the biggest blueberry bushes I've ever seen and my granddaughter enjoyed picking! Croquet and cornhole were lots of fun when the sun came out. Kitchen has everything you need but we had to move all the food that was in the cupboards and fridge to make room for ours when we arrived. Nice new Weber grill. The stairs to the upstairs are steep and the bedroom with the queen bed with the two twins is up really high so not easy to get in and out of. We enjoyed the sunny deck upstairs with the huge maple tree and the great playroom and made use of the fans in every room. We didn't use the small bedroom off the kitchen because the bed is really old and creaky but the master bedroom downstairs had a very comfortable double bed. Be aware of the neighbor's yellow dog. We went for a walk down the road and their dogs came running down the hill and the yellow one bit my senior dog on the nose :( Overall the pond is what made our visit so much fun here with the floating lily pad and the cool springs when we finally got sun.

Family Trip
I stayed here with my family (9 ppl, including 3 kids) for a long weekend getaway to celebrate my parents’ 50th anniversary. The house has a lot of space and was perfect for a big group, and the barn apt. is great. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking big dinners. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate so we didn’t get a chance to check out the lake or swim in the pond, but it was great just hanging out on the back screened in porch in the evenings and listening to the thunderstorms. Definitely don’t forget your bug spray though - lots of bugs in the summer. I recommend this listing and would stay here again.

We absolutely LOVED this vacation spot! The house was the perfect size for our family of 7. The house was fully stocked which is wonderful! The private pond was awesome! We couldn’t have been happier. We already decided to make this our annual vacation spot! The owners and caretaker are very responsive and help with anything you need.

It was wonderful! The wonderful, old home was clean and inviting. It had everything one could need. All the comforts! The grounds were beautiful and well kept. It was a great venue for a small wedding and the bride and groom remained for the week as a nice, relaxing honeymoon ❤️

Happy Memorial Day Weekend
We had a great time! Everything was as listed. Two things to mention for future renters: GPS does not see this property at the address listed, and offers you either 89 Gove Rd, Newport or 89 Gove Rd, Croydon - both are fine, and will bring you to the location. And, we had a group of 7 people, and periodically faced cold water only option since the boiler could not keep up with the needs.

Country Escape
If you would like to go back in time and have a relaxing getaway, this is the place for you. 1700's house with plenty of charm, beautifiul property, well stocked kitchen. As my mother-in-law kept saying, the house "just hugs you". Plenty of beds for two families with children. Issue with the WI-FI that the manager was having looked at on the Monday after we left, but I was kind of glad to disconnect for a couple of days. My black lab enjoyed the back yard. It is a bit of a drive off any main roads but well worth it!!

Worth It in Acworth
Driving along winding, wooded country roads in America’s rural places passing 18th century houses, have you ever wondered what it must be like to live in one? This could be your opportunity. Set on a hundred acres, some wooded and some open, with ponds, running brooks, and trails, this antique farmhouse offers a rare chance to experience life the way it used to be. The grandchildren loved sledding down the hill, playing “ hockey” with broomsticks and pine cones on the frozen pond., and hiking down the snowmobile trail to Crescent Lake. Quirky passageways, wide plank floors, doors galore. The family played endless games and completed puzzles at the large kitchen table. It’s that kind of place! Living room is warm with lots of natural light, beams, and a remarkably efficient fireplace for an old home. Kitchen is spacious and fully stocked. Bedrooms can get cool on frigid nights, but there are plenty of blankets in closets and chests, and the heating system keeps the heart of the house and bathrooms toasty warm. Communication with caretaker is great, particularly with plow info to help dig us out of a ten inch storm. Mount Sunapee and Arrowhead Rec are both about a half hour away. WiFi is ok, phone reception (Verizon at least) is solid. Except for maybe the refrigerator, nothing in the house is new. Although some pieces could stand replacement (couch), it all befits this classic homey, charming , surprisingly solid antique 18th century home. We loved our stay!
