Exactly as represented, but even better! Loved the dock and outdoor areas. Well appointed with lots of details meant to anticipate needs. Hosts were prompt with responses. Highly recommend!
We loved our stay at this lake cottage. Very cute cottage and guest house.
This cottage had just about everything we needed. We absolutely loved sitting on the lake deck and having a fire pit. Beautiful views nonstop. Can't wait to go back.
What a beautiful and charming place for a holiday!!! The bungalow is just darling. Everything is clean and the decoration is perfect lake-house-chic. The owner was super easy to deal with and we loved being right on the lake. I paddle boarded every morning. Thank you for sharing your special spot with us!!
We had a great time with extended family at the cottage. Details like the sound system, TV streaming, very well equipped kitchen (spices, sharp knifes) made this place great. Loved the paddle board, kayaks, floating pad.
The room over the garage worked well for our extended family. Be aware that the bunk house is very close to the (busy) road, this might bother some people if sleeping with with open windows.
Cottage was very charming! We enjoyed our stay. Kitchen could use some saucepans - as there are several frying pans, a big pot but no saucepans. There is no dishwasher and only 4 kitchen towels - so you you should bring more.
This was a great week to be on the water in a great house. Definitely more open plan then what pictures show. Very comfortable house and ideal location. You are close to Leland, Sutton’s Bay, and Traverse City which was perfect. The owners were great with communication when I had a question. We can’t thank the owners enough for our 2 families having an excellent vacation. The “know before you go” email Kelly sent before we went was perfect. She explains everything about the house in full detail. Perfect location and an awesome house.
Should be 5 stars except for note below.
We had a fantastic stay at Lakeside Leelanau for a week! The cottage is cozy with an incredible dining room with sunset views and lots of nice touches both inside and out to maximize your Northern Michigan experience. We stayed with our little ones and their grandparents and all parties had a blast. The location is so convenient to LeLand, Sleeping Bear, and Sutton’s bay. We love going to dinner at the Cove and soaking up the sun at Sutton’s Bay Beach. Access to the water right off the dock was fun for all parties as well.
The vacation was wonderful and we will hold on to some treasured memories from this trip.
NOTE: do not lock the doorknob to the garage as this is separate from the electronic keypad and will lock you out of the garage. THEN, the host will try to charge you for a locksmith to come out to open it as they do not have a key on property and the cleaning crew does not have one either. I had to escalate this to VRBO support. This is.not addressed in their check-in instructions.
We have been vacationing in Traverse City for over 20 years. This is a great property. The house had everything we needed for the week and the host was informative and easy to work with.
Cute, clean lake front cottage! Owners did a great job decorating and making the most of the space and were very responsive to any questions. Would rent again!
Everything from the beginning was very well organized. Communication was great everystep of the way. The updates to the house have been great as well. We loved being on the west side of the lake, and the outdoor space was terrific. Comfortably sleeps 4 inside the house, and another four in the guest house, which also had some nice updates too. Would recommend and we may be back as well!
Kitchen was well stocked - beds weee comfortable- very quite - nice swimming toys - dock was great - water is quite shallow but nice - water was warm - coachhouse worked well for newborn - driveway is very steep - will rent again -
The house was perfect for us! We came to Traverse City for my FIL Irish Wake. It was wonderful to sit with family and enjoy the beautiful sunsets over the lake while we shared stories of Grandpa. Thank you!!! We’ll be back.
We stayed here with my kids ages 10 & 13 and parents for a fall break getaway. The property worked really well for us! My kids stayed in the room above the garage and had a blast having their own place. We felt like we could spread out, the kitchen was well equipped and the views were amazing. One of our favorite aspects was the breathtaking view of the lake that greated us for breakfast each day. It was too late in the season for water sports but the garage was stocked with tons of things to enjoy the lake - I think we’ll have to come back and book the property again in the summer! It was a great location for exploring Traverse City and the surrounding area as well. Thanks for a great stay!
house was clean but has a musty order. The drive way was super steep and had pot holes to get down to the property this should have been made known in the description as we had a trailer and didn't know we couldn't park there until after we paid. Yes you are on the water but the house needs some updates. Bathroom is peeling off the floor, inside cabinets are a bit dirty, there was food left in the freezer, and water in the filter container from the last visitors. Outside looks nice but for the price per day I expected it to be more like the pictures. sorry
We enjoyed our stay very much at this very cute home. The bunk house above the garage gave us the extra room for our two families to spread out and operate on different wake up schedules! The water was warm and beautiful and sunsets were spectacular. The home came with loads of outdoor fun equipment and the kitchen had all we needed to cook meals (that fridge is awesome and so cute in the freshly updated kitchen). We had to be a bit more eco friendly with our towels since there is no washer or dryer but that’s not a bad thing and there was a line to hang everything on. Sadly the dock was destroyed during a bad storm the week before we arrived and we had already rented a pontoon for a day. But talked to Kelly who said we can talk to the great neighbors who let us use their dock to load our pontoon and launch the kayaks! Overall we had a great time and a beautiful home!!
Beautiful views of Lake Leelanau from most of the house and yard made this a peaceful family getaway. The cottage was well stocked with water sports gear for playing in the water and the kitchen was also better stocked than most. Overall I'd give it a 4 1/2 stars (if I could). If you're doing a long stay there were two things to be mindful of: 1) no washer/dryer or dishwasher; 2) you can only leave the property by car or boat (i.e. the main road it is on is too busy for walks or bike rides off the property). Thanks for the great memories!
We planned this trip before we knew we would be vaccinated, so secluded from others was important. We had always wanted to explore this part of the world and it did not disappoint! We shopped, ate at some fabulous restaurants, hiked the dunes found some fishing holes and relaxed by the fire. Couldn’t have been in a livelier setting for sure!
We had a wonderful time at this charming Lake Leelanau bungalow. The house and mini-apartment above the garage were perfect for two families. Our family enjoyed all of the water toys provided with the rental and spent hours on the deck overlooking the lake. We highly recommend this property!

I grew up in Leelanau County just 5 miles from the property. It's been my dream to own waterfront property and it doesn't get any better than Lake Leelanau! We are Up North in MI very frequently, especially in the summer. And, my parents live just a few miles from the Lake House. My Mom, a retired teacher, and my Dad, a semi-retired contractor, are the perfect pair to help watch over the property when we are not there.
Why they chose this property
Location, location! Just 10 miles to downtown Traverse City, Lake Leelanau also boasts proximity to some of the most charming areas in Leelanau County such us Leland/Fishtown, Sutton's Bay, Northport and Glen Arbor. From the wineries to restaurants to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, there is never a shortage of things to do and areas to explore. Lakeside Leelanau provides privacy and a sandy lake bottom! This is rare to find on most busy lakes in the TC area.
What makes this property unique
The Western-facing property will provide sunset backdrops and memories galore.
