About this property

Salted Roots Red Door A-Frame Cabin

Our new glass-front Aframe cabin was completed in March of 2020. It’s modern appeal includes a master bedroom downstairs, a loft bedroom upstairs, and a sofa couch in the living area for a comfortable stay of 6 people. The unit also includes a beautiful wet room, clawfoot tub, wood pellet stove, kitchenette, and private deck. Set 6 feet off the forest floor, this naturally lit cabin has an especially enchanting canopy view of Resurrection Bay.

Salted Roots Cabins offers 5 private nightly units.

The property is located on the beachfront of Lowell Point. Our cabin is set back in an old growth spruce forest, with fiddleheads, blueberries, and fireweed growing wild during the summer.

You space is modern, clean, and caters to the new generation of adventure travelers. We are remote without being remote.

With views of the mountains and steps from the beach, you can have the luxury of wifi and comfortability in your own little hideaway. Come indulge in privacy will having all of the modern amenities you might need.

Guests have the entire glass-front cabin to themselves. There is also a shared sauna and firepit on property for guest use, as well as garden beds (feel free to use in your summer evening cooking!). Private beach access across the street is also available to our guests.

Matt and KellyAnn are available to answer guest questions and provide recommendations for activities in Seward. The cabin includes its own personalized lockpad for self-check in, so guests do not need to interact with the hosts if they prefer privacy.

We want your experience to cater 100% of your needs, so we are available as often or as little as you'd like.

Beautiful Sunshine filled Weekend getaway.

Such an amazing property, views, access to beach front, cozy perfect getaway cabin. We will definitely be back. I am so grateful to hosts for creating such a spot. The interior design/decoration is so well done, modern, and lovely. I didn't want to leave. Great memories were made, laughs and meals were shared, the antique kaleidoscope brought me back to my childhood. All screens/technology was left behind. I truly did not want to leave. I wanted to live in that cabin in the woods forever.

Fantastic place

The A-frame cottage is fantastic. Beautiful, sparkling clean and with everything you may need during your stay. It is modern and cozy. By far the best place we stayed during our 2 week vacation in Alaska. The beach just across the road in front of it is beautiful and they have some chairs there so you can enjoy the view. They now have 2 more cottages in the property in front (but not obstructing view) of the A-frame ones that you cannot see on the pictures, but they don’t interfere with the experience at all. Will definitely be back if visiting Alaska again!

Awesome

One of the best places our family has stayed at. We are a family of 6 and there was plenty of room for all of us. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with basic items including some spices and oil. Location was close to hiking trails, the town, and the ocean. Only thing I can say negative about this place is it could use some sort of blinds. It was truly a great place to stay. Thank you

Beautiful Cabin

The Salted Roots cabin was absolutely stunning. We spent three wonderful nights there and wished we were able to stay longer! It’s a very quick 10 min drive from the town of seward and there are a couple of fun hiking trails walking distance from the cabin. They have everything you need from cookware to fun board games if your having a night in. Their hospitality was amazing and will forsure book with them again next time we’re in Seward.

We had a wonderful time! We happened to be the very first guests in the brand new Red Door cabin. The place was well set-up and well-thought out, very clean, with modern design mindful of the environment. Delicious coffee and hot sauce made in AK provided by the owners were definitely a plus as well! The owners are responsive and very accommodating. You will absolutely enjoy staying at this cabin! The fact that it is across the road from the ocean with an incredible view of the bay and the mountains will make your stay truly unforgettable.

About the host

We met in San Diego and have always been drawn to salt water. We left in exploration of more things wild: mountains to climb, waters to kayak, trails to run, perspectives to encounter. We spent 3 years on the road, living out of our car and exploring North America’s public lands and communities, stumbling upon spaces, places, and people who inspired us and ultimately sharpened the pencil that created Salted Roots.

Seward won our hearts, with mountains, the ocean, and a national park right in our backyard. Alaska is wild - wild enough for us vagabonds to settle down roots… and then naturally the idea for Salted Roots sprouted. We bought the land in 2017, were married there shortly after, and began throwing together our future plans for the project with close friends. Our community helped us clear the land, build this website, and make our vision a reality.

Why they chose this property

Our service will be pre-emptive, honest, attentive, humble, and modern. This is high-tech, high-touch. We seek to provide the new canvas in the way of hospitality. We are reinventing the concept of Alaskan tourism. We aim to inspire, to change people’s mind, and to give back to the community that continues to inspire us. Cue the music, start the campfire, grab the whiskey, bring a friend, share a story, and stay as long as you’d like. We’re here to start the revolution.
