About this property

Historic 9 bedroom estate on world's largest chain of lakes

Indian Point Manor was named after the Indian statue at the SW corner of the property overlooking Catfish Lake. The property was originally built by former Chicago Mayor Edward Kelly in 1929. The mayor and his wife carefully and meticulously planned the property to include such items as a projection room for the theater, a two boat wet boathouse, a great room with 31’ cathedral ceilings and a carriage house above the garage for his security detail.

Indian Point Manor is a massive 9 bedroom house with modern updates and a rich history. Rental of the Manor includes the use of the boathouse with an upper-level game room, a private lookout over the lake and a full sized tennis court and the grounds surrounding. An outdoor fire pit and grilling area are also located next to the main house among the meticulously groomed yard.

The main house is comprised of two levels of stunning architecture and luxurious comforts, bathed in warm light from wall to ceiling windows throughout the main level. The great room is the central hub of the home with 31’ cathedral ceiling, huge stone fireplace, piano, adjustable seating arrangements with large LOVESAC couch and state of the art 85” TV with theater sound. Relax and play board games, enjoy a fire in the wood fireplace or have a movie night. Does your group have talent? Use the 1920’s finely tuned grand piano to belt out some songs or have a dance party with the tremendous surround sound system. At the end of the night relax on the couch and marvel at the petroglyphs carved into the Great Room walls.

The kitchen is the perfect amalgamate of old world charm and modern convenience! The kitchen has been meticulously rehabbed to provide a gourmet cooking experience with a Wolf double stove, new counter tops for plenty of prep space and wall to ceiling cabinetry appointed with everything you’ll need to impress your guests with your culinary skills. The space features a custom walnut island and the original 1930’s GE refrigerator that’s been updated with the latest refrigeration components. There is one dishwasher in the kitchen, and a second dishwasher conveniently located in the attached coffee bar area. There is also a more informal dining area with seating for 8 guests, full tableware and serving settings are provided for up to 48 people.

The property has two master bedrooms, one on each level. Each of the master bedrooms is western facing, measuring 20x19’ and provides a King bed, desk and seating area. Both bedrooms have large walk-in closets with floor to ceiling shelving and a private, attached bath. There are two additional bedrooms on the main level and another five upstairs. See the property photos for bedroom descriptions and locations.

Wolf Tracking Adventure with Teaching Drum School

Our group of 14 adults needed accommodations that would allow for spaced sleeping arrangements, but warm & comfortable community gathering around a fire to share the stories we discovered out in the woods each day. We had plenty of space to create & share meals & the manor was more beautiful & special than even the pictures could convey. And what a great place to come home to after learning about and tracking the wolves who support the positive health of the rich ecosystem in this part of Wisconsin. Fun in the snow!! Thank you!

Beautiful House and Location

This is a lovingly restored property with stunning views over Catfish Lake. The owners have gone to great lengths to preserve the character of the building, whilst providing all the modern conveniences you would expect from a home of this caliber. The steam showers were particularly welcome after a day of subzero cross-country skiing! The house is close to town, but nicely secluded, and all the people we met in Eagle River were incredibly warm and welcoming. A beautiful trip that we will remember fondly for years to come.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What a wonderful getaway! I wish we could afford to rent in the summer. It would be so much fun to boat and do water activities at Indian Point. Regardless of our winter stay, we enjoyed every part of the house! We hope to make this an annual trip!

A Beautifully Restored Slice of Northern WI History

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was absolutely incredible. Modern amenities surround much of the original ornate details that come together to make you feel like you stepped right back into the 1930’s when Indian Point Manor was built. The land the property is situated on is incredible and you could spend all day just exploring around there. The boathouse provided hours of fun every for both the adults and the children in our group. My only criticism, and believe me, it is minor, is that an 8am checkout is brutal when traveling with children. To boot, it was daylight savings, so it was actually even an hour earlier. It kind of ruined our entire last night because everyone was so concerned with getting out by our departure time.

Amazing Trip at "Big Green"

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family has been coming Up North for years & always admired Indian Point Manor form the water. To be able to stay here was a dream come true and the house and grounds exceeded our expectations. The owner kept the historical integrity while providing the modern amenities to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with great appliances, the butler's pantry / coffee bar was well used and the Mayor's office turned bar offered an amazing view of the lake with an evening cocktail. The beds were comfortable and baths were nicely updated including steam showers in the Master Bedrooms! The Great Room & Sun Room provided great gathering spaces plus an oversized mudroom for "stuff" after a day on the lake. The technology in the home is amazing & nice to see someone loves music as much as we do! From the basketball court to the beach to the lakeside deck & hot tub - the outdoor spaces were awesome! The cover for the hot tub is a bit tricky - perhaps from over-use from all of the guests? The boat house offered another option of indoor & outdoor fun with pool, ping pong & more! A wonderful stay that brought the past alive and families together! Thank you!

Beautiful and Historic

We had a great time for our snowmobile trip. There were 16 in our group. The historical information to look at kept us busy all weekend. We spent most of our time in front of the huge fireplace or at the bar. Thank you for allowing us to experience it.
