Mountain Home at Bear Paw on Lake Hiwassee

Our mountain home is now ready to rent. Its features include three bedrooms(two queen beds, two twins), and three bathrooms, each with tub/shower combinations. It is located in a quiet area with seasonal mountain views. The main floor level has solid oak hardwood floors, and soaring tongue and groove pine ceilings. This level features an open great room, a dining room, a stacked rock gas fireplace, a 42 inch flat-scree TV, a VCR/DVD, a fully-equipped kitchen with solid surface countertops, maple cabinets, one bedroom, a large walk-in pantry and a full bath. This floor leads to a large covered deck with a seasonal view of the lake and a year-round view of the mountains.

The upper level has a master suite with solid oak hardwood floors, a television. The master offers a fantastic seasonal view of the lake and a year-round view of the mountains. The master bedroom also has a full bath and a large walk-in closet.

The lower level has a large bedroom with twin beds, a furnished living room with a television, a full bathroom, a full-size washer and dryer, and a deck.

We have wireless internet service in the house.

Our home is located in Bear Paw, which is the only development on gorgeous Lake Hiwassee in the mountains of southwestern North Carolina. Lake Hiwassee is only five to ten minutes walking distance from our home. Lake Hiwassee is an 178-mile long mountain lake that offers casual fishing, boating, and swimming. There is also a shared swimming pool(open from Memorial Day through Labor Day), a marina that rents boats, a tennis court, a basketball court, a child's playground, and a child's fishing pond. A secured entrance gate adds to the feeling of peace and serenity pervading Bear Paw.
There is a new gambling casino with a bowling alley in the town of Murphy.

Relaxing Stay in the Mountains

Stayed here for a weekend while riding motorcycles in the area. 3 of us and we all had our own bedroom and bathroom. Kitchen had all the necessities. FIreplace was nice. Would stay again.

Cozy home

It was a well built older home. Great set up for 2 couples and 2 kids. Master bed was comfortable but not first floor bed. I think when we arrived it hadn’t been rented for a bit. Toilets needed cleaned up. Long black hair in first floor tub. But all in all pretty nice set up for a getaway in Murphy.

Nice to.get away but boring for kids

The property was nice well maintained. Tv should be updated. The cabin is perfect to disconect but there is nothing to do with kids in a 2 hour radio. Closest market is about 40 min away and community roads are narrow and scary at night. Otherwise its perfect quiet place.

The instructions were pretty straight forward. No cell phone service but typical in many parts of the mountains. Place was clean and as advertised. internet kicked off quite often but figured out that when the televisions were not used it wasn't an issue. Access to a golf cart would be nice but other than that we enjoyed our stay.

We would like to use more than 5 stars for Kushner's house. It is an amazing house and we really enjoyed our days. The house is very comfortable and spacious. It was very clean and organized. Inside the house you can find tags with instructions and recommendations, those were very helpful. You can find all that you need for your days: kitchen supplies, bathrooms supplies, board games, DVD, books. You never get bored inside the house. Outside is wonderful, too. You can do hiking around the Paw Bear, walk close to the lake or sitting on the deck. If you are lucky you can see deers and a beautiful fox that walks around the house. Murphy is a nice town, it is about 40 min from the house, there are a lot of restaurants and nice places. We drove to Cataloochee Ski Resort (2 hours to North) and we could enjoy the snow. We recommend the house!!! Thank you Mr Kushner. ***It will be a good idea arrive to the house before the darkness. The path is a little tricky when you get to Sunrise Lane. The Signal is very dark and you cannot see it during the night. (maybe is better if the letters could be white)

Almost Heaven on Earth

Our stay was fabulous. The cabin was as portrayed in listing and better. Our grown children were with us to include a grandbaby. This was our Thanksgiving trip as a family. The layout of the cabin was PERFECT with each room on a separate floor and having a bathroom. The view was perfect with being able to see both mountains and the lake. We loved the bird feeder and were quite entertained with the wildlife. Thank you so very much for sharing your little slice of heaven with our family-----truly thankful------perfect Thanksgiving!!! This is a great location for touring mountains. We easily managed to drive the Balsam Mountain road and and one of our favorite restaurant north of Pegeon Forge in a day trips. We enjoyed the peaceful cabin and its beautiful surroundings between road trips.

We are Ken and Liz Kushner from Tallahassee, Florida. Ken is a math teacher at Lincoln High School and Liz is a registered nurse at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. We have a grown son, Jordan. Retirement is right around the corner for us, and we look forward to having lots of free time to enjoy traveling, hiking, playing tennis, woodworking, golfing, hunting, antiquing, reading, and fishing.

Why they chose this property

We enjoy the serenity that the mountains have to offer. Bear Paw, while maintaining its rustic charm, has amenities that we enjoy including the pool, marina, and tennis courts. We also appreciate the fact that it is a gated community and that the national forest surrounds us. There is no thru traffic, which makes it a very peaceful place.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy being able to go boating and fishing at the marina, which is inside Bear Paw. The tennis courts are convenient so that we can enjoy a game of tennis without having to travel to courts. The Olympic-size swimming pool is a nice place to meet people who live in Bear Paw or are vacationing from other areas. There is also a playground for children adjacent to the swimming pool and a covered pavilion which is nice for family reunions. The roads in Bear Paw are well-maintained, so taking long walks is easy.
