Our family barn is over 100 years old and in 2013 our dad had to make the decision to either renovate or tear it down. He decided to renovate the entire barn, putting in living quarters for a rustic lodge in the hay loft. Located in the middle of the Kansas Countryside it is equipped with a full kitchen, living/dining area, top loft area with 6 sets of bunk beds and pull out couch, 1 bathroom upstairs and full bath/laundry room on the main floor. To go along with this is a deck off the north side that looks out over fields and trees. We hope to have you stay with us and enjoy it as much as our family does!

We were attending a celebration at Lovewell over the weekend and we wanted a location that was just a short drive away and this renovated barn fit our needs perfectly.
Once again, we enjoyed our time at the lodge. You wouldn’t think it from looking at them, but the bunk beds are incredibly comfortable. We even had a chance to play fetch with the welcoming committee — a big fluff of a dog named Bell. She greeted us every morning when we left, and was waiting for us when we got back at night.
The Beautiful countryside setting for this rustic barn loft is private, peaceful, and perfect. This was the ideal environment for my husband to head out hunting ( on separate private land) and for me to stay behind and hike the beautiful fields with our dog. The loft is rustic but still offers the comforts I expect. I was able to cook every meal with what the kitchen had to offer, watch Dish TV or one of the many movies provided, or enjoy the views from the porch. I never needed anything from the host but knew she was close and available if required. The convenience of laundry on the property made packing light for this week possible. My dog was welcome and had plenty of room to run and play with the owner's dog; Belle is a champion at fetch and so friendly, I hated to say goodbye to her. We had a wonderful week and I hope to return.
This was a half way point between Texas and North Dakota so that we could take a puppy to my son. This property was perfect for dogs. The stars at night from the balcony are awesome. Belle, the owner's dog deserves extra treats for her entertainment. She can fetch no matter where you throw the ball from the balcony.
Spacious, rustic lodge in super quiet but convenient location
This loft was spacious, clean and very well appointed. It was a 5 minute drive to Lovewell Lake. Excellent spot if you want a quiet get away or plan on hunting or fishing in North Central KS.
It was a great experience. Maybe a few extras would have been great. Nothing major just a couple things in the kitchen like light, a toaster, cutting board, strainer, more regular plates ( we used paper plates, thank goodness we had some) but we made do. We couldn’t find sheets for the couch, so we moved mattress from the other beds over to make it comfortable. Glad we didn’t have a full house. These things would not prevent us from come back, just makes me more prepared. It was quiet and we loved it! We will come back!

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Kirchhoff
Having lived in the area our entire life this barn is located on our family farm that just celebrated 150 years. In 2014 my dad was diagnosed with cancer and this and our other rental provided an escape from his battles and gave him something extra to focus on. He wanted to be able to share the rustic charm of our area with others and provide my mom with some extra income knowing he wouldn’t be here much longer to help support her. We love hosting as it gives us a chance to see repeat visitors every year, meet new people and share what my dad loved!
Why they chose this property
Quiet peaceful Kansas country living.
What makes this property unique
Although rustic this is an escape from the hustle and bustle the world has become. Being in a barn there isn’t any WiFi, so this is a for sure an unplug and rest location.
