The Mapelot cottage is located on a very private lane, surrounded by lovely trees, & spectacular waterfront. Enjoy the sunshine from sunrise to sunset (west/Southwest exposure). Situated on beautiful Upper Buckhorn Lake. Enjoy 150' of shoreline with a private dock to accommodate your boat(s). A private bay (away from main boat traffic) to safely enjoy swimming, floating on a raft, paddling, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and other water sports.
A paddle boat and canoe are included.
Buckhorn Lake is well known for its fabulous fishing and spectacular sunsets. Access to (3) lakes without any locks (Upper Buckhorn, Pigeon, Chemong). You also have access to a free boat launch directly on the street as well as a public launch in the town of Buckhorn.
The cottage is surrounded by lovely Maple trees. Stunning views from every window (lake & ravine). The cottage has (5) bedrooms and (3) bathrooms. The kitchen with breakfast nook overlooks the family room/dining area with stunning views of the lake. There are 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom on this level. Large windows with lovely views. The upper level has a separate living area for the kids to enjoy which includes (2) bedrooms, and a games room. The lower level has a bedroom, bathroom, family room w/fireplace, and walk out to 20x40 deck and sunroom.
The double garage with vaulted ceiling and windows all around has a double door walk out. A great space 'rain or shine' to play a game of ping-pong or darts.
The cottage has room for everyone to enjoy their activities separately if desired.
Just under a 2-hour drive from Toronto and 3 hours from Ottawa. Conveniently located 20 minutes north of Peterborough, less than 15 minutes to Lakefield or Bobcaygeon.
Fall is one of our best kept secrets! Enjoy the spectacular fall colours, gorgeous sunsets, campfires, fall fishing, canoeing, pedal boating just to name a few.
In the winter season, enjoy hiking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling on the local trails. If the lake freezes over, enjoy a game of hockey with a camp-fire and hot apple cider.
Have a SPA-CATION! Relax and detox in the 'indoor' sauna year round!
Boating & Fishing. Upper Buckhorn Lake is exceptionally clear. It features rocky Canadian Shield shorelines and they are speckled with many rocky islands. Boating through here is a quintessentially Canadian experience, almost as though you're immersed in a Group of Seven painting. All that variety of rock, islands, and weed beds creates terrific habitats for many kinds of fish, particularly Large and Small mouth Bass, Walleye, Muskie, Bluegill, Perch, Crappy, and Carp. The fishing here is excellent!
