About this property

CONCH SHELL COTTAGE at white sand beach.

CONCH SHELL COTTAGE is at the best location on Nevis .. right at the beach.
Perfect for honeymoon, romantic holiday, one or two person retreat CONCH SHELL COTTAGE is located on a secluded white coral sand beach with the privacy of a picket fence draped in flowering bushes and palms, and acres of beach, yet without being too isolated. The interior of CONCH SHELL COTTAGE, in Caribbean style vaulted ceiling, is bright, inviting and charming with original art by local artists, is immaculately clean and very well maintained. The screened-in porch has a table, chairs, and hammock while the patio has comfortable lounge chairs for sunning, relaxing and reading. You can see the beach, hear the waves curling over the pristine reefs and enjoy the magnificent clear evening sky with moonlight and incredibly bright stars. You will be met at the airport and brought by cab and water taxi to the cottage.

Why we have so many repeat guests: CONCH SHELL COTTAGE is at the best location on Nevis, on a beautiful white coral sand beach near pristine coral reefs and privately hidden by palms and tropical flowering bushes.
Guests mention how incredible the CONCH SHELL COTTAGE staff is and how welcome they feel. Daisy will meet you at the St Kitts airport and transport you to the upscale water taxi. Marlon, tall and smiling, will greet you at the Nevis airport or wherever your water taxi lands on Nevis. He will transport you to the cottage and happily answer your questions on the way. Then Jane or Bonnie will greet you, give you an orientation to the cottage and island, and be available if you have any questions during your stay. Jeannette, the maid, has carefully cleaned the cottage for you. The gardener has created a beautiful garden. Pre-arrival, I will send you info on special car rental, restaurants, things to see and do, airline info etc, Nevis is a unique island. Nevisians are known for their friendly smiles and welcome to visitors. Nevis is special with only about 12,000 people, no high rise buildings (nothing taller than a palm tree allowed), no large cruise ships, no gambling.

April vacation

Our third trip to Nevis and 5th trip to St Kitts/Nevis. Suzanne was once again our gracious host, and when the internet was down in the small cottage we rented she immediately booked us in the much larger villa on the property. The house had recently been redone and was very comfortable - especially the pool! I highly recommend Sugar Mill Real Estate and their rental offerings. Thank you for a great stay!

Beautiful property right on the beach

Conch Shell Cottage is the perfect Caribbean efficiency located right on the beach. Thoughtfully laid out with a combination of indoor, outdoor screened and outdoor areas it’s easy to be comfortable while sleeping, cooking, and relaxing. Doreen and Marian were extremely helpful in navigating the area, and check in and check out. Recommend either renting a car or making a taxi reservation to get groceries as restaurants are a bit of a walk, but the ease of access to the beach, the quiet and the abundant nature (monkeys, mongoose, sheep, goats, chickens, and donkeys) make the removal magical. Bring your books and get ready to relax!

Privacy, perfect retreat spot!

We loved Conch Shell Cottage and would love to return someday. It was a perfect size for us, clean, and offered very easy access to a private beach. The garden was also lovely. We were suprised that the Nisbet Plantation had closed and fallen into disrepair from the COVID crisis affecting tourist access. We had looked forward to droppimg over for a meal. However, it being closed brought us so much more quiet and privacy , it was not an issue. Jane, the owner had made all the arrangements for us to be met at the airport in St Kitts, brought to a water taxi and then met in Nevis by our car rental guy who helped us find the cottage. This was a welcome gift from Jane and was truly priceless.

Nice Spot

Great location close to beach. We enjoyed our stay. Jane and property manager Bonnie made sure everything went smoothly. Our flight was late arriving almost at midnight but they made sure all our connections worked. The cottage was clean and as expected. It is small but works. We were disappointed that Nesbitt resort next door was not open. It closed a couple years ago. It is now beyond reopening without new ownership and major renovations. We rented a car from Marlon Loncke. marlonbrando82@hotmail.com Marlon’s wife was waiting with the car at midnight. She made sure we got to the cottage where Bonnie was waiting to welcome us. Car is necessary if you want to tour the Island. All the restaurants we ate at were great. Bananas, The Rock, Drift, Indian Summer, roadside BBQ, and pizza at Runway Grill just by Nevis airport. A much needed relaxing vacation. Everyone on Nevis was friendly and helpful.

Can I keep this a Secret?

I don’t want to say too many good things or this property will always be booked. Great location, helpful owners, fantastic island. It’s paradise. Nisbet Plantation Resort is right next door, access to beach, pool, beach bar and restaurant. First Class! Recommend Drift, Golden Rock, Yatchmans Grill restaurants, but plenty we missed. Oualie Beach is a shallow, accessible beach for young kids and the disabled. Close to the property. Nevis Botanical Gardens is worth the drive, Thanks again to Jane Paul for all her help, especially considering she was managing cancellations during our stay due to the Coronavirus.

Paradise!!!!

We had a great 2 weeks in Nevis!!! Jane was great! It was seamless getting from airport to the cabin. Marlon was so helpful and gave us a awesome city tour which Jane provided. We rented a car for a week and it is well worth it. The island is easy to drive as it does not have much traffic. This was the first time we drove on left and had no issues. Thanks Jane for all your help and hospitality. The beach is awesome. The donkeys and sheep and monkeys are so fun to watch. Tour St. Kitts it is a well worth it but nice to come back to quiet! Cannot wait to return.

Beautiful Bungalow

The Conch Shell Cottage is a special hidden gem. The Conch Shell abuts the Nisbet Plantation Inn so you have access to all of their amends but it's tucked away so that feel as if you are on the island alone. You wake up to the sound of the ocean, birds chirping, and the wind blowing through the palm trees. The sight out your front door is just as serene. Meticulously maintained, you will never want for anything in this beach bungalow. You are provided with an oven, fridge, microwave, cooler, television, DVD player, and Wi-Fi. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the screened in porch and it was the perfect way to start our relaxing day. We love this cottage and can't wait to return.

I can't say enough good things about this vacation experience. In every respect the property and the people who were involved in this rental exceeded our expectations. The information given to us before arrival was thorough and accurate. The pickup and delivery to the cottage was flawless and the cottage and amenities were excellent. We will be back

Everything as described, and better!

All the glowing reviews are accurate. I'll try to add a couple things others haven't noted. 1. The bed. SO comfortable! I was a little concerned from the photo before we came, because it seemed a bit small and my husband and I are tall and used to a king sized bed. No worries! The mattress is so comfortable, we had enough room, and slept amazingly well. The best was waking up each morning, looking out at the sea, without even having to get out of bed. 2. The solitude. The beach is not busy; on my morning walks I would see at most a couple of people. In the afternoon about 10 locals would gather on Herbert's beach, a short walk from ours. And there are people at Nisbet's, which is super handy if you want a great lunch on the beach or an afternoon cocktail. The house is so private; sitting in the screen porch I felt like we were the only people on the island. 3. Alternative transportation. All the reviews are correct in that Marlon is wonderful, definitely would rent a car from him. And if you want to get around in the evenings, try different restaurants, see all the sights, that's definitely the way to go. However, we decided to hang out mostly at the house, go to town during the work day, have lunch in town, and cook for ourselves in the evening. So we opted for the public buses. They are actually privately owned tricked out vans, with driver-owners licensed by the government. They are painted with colorful designs and names. They all have green license plates that begin with H or HA. You wait at the bus stop (there are lots, all along the main road) or flag one down as you're walking. When you see one going the direction you want to go, you do kind of a downward wave of your hand. It costs $2 US or 4 EC to go into Charlestown. They will drop you off anywhere along the way; if you want a stop off the main road it's an extra dollar. The downside is that they have no schedule, you just have to wait and hope, and they don't run after dark. But we had no issues getting over between 8-10 AM and noon - 2 PM. If you're wondering if this place can be as great as it looks, and as great as everyone says, the answer is YES!! Jane is a great hostess, and the gift she gives you of transportation to the house and the tour of the island by Marlon is a wonderful bonus.

Compact, peaceful, secluded, Beachfront, Perfect

Conch Shell Cottage is compact so need to get used to the space, but a great location, comfortable and well equipped, a perfect base on Nevis. The sea breezes keep it comfortable for sleeping with the doors open and ceiling fan on. All screened and no problems with bugs. We really enjoyed the feeling of seclusion, but good to have Nisbet nearby and nothing on Nevis is too far. Jane Paul was a perfect host, always asking if we needed anything but never intrusive. Good to have her organising transfers which gave us peace of mind for arrival and departure.

perfect in every way

Ideal for a couple-- cosy and comfortable. Beautifully constructed by local island craftsmen. A short walk to the warm ocean or sit in the garden and admire the tropical flowers. Very well equipped so you cater for yourself or very close to fine dining if you prefer. For Conch Shell there is a new meaning to the word paradise. Don't come expecting casinos there are a short boat trip away in St Kitts. Here is peace and tranquility with an abundance of animals roaming free sheep goats and donkeys with the odd monkey. Needless to say it is a place to which you return and we have done so for the past decade and will keep coming as long as we are able. Thanks largely to Jane and Ron the perfect hard working ever attentive owners

Nevis we will be back and Conch Shell Cottage is our first choice to stay

So much has been written before in the reviews and it really is ACCURATE. Yes the waves breaking over the reef, the palm trees, the 'greasy pole' which the birds perch on at Herberts Beach, the Marlon tour, island history, a very colourful small garden, and Jane who is attentive to any needs which may crop up. It was nice to be within walking distance of Nisbets, and if you would like to stretch your legs, walk up to the Mountravers Plantation buildings, it is one of the heritage trails, and you look back to Pinneys Beach, it is not a steep incline. Google Maps has recently updated the satellite view so there is an accurate representation of where Conch Shell is in relation to the other houses. We look forward to returning to find relaxation again. Thank you Jane and Ron.

Perfect for two

We really enjoyed our stay at your cottage on Nevis. It was conveniently located just a short walk from the beach. We could hear the waves crashing on the beach any time of the day. The cottage had enough supplies so that we were able to cook meals and eat them on the screened porch. That was lovely and very private. The Nesbit plantation was within walking distance if we wanted to eat out. The staff at the plantation were very receptive and trusting. That was important to us. Jane and Ron are one of the best hosts we have any so far in our experience with renting vacation homes. She helped arrange our land taxi and water taxi from the airport. Then she hooked us up with Marlon for the car rental and his tour of the island. She provided us with suggestions for restaurants, hikes, boat ride with Dennis, and other sites to see on the island. It was easy with her because she lives right on the property and she checked in with us every day. We can't say enough about how wonderful she is. We would like to add our suggestions on restaurants and things to do with the hopes that it helps upcoming travelers. Marlon's tour you must do if it is the first time on the island. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful and the restaurant there has good Thai food. Dennis does a nice boat tour around the island. (Jane will help you with that) Our favorite restaurants were Bananas, Golden Rock and The Yachtsmen's Club. Don't miss Sunshines Bar on Pinney Beach. That had great food (lobster salad, Yumm) and the view was beautiful. Plus its just a fun place. We are missing Conch Shell Cottage. Everything was perfect. Hope to be back again within the next couple of years. Take Care Jane and Ron.

Quiet island, peaceful cottage

From the well planned arrival, where Jane took care of everything, to the final departure, this trip was peaceful and restful. My wife and I stayed at the Conch Shell Cottage for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Jane met us at the cottage upon arrival and gave us the keys along with some tips. She also brought a book about the history of the island that my wife really enjoyed. Jane arranged a tour of the island, at our convenience, and our tour guide, Marlon, was a treasure. He is proud of his island and knows much of it's history. We were blessed by our time with him. Marlon also rented us our car and made the process so easy, I almost never want to rent in the US again. We also used Jane's recommendation of Dennis Small for an offshore fishing trip. Though the fish weren't biting much, Dennis and his deckhand David, stayed with it and made sure that both of us came home with a fish. What a wonderful experience. We ate that fish most of the week, after grilling it on the barbecue at the cottage. We enjoyed a dinner at TurtleTime our first night of arrival (I would not recommend this drive if it's your first time driving here from America. There are closer spots to eat.) We also had an AMAZING lunch at the Golden Rock Inn. The lobster salad is highly recommended. There is a small resort, Nisbet, down the beach a bit. They have a beach barbecue on Thursday, vendors and live music until 11pm or so. There was not a large crowd and we enjoyed shopping with the local artisans. After shopping, we laid out in the yard of the cottage and stargazed while listening to the live music. Jane really put the cherry on top of this visit by helping coordinate our departure so that I didn't have to worry about it. That was such a relief for us, that it really made a huge difference. This cottage and this island are a wonderful respite from daily life. I hope you get a chance to enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you Jane and Ron for helping us have a wonderful and restful vacation.

It doesn't get much better!

A beautiful retreat surrounded by flowering gardens and waving palm trees with crashing waves as a constant reminder that you are next to a fantastic tropical beach. The small cottage is cozy, bright, and airy; well supplied, and well maintained. The house cleaning and grounds people are friendly and efficient and management is super helpful and proud of their property and reputation. 5 stars for sure.

Conch Shell Cottage is paradise!! The perfect little cottage to listen to the waves and watch palms!

We thoroughly loved our time at Conch Shell Cottage!! Wish we could have stayed longer!! Even though our flight to Nevis on Saturday was canceled by Seaborne, Jane arranged and paid for us to be picked up in St Kitts on Sunday and brought to Nevis. Marlon was waiting for us and brought us to the cottage where our rental car and Jane were waiting for us!! Everything was perfect from then on!! To be able to open my eyes in the morning and see the palms waving and the ocean beyond and hear the wondrous sound of the waves was something I never wanted to leave!!! The beach is just a stroll away and you can walk and enjoy to your hearts content!! We did not find much interesting snorkeling but the water was lovely!! The garden of the cottage is beautiful and quite comfy!! The island of Nevis is unspoiled! Not the crazy touristy rat race of St Martin!! We enjoyed our island tour with Marlin, which again Jane paid for. He was able to show us so many wonderful things and knew the history of the island very well!! We enjoyed the bath!! The lovely lady there gave helpful hints on oils and island treatments for arthritis!! We enjoyed the restaurant on Pinney Beach with the killer bee drink but chose not to spend a lot of time at the touristy beach there. The island is full of monkeys and donkeys that just roam!! The goats and sheep roam as well but they are actually owned by people!! Jane had to tell us how to tell the difference between the sheep (tails down) and goats (tails up) because they are so similar there, the sheep do not grow the wool like home. The cottage itself is small and perfect!! It has a small refrigerator, but Jane loaned us a good sized cooler for keeping beer cold, a small gas stove and a microwave!! All the cookware and utensils needed and a nice grill in the garden! I cannot say enough good things about the cottage, the island or Jane!! We had a wonderful time and strongly recommend!!
