About this property

On our doorstep discover The Wild Atlantic Way and all the splendors of Clare

A fully restored Pub and residence ideally located on Main Street , Ennistymon . This beautiful house offers four bedrooms over three floors , sympathetically restored to retain the old timber bar where friends traditionally gathered to share in conversation over a whisky or a pint . The property offers two full bathrooms , a grand parlor with original fireplace , fully stocked kitchen and of course a warm stove in the hearth .The three story building is set on a full cellar and overlooks the historic Falls Hotel to the rear with the crashing power of the Falls themselves only a short stroll from the house .
Haran’s is conveniently located a stones throw from Eugene’s Bar , a must see for any visitor to Ennistymon . and the award winning coffee shop The Cheese Press , which boasts the best cheese toasty in the country according to the Irish Times . Across the street visitors will find Little Fox , one of seven of the Irish Times’ Great out-of-the places to Eat’ in 2019 .
Ennistymon oozes a classic country charm , offering a collection of cafes , a health food shop , a creperie , second hand shops , music shops , a traditional woolen weaver and plenty of pubs with traditional Irish music . On Saturday morning’s locals muse around the farmers market and every morning and every evening the crows take up position on the roof tops to discuss the business of the day .
Ennistymon is a wonderful base to explore Co Clare , with the Cliffs of Moher just 14km away and the famous surf beach at Lahinch only 3km . The fish restaurants and bars of Liscannor are just 8km from Haran’s and Lisdoonvarna , Fanore , Ballyvaughen , Kilfenora , Milton Malbay , Doonbeg ,Kilkee and Kilrush are all within easy driving distance .
Haran’s will be your quiet , comfortable yet stylish retreat to arrive home to after a busy day exploring the great majestic lunar landscape of the Burren and all the dramatic outdoor delights of County Clare .

Wedding Days

We were in Ireland to get married and needed a spot that was relatively close to the Cliffs of Moher. This house was perfect! Plenty of room for us and a great location. Friendly neighborhood with shops within walking distance. Joan and Pat down the street at Cooley’s House are a real treasure and made us feel like family. Can’t wait to go back and we will definitely plan to stay here again!

Haran's House

Old refurbished bar and home. A bit musty on first floor of building but second and third floor much better. Adequate furnishings. Although located on the main street, fairly quiet inside the home. We had a great time during our stay.

Perfect Village Experience

Would strongly recommend this property and village to anyone looking for something beyond the usual. Very friendly residents. Eugene’s Pub next door is a must. Great food everywhere. The house was very comfortable. Fun decor! Kitchen made it easy and inviting to cook “in”. Communication with host was exceptional.

A fabulous Experience

Staying in this house isn't just a holiday, it's an experience. A wonderful gem on the main street of Ennistymon. This house is also a gallery! Amazing artwork, beautiful furniture & an incredible renovation. A brilliant location too. Only a short journey to Lahinch, Lisvanner, Spanish Point and the cliff. We loved our stay.

Rose of Sharon

We loved our stay and the place!! Gabriel was wonderful to work with, and his communication was excellent. We did this trip as a tribute to our late mother "Sharon", and used Ennistymon as our home base to explore Ireland. It was very convenient to the Cliffs, Lahinch beach, Doolin, the Burren, Aran Islands and many more. We loved being next to Eugene's Pub, and taking in the Irish culture in town. We had 8 guests staying at the property, and it worked brilliantly for everyone.

Charming and Just Perfect

What a charming home…we were delighted with the accommodations and our stay in so many different ways. The location was perfect, right in the center of town allowing a true feel for the charm of the people of County Clare. The home is roomy and spacious and decor delightful. Upon our arrival there was a generous selection of snacks and a bottle of wine greeting us…totally unexpected and truly appreciated. Gabriel was so helpful prior to our arrival providing us with suggestions for a welcome dinner we were planning. He was quick to answer communications and always provided thoughtful responses. He was available to assist through the entire process, from our initial inquiry to our last day when we had a question about leaving his home. This couldn’t have been a more perfect place for us to stay and if we ever find ourselves back in Ireland Gabriel will be the first one we will reach out to. Thank you so much Gabriel.

Hidden Gem in Ennistymon

Gabriel was being modest with the home description it is exquisite. When you open the door you step back in history to a bygone era of comfort and civility. The antique furniture is wonderful and the artwork that covers nearly every wall is eclectic and stunning. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped with everything you need and a giant market up the street can fulfill all your self catering needs. Gabriel answered all of prior questions and even checked in when we arrived to make sure we were happy. The icing on the cake is Eugene's next door, the most friendly and beautiful pub in Ennistymon. This place gets 5 stars because I can't give it 6!

Not really family friendly choice

Although the property is very unique, and clean, it isn’t a very practical stay for families with no washing machine, or TV in sitting room. Building is surrounded by scaffolding awaiting a job, and signs ask that you do not use the windows. CCTV on at all times even when being occupied Upstairs shower leaks all over the floor and comes down through kitchen ceiling Host in very polite and friendly though

magnifique

A unique stay - you wont be dissapointed!

Gabriel is a great host - quick and easy communications, and so accommodating of our requests. The welcome basket was a big hit with adults and kids. The property is unique - beautiful art on the walls and treasure trove of interesting books to enjoy during our stay. The location is superb, a lovely little town and short drive to the most beautiful scenery and beaches Ireland...and Europe has to offer. We even received a much loved teddy bear in the post after accidentally leaving it behind us. Id highly recommend a stay here!

Having been involved with many restoration projects over the years , Haran’s has been the most rewarding . From my involvement with the Haran family themselves , the Townspeople and the beautiful town of Ennistymon , it is my pleasure to share my home and environment with you our guests .

Why they chose this property

This is a beautifully restored family home in Ennistymon . It was originally a bakery in the late 1700’s , the McNamara’s were the local landlords and continued as the landlord’s until the mid 1800’s . Sometime in the early 1800’s Haran’s became a Public House and shop selling milk and butter . Completely unrelated to Haran’s , the McNamara estate centered around what is now the Falls Hotel , this can be see by looking out any of the back windows , Dylan Thomas was married to Kathleen McNamara and visited many times , in fact a drawing-room in the hotel is called after him .The Haran family bought the building in the 1880’s and ran it as a pub and shop until shortly before I bought it . The pub itself was a center for music and poetry for years , having some famous people through its doors I have a picture of Bono from U2 sitting on the window during a festival . Haran’s has appeared on several tourist posters a couple of record sleeves and CD covers . Haran’s has had many players from the Kilfenora Ceili Band and I am told our current President of Ireland used to recite poetry at some of the weekly sessions . Overall , if it’s music you are looking for you have come to the right place , just walk around in the evening .

What makes this property unique

Haran’s is a place where you can relax , read , then go on to discover in Clare the Burren , The Wild Atlantic Way and the world famous Cliffs of Moher , plus Castles , Fortified Tower Houses galore . Not to mention superb local food and music all over .
