Wonderful Getaway

We enjoyed our time at the cabin! Very clean and they were stocked with items you may need - soaps, coffee, towels, etc. The hosts even left us snacks that came in handy when we were exploring Yellowstone. We drove to Yellowstone each day and really enjoyed our visit.

So don’t expect luxury, its rustic. No dishwasher. And they want u to wash all ur dishes… And its a 45 min from the park. 2.5 hours to Teton entrance as well.

Overall, O.K. Place to Stay

We booked this place last minute after our previous rental was sold so we were lucky to find this place a month before our trip. The property is on Bill's Island (Henry's Lake.) It is in an o.k. location but wasn't ideal for us. There are some beautiful homes around and some not so nice places in this area and kind of reminded us of a lake development back home and more of a party place. If you like riding motorcycles, four wheelers, or side-by-sides, and the noise that goes with them, this is an ideal place for you. The main issue is some young kids ride these at a high rate of speed and expect you to get out of their way and yield to them. One kid on a dirt bike ran right thru a stop sign as we went to turn down the road to the cabin and could have been a disaster. The amount of traffic and noise was just a little much for us but could see being fun if your family was into that. Overall, the cabin was fine for us. As previously noted on another review, would be nice if there was a fan for each room as it does get warm. The shower curtain on the main level appears to have bleach splatter all over it as well as the majority of the towels. Again, minor item but noticeable. The worst thing for us was the rug in front of the fireplace. We noticed an odor in the cabin but never pinpointed it until we decided to play a board game on the rug and there it was. It smelled like dog urine. I'm not sure if pets are allowed or not but it was very noticeable and not sure how it wasn't noticed by the cleaning crew. I did contact Kabino and they said they would send maintenance but at this point, it was towards the end of our stay and we were only around late evening/overnight as we were on the move all day so hopefully, this was addressed. Also, not sure if possible, but a dishwasher and icemaker would be nice if possible. The beds and rooms were fine and the cabin was fine for our needs. We did see a moose and her calf right outside the door on our first night so that was cool to see. The neighbor said that was a regular occurrence but to be careful as one had chased him before. There isn't much in terms of groceries available so may have to get in West Yellowstone. Mac's Inn has a nice float available that I would recommend as we did the kayaks and was a highlight for us. The location is pretty far out and wasn't ideal for us but we made it work. I probably wouldn't chose this location again but it was suitable for our needs.

Woodsy Cabin

Clean and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a nice cabin in the woods. Although you are close to other cabins, it feels remote with lots of trees around. Nice fire pit and grill which we used! It is a fairly long drive to Yellowstone, maybe 45 minutes but if that’s your destination and closer cabins are booked or you just prefer something more private, this is a good option.

Island Park to Yellowtone

This cabin is perfect for a small family/group in a mountain setting on an island (Henry's Lake). There are three bedrooms upstairs with queen beds. The master bedroom is off the kitchen. It is a smaller cabin, but cozy and comfortable. We loved our stay. We were Yellowstone visitors and it was a not a bad drive at all to West Yellowstone (30 min). It is tucked away off the main road and was nice to be in the mountains on an island! It is a very short walk to the lake. 1 block? The bridge/road over the lake is right there close. There is a picnic table and firepit to use. Someone else left wood so we had some for a small fire one night. The kitchen is not big. No big countertops, but it served its purpose for us just fine. It was a place for us to sleep and hang out a little in the evenings. Made simple dinners. Better directions for using the TV etc would be very helpful. A few extra blankets/sheets would be nice. I slept on the couch so my 80 year old father could have the main bedroom. Lucky I had brought two top sheets for the van (AC cold people) :) It was clean-- Nice laundry room. It really is a nice place. Thumbs up from our family.

Cabin for West Yellowstone entrance.

The cabin was clean and comfortable for our party. It was 25 minutes from the West Yellowstone entrance. It was too windy for a fire in the outside fire pit.

Not quite what we expected, more like camping

If you want to camp, this is the place for you. We were looking for somewhere to stay close to Yellowstone. This cabin ended up being a little further than we thought, and about 10 minutes off the main road, and the last 10 minutes are on gravel / dirt roads. So, it is a little out there. It seems like there is a lot to do in the area, camping, fishing, etc. if you are looking for that. Our only focus was Yellowstone. We felt the cabin was smaller than the pictures look and MUCH darker inside. We ate breakfast and packed lunches in the kitchen, did not cook any meals. Just that little, it felt crowded in the small kitchen. The beds are not very comfortable and could use some sprucing up. The cabin is very warm, open window breezes do cool off the bedrooms. It would be nice if there were enough fans for every bedroom. It is very quiet and if you open the window, you can hear everything outside. Unfortunately, we left disappointed, it was not what we were looking for.

Cozy cabin on wooded island

We enjoyed our stay on IP Bill’s Island. Having use of the kitchen, laundry room, grill, fireplace, and picnic table made for a very family friendly get-away. The master bed was very comfortable! We spent time in Yellowstone and exploring all the local fishing options. Would definitely come back again!
