Tucked in at the base of the mountains on the road to Poas Volcano, conveniently located only 9 kilometres from the International Airport of SJO, make it the perfect start-off point. The Hummingbird house is also near local traditional restaurants, Wildlife zoo, Nurseries, Butterfly farm, Coffee and Chocolate Plantations, The City Mall and the handcraft town of Sarchi. You can be sure there is no shortage of activities to keep your clients, their family/friends busy on their Costa Rican holiday.
Relax in the restful, romantic atmosphere of our distinct and unique themed rooms. Each room has a full bathroom. The porch has handcrafted rocking chairs where you can sit to look at the mountains, birdwatch or simply wonder when is the right moment for a refreshing dip in our private outdoor pool.

Very convenient to airport and beautiful

We needed a place to stay near the airport for our first and this was perfect. Beautiful place. And all the bedrooms were comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen, which was great. 👍

Perfect and wonderful hosts

The house is fantastic, the garden is amazing, and the hosts were so kind to have a neighbor help us checkin when traffic caused us to arrived later than expected

Love the Hummingbird House

Erich has a great property - plenty of space to relax both inside and outside by the pool. We had a small gathering on the patio area and all the guests were impressed with the property. This was our second time staying at the property and will definitely keep it in mind for future bookings.

Hummingbird hill

The host was so flexible with check in and check out times, perfect with the unpredictability of airport delays. The house is large and accommodating. The pool was cool and refreshing after a day of traveling!

Quiet night

Super close to airport if you are coming back from coast area. Would recommend giving sometime in morning since city traffic is wild. Loved looking around at the plants on property and saw two hummingbirds first thing.

Beautiful house and nice owner

We have 6 people stayed in the house for 3 nights. The house is beautiful. The patio has great view in the night. The owner/manager Erich is so nice to get up at 3:30AM to see us off. When one of our Uber drivers refused to take us to the airport, he voluntarily gave 3 of us a ride to airport and did not even accept any payment. To be aware of: The house is relatively isolated from other houses on the street. Suggest to have 6 people stay there as it is so quiet there in the night.

Unique perfection

We got in from a late flight and Eric greeted us with a smile and invitation for an evening dip in the pool which is exactly what the kids needed after a long travel day. We awoke to a beautiful garden where we found birds, fruits, flowers and unique decor that pique our interest around every corner. My 15yr old was unhappy that we only stayed one night. No a/c but was okay with fans and windows open. Be prepared to wake early by noises from the birds.

Beautiful Hillside Property

We really enjoyed our stay at Hummingbird House. It's a gated property 20 minutes away from SJO. Lovely patio area looking at the volcanos across the valley. Plusses: Beautiful pool and outside area. Large house with comfortable bedrooms. Each bedroom has a private bathroom. Great Christmas decorations. Extremely well-equipped kitchen. Great dog! To be aware of: This is an older home. One of the toilets was slow to fill because of water supply. Showers were good, but probably needed an extra scrubbing. The house was otherwise very clean. This is not a walkable house. Cars or taxis are needed.

Nice Home, close to airport

This was a beautiful property. It almost felt like you were staying at your grandmas house because the house is full of books, trinkets, and odds and ends. Kitchen was fully stocked. Beds were comfortable. We were very happy with the home. Host recommended a great place for a steak dinner. I would stay again. Thanks for hosting our overnight stay!

Amazing property

The Hummingbird House was fabulous. Great outdoor area to entertain. Comfortable living spaces. Very good host. Erich even gave us a ride to the rental car place on his way to San Jose. Alex made us a traditional Costa Rican breakfast the last day of our stay. It was amazing! Such good people. We will be back

Cool, eclectic place, convenient to airport

We only stayed here one night on our way to Sierpe. Really cool house, lots of eclectic decor. It was convenient to the airport, about 25 min with traffic and the airport taxis knew how to get there. The host, Erich, lives on the large premises in a separate area. He helped our famished family order food when we arrived. Would not recommend the house for families with toddlers—too much breakable stuff to keep our 2 year old from touching, any other ages would be fine!

Very Accomodating and Close to San Jose Airport

Erich went above and beyond in allowing us to check- in early and was very helpful with restaurant options. Very conveniently located for getting to the airport early in the morning.

Hummingbird House

The property has a great location and has good amenities. We used the pool and patio area to entertain family and there was easily space to entertain 20+ people. The accommodations were clean, but the house could use a good dusting and sweep. Alex the caretaker was attentive and ready to address any issue. Overall, the retal was a good experience and value.

Erich was really nice. Pool was great. Really large place. Great kitchen. fully equipped. Even left even left us some fresh guava juice. We stayed there right from the airport. I would do that again for sure. wish i had more time there. awesome outdoor cooking area. really great place

Nice place close to the airport

Loved this house and wish we could have spent more time here. We only stayed the night before our departure from SJO. But Erich has done a great job making this home a fun place to stay with all kinds of interesting decorations and amenities. He was also very helpful to us in tracking down a location for our COVID testing before returning to the US. Highly recommend it.
