You'll be inspired the moment you enter the The Cottage. In addition to a festive mural, the living room is furnished with comfortable seating, flatscreen TV and spectacular views of the ocean. Relax and unwind inside, or stroll outside to the furnished lanai and listen to the sound of the waves just below.

The kitchen at The Cottage has been beautifully remodeled with new wood cabinetry and granite countertops. Furnished with all large appliances as well as a variety of culinary essentials, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare your favorite meal. Brew a delicious cup of Kona coffee and head outside to the lanai where you can spot whales (when in season) and dolphins in the ocean just beyond.

When you're ready for a peaceful night of rest, the primary bedroom provides an inviting retreat. Sleep with the windows open in this cozy ocean view room, where the sounds of the waves will lull you into a relaxing sleep. The primary bedroom is furnished with a plush California King bed, a ceiling fan, split system air conditioning (installed 2023) and a large flatscreen TV. A small built-in desk allows space for work, or for writing postcards to your friends and family to share with them the beauty of The Cottage.

You'll love the remodeled bathroom, which features a large oversized shower, lots of counter space and an abundance of fluffy cotton towels. Additional amenities at The Cottage include a washing machine and dryer, split system air conditioning, Wifi, and Internet-enabled satellite cable TV.

Outdoors at The Cottage you'll find tropical beauty everywhere you look. Relax on the oversized lanai which is furnished with chaise lounges and ample seating. The lanai is the perfect spot for sunning, or for hosting an al fresco dinner party for your family and friends. Just a few steps down the shoreline is Kahalu'u Beach State Park, which is known for its encounters with the majestic Hawaiian Sea Turtles.

The Cottage is a ten-minute drive to downtown Kailua-Kona, where you'll find a variety of things to do and see. You'll love exploring the area and its many significant Hawaiian cultural landmarks. Both the Hulihee Palace and the Mokuaikaua Church are located on Ali'i Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of what is now the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, until his passing in 1819. The Ahu'ena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by the late king and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.

People and cruise ships watch from the Kailua-Kona Pier, where you'll have access to Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, and dolphin and whale watching. Visit the famous farmers market. Enjoy a shave ice or a cup of Kona coffee. Dine on a light snack or a gourmet meal, buy an inexpensive souvenir or a piece of fine art, book an activity, go for a swim or hang out at the beach. The pier is the official starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (held annually in October), and a great place to watch the sunset. Amazing place

As we walk into this cute little house it was just amazing from the front gate to the door you’re welcome by flowers and plants then you open the door and there it is a view of the Pacific Ocean the sound of the waves braking will put you right to sleep the in side is just as cool as the location I have traveled all over the world and even have a home in the Bahamas on the water but this place is very special if you come to Kona and do not stay here you will miss out on the best part of your trip

Great view but has roaches

Great location. View was amazing. But this place has a very bad roach problem. And they are huge and everywhere. This place cost a lot of money to deal with all the roaches that were there.

On the Water & Cozy

Adorable little cabin/cottage on the water! There was a large swell so we couldn't take advantage of the nearby by beach, but we got to appreciate the ocean from the lanai and loved it.

Perfect place to kick back and feel at home

The checkin process was exchanging COVID vaccination information and getting the key code. Once I we unpacked and got groceries we felt like we were at home. The place was clean, safe and private. The TV broke and was replaced in less than 24 hours ! Great trip ! First in 1.5 years and would do it again in a heartbeat. The waves lulled us to sleep every night.

The view can’t be beat

The view from The Cottage is spectacular. Ocean right out the back door. The cleanliness, or lack thereof, is another story. Floors were extremely dirty and lots of cockroaches, alive and dead, inside the home. Great location, homes needs a thorough cleaning.

Ocean front gem!!

We loved staying at this cottage. The lanai hangs right over the ocean - listening the the crashing waves and seeing the beautiful sunsets every night. Our favorite part was watching the surfers out in the bay and walking right the best snorkel beach on the island.

Great for couples

This property was great but not without it's issues that can be overlooked by the absolutely FANTASTIC views, sounds and vibes. When we arrived, the house was HOT, opened all the windows and doors and within 10 minutes the house was at a reasonable temp. Great location. 10/10 would stay again.

Reviewer Comments: Maybe you have to value intimacy and simplicity as much as we, love the sound of ocean waves 24/7, can live simply with fans rather than A/C, ignore even the amenities like TV, etc., that were provided, and be content to watch the waves, the clouds, and the surfers as much as we to fully appreciate this cottage. I can only say that we certainly did! Congratulations to the designer who built the house, the tasteful decor provided by the owner, appreciation to the property manager who maintains the property and appliances, and all the people of Hawaii whose 'aloha' spirit was personified in each person we met. Mahalo!! P.S. I forgot to mention the efficiency of the pest control company, but most of the tropical pests you expect were already dead when we met!

great vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place was lovely and very convent for getting around. I went walking over to the bay park every morning to go for a snorkel ( only 4 houses down) and it was truly lovely. It was charmingly decorated,with a huge cal king bed that was super comfortable and a well supplied kitchen. The freezer ice maker worked great, I loved that there was a vita-mixer and coffee grinder so I could enjoy the fruits of the island. Loved the two person shower as well. The views are beautiful and I really enjoyed watching the surfers and yellow tang right from the deck or the lanai. I do have to mention that it is loud with the waves pounding on the rocks and hot and humid as the black lava rocks are heated by the sun all day and radiate back heat and moisture all night long. I hate a.c. but with the loud surf, heat and humidity it would be a great option to be able to close the doors and have air flow at night. It was an extra nice feature to find that the house had snorkel gear, two foam surfboards, beach chairs, towels, bags and a cooler for your use.

Perfect Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is perfect for a couple's getaway, you can't be closer to the ocean and the cottage was perfect for two of us. While the couch is also a pull out bed, it may be a bit cramped for 4 persons, unless it is just two kids (but then you don't really have much place to be inside the cottage if the couch is pulled out). Overwhelmingly positive experience with only the couple of negatives that were cited in many of the prior reviews (e.g. no surprises). On the positives, amazing location and views (and the waves crashing on the rocks), quaint cottage, lots of outdoor space for eating and relaxing (nice gas grill and patio furniture), nicely decorated in hawaiian style, newish appliances and everything worked as intended and plenty of kitchenware, etc., lots of gear so you don't have to rent (beach towels, chairs, snorkel gear, rock shoes, boogie boards, a couple of costco longboards, cooler bag, etc.), bed was very comfortable, wifi worked great if you have to be on it (we didn't turn on tv or use netflix, etc., not our thing in Hawaii). While a bit tricky, I paddled out to surf break right in front of house every day from rock pile in front of cottage, mainly a long boarding spot so costco soft tops were fine. Sandy beach/snorkel/surf area (bay) is a 5 min walk south, Magics is a 20 min walk north. Only couple of negatives (minor in my view) are no AC (it got surprisingly hot, even with all the fans going, and I am pretty tolerant of heat) and some island roaches (management is on top of it, you are in the tropics so it is what it is). Amazing place and I would definitely recommend to couples! Hopefully will be back again soon for a longer stay!

The proximity to Kahaluu offered kid friendly snorkeling as many times per day as we wanted, just a 4 minute walk away with no need to cart chairs or beach gear. The waves come right up to the house and we felt that we were living in the ocean! If you love surfing or enjoy watching surfers, this is also the perfect spot as the surf break is out in front of the house.

The Cottage's location can not be beat - just steps from snorkeling, surfing and swimming. We enjoyed seeing fish, eels, turtles right off the back lanai! The Cottage was stocked with everything we needed, and beds/sofas were comfortable. They even have surfboards, body boards, beach chairs and snorkel gear. A warning: the insects (ants, coachroaches), crabs and lizards are definitely a part of indoor life here. Also, there is no A/C so doors and windows must remain open and the ocean is LOUD! (Earplugs were a must for sleeping.) Other than the critters and heat/humidity, I would definitely recommend this rustic cottage.

Perfect Waterfront Location

We had a wonderful week staying at The Cottage. It literally couldn’t be closer to the ocean! It is well equipped, comfortable and clean. A very short walk to the sandy beach and close proximity to everything else Kona has to offer. We plan on returning! Mahalo!

Perfect vacation!!!

Everything you could want and more! Stunning view! The house was stocked with everything we could possibly need. We had breakfast outside watching the surfers every morning. We barbecued and watched the sunset at night. It was a perfect central location for day trip explorations. We would highly recommend to anyone!

Perfect Spot Right on the Ocean

We had a wonderful time here. The cottage is as described and much more. The lanai and yard are beautiful places to relax, watch the ocean, and see the sun set. We had all the furnishings we needed. The sound of waves crashing all night was peaceful and relaxing. The fire pit is a wonderful feature. It's a short walk to snorkel and swim at the beach. The grocery store and other services are just a few minutes down the road. There genuinely was not a single problem we encountered here for 10 days. We look forward to coming back!

Super Quaint Cottage

House on the edge of the ocean

The house has a great layout with a sea breeze terrace. Kitchen was well stocked with a lot of glass Tupperware. Eco friendly and no plastic. Saucepan were lightly used. Color knives (not a huge fan due to the paint. The bedroom with the view of the ocean and surfers was a treat. The bathroom recently remodeled was well made and the double walking shower was relaxing. Plenty of soft towel. Snorkel and surf just at your door step. On the negative side, we have been bother by the construction next door. They start too early to take your breakfast in peace. So ask before booking if they are done. I would say it is soon. They were doing the concrete et the wall. Food and natural food store are near by. Love this house.

Would consider this property again

This was an easy place for the two of us to relax in, and we could relax there. Management was efficient and responsive before we arrived and did not need to be contacted once we did arrive. Proximity to a beach park is a plus, and the views were as promised. Alii Drive is busy, but the property layout mitigates road noise somewhat. Some construction happened next door, but that looks to be nearing completion; similar plans seem in process at the other next-door property. We would consider renting here again, and appreciate how we were treated by management.
