The house was wonderful for our extended family weekend. It was clean, a great lay-out and the overall experience checking-in and out was super simple. We will definitely be booking again for next summer.
Our family enjoyed a lovely stay at the end of August. The weather was great so we were able to take advantage of the large yard and outdoor patio areas. The house is spacious and clean. We've stayed at a number of vacation rentals but this property is by far the most well appointed that we've ever seen. The kitchen was incredibly equipped with practically everything we have at home. There were games, puzzles, books, badminton sets, beach chairs and towels. It all really felt like home and we'd gladly stay again.
Loved this house and property, suited us perfectly. Bedrooms all good, kitchen was great and we did a lot of cooking, loved the yard and the terraces, we ate outside every night.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Historic Vacation Home. The listing was accurate. It is indeed, a very old property, so the fact that doors or drawers might be misaligned is just part of the character. It was quite hot during our stay, but all the bedrooms stayed cool with window AC units. The king and queen beds were comfortable (pillows could stand to be replaced), but the trundle beds were less so for the adults who slept in that room. The kitchen is stocked with every conceivable pot or dish that you could need and we appreciated that there were numerous spices available. We loved driving around the area and made frequent stops at Walker's roadside produce stand and coffee bar. The dining table was a good size for the six of us to play cards around, although the lighting was a lacking in that room. All in all, it was a great place for three couples to spend a wonderful week together. PS If you go here, you *must* buy a locally-made pie at Wilbur's General Store!
It is indeed an old house, but we quickly got the hang of it and found that it had almost all of what the 4 of us needed. We are all cooks and had a great time preparing meals all together in the pretty well appointed kitchen (could have used a bigger skillet). We are all book readers and figured out how to get the lighting we needed (except in the bedrooms). We loved walking to the end of the road to watch the sunsets on the beach. We enjoyed both the South Beach in Little Compton and Horseneck Beach in MA. The local country store (Wilbur's) is pretty well appointed and farm stands and fish stores in the area supplied us with delicious ingredients. We adjusted to the fact that the Internet only worked well in certain rooms, There is A/C only in the bedrooms, but temperatures were comfortable during our stay, so we don't know what it would feel like in the rooms without A/C if temperatures were warmer. The area is beautiful, a mixture of farms, the ocean and lawned properties, including this one (the price to pay is the loud loan mowers for several hours on 2 of the 7 days we were there). Otherwise it is very quiet. And the 2 outdoors sitting areas quite pleasant, if not super comfortable for our old bones! The website says the house can sleep 10 people, but there is not seating for 10 people in the dining room, or kitchen, or the 2 outdoor spaces, only 6 comfortably. We would gladly rent this house again
My friends and I enjoyed a long Labor Day weekend at this lovely cottage. The yard is perfect for games and hanging out, there are farm stands with local produce nearby, and it’s a short walk down a peaceful street to the water.
Our sole purpose in renting this house was to have a place for breakfast and a place to sleep at night. It was a convenient location for sight seeing Boston, Cape Cod, Lexington, Concord as well as Newport and Providence. It’s a historic house so the lighting is dim and seating in the living room was not sufficient to accommodate our entire group. The house is very quaint and our time there was enjoyable.
We loved this house. The location was excellent, in such a beautiful spot in Little Compton. We rode our bikes to Sakonnet Point and Little Compton Commons. Easy access to beautiful beaches and so much outdoor space to enjoy. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
