About this property

Bartlett Bank - Unique Stay - As Seen in Movies!

The Bartlett National Bank now boasts 2 bedrooms in the old banker office space, a kitchen in what was the old teller station with the teller walls still in tact. The Bank Managers office is now your study and contains letters originally written in that very office in the early 1920's. The old bank vaults serve as a pantry and wine cellar. The soaring ceilings are ornate and showcase the true beauty of this historic building. You'll be able to gaze at the detail while resting on the sleeper sofa in the bank lobby turned living room.

The Bartlett National Bank is a one of a kind stay in the most photographed town in Texas! We can't wait to welcome you! And when its time to go, you won't get a list of 'chores'. We know you are on vacation! We do hope folks will take great care of our historic property, and when you leave our cleaning crew will make it sparkle for the next guest!
You’ll have full access to the entire unit during your stay. Prior to check-in, you'll receive a unique and secure door code, exclusive to your visit. No other guest will have had your code. There are two front doors—the one with the entry code faces Clark Street and is conveniently lit by a street lamp. Just inside, to the right, you'll find the light switch. The Wi-Fi password will be sent along with your door code. Feel free to park anywhere along Clark or Evie Streets.

Inside, you’ll find a guest manual in the kitchen, along with a special book we’ve put together sharing fun stories about the bank, its history, and the renovation process—plus a few anecdotes from our wonderful Bartlett neighbours.

We love this old bank! After many long, hard hours restoring it, we hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do!

Thanks for being our guest,
Rick and Jennifer

Bartlett is a quaint historic town, where you’ll find pieces of its rich past at every turn. Downtown, the vibrant murals invite you to take a walk, with cozy eateries and unique shops adding to the charm.

Everything’s bigger in Texas—even the bugs! While we have regular pest control, you may still come across the occasional critter. Old buildings like this one might have a stray spider, and during certain seasons in Texas, crickets can make an appearance.

Please note, the interior staircase is historic and only 24 inches wide. There’s one bedroom and full bath downstairs, with the second bedroom and bath upstairs, plus a twin bed in the old bank manager’s office—an open, loft-style space. There are no doors upstairs, so be sure to bring your cozy pajamas! The living room also has a sofa bed, providing two sleeping options on the lower level.

We kindly ask that no candles or open flames be used, and that nothing be hung or affixed to the walls. This is a historic building, and we want to preserve its charm for future generations. Thank you for understanding!

From Highway 95, turn onto Bartlett at Clark Street. You'll see the bank at the corner of East Clark and Evie Streets. The property is easily accessible from Temple/Belton, Georgetown, I-35, and Austin.

Great host and stay!

We stayed for my husband's birthday and he loved it! I was worried the bank might be haunted (lol), but it was surprisingly peaceful. I forgot what it was like to be in such a quiet place. We, toddler included, really enjoyed our visit. Thank you, Ms. Welch!

As Distanced as Possible!

I'm a self-proclaimed "bank nerd" so this place has been on my bucket list since a friend told me about it months ago. The building and history are so perfect that it makes up for any other minor things. The space has been converted into a funky, yet very comfy, "home". I'm not sure what the vibe of Bartlett, TX is all year but over New Year's we were the only ones there on the little "Main Street" and none of the businesses seem to be around anymore. I'm so glad these owners created this great space!

A weekend stay that will stay with me

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Bartlett National Bank. I’m a lifetime lover of old buildings and this was such an amazing opportunity. I spent the weekend searching out the smallest details of the craftsmanship and beauty of this historic building. The rental was well appointed for our needs. The interior was simply lovely. The split air conditioning units had no problem keeping up on 100 degree Texas June days. Outside, there is a table and chairs. Perfect for soaking up the peaceful and mostly abandoned Main Street. I thoroughly enjoyed waving back at locals as they drove by. The slow pace was a welcome getaway from daily life. The first bit of traffic we experienced upon driving home felt like I was being pulled out of another time 😔. We’ll be back. The host was so easy to communicate with and very helpful. We joined her and a few others for an evening walking tour of the town. Jennifer was a wealth of knowledge about the town’s history and even included a couple of ghost stories when I mentioned I was interested. Her passion for this bank and this town is contagious!

Disappointed in many levels

My family checked into this VRBO rental space on Friday afternoon around 3:30pm for a brief vacation from our home in Austin, Texas. Although we noticed that the air conditioning was noisy, we did not contact the owner about the noise. Unexpectedly an air conditioning repair man shows up, examines the air conditioning, and explains to us that he would need to return at a later time with another person and ladder to access the roof. He also commented how hard it was to find other people willing to work on the roof and left. Within 20 minutes of his departure one of the AC units started pouring out water onto the floor near a staircase. This was significantly more than a drip and it continued to spill water as long as the unit was running. We needed towels and a bucket to catch the water. This is when we contacted the owner. It is obvious that there was a problem with the air conditioning before our arrival and the problem was not attended to in a timely manner. We were never informed about this issue before we arrived nor given an opportunity to cancel and/or reschedule our visit. This is Texas. It is hot and living without air conditioning is problematic. This is also the time of Covid and we have an unvaccinated 9 year old with us. We needed to ask The repair man to wear a mask when he entered .Having repair persons in the unit was not an acceptable situation. Bartlett is a small town with a mostly deserted main street and really no safe air-conditioned place to go while the repair work was being done. For this reason, we decided to leave the premises and return home in Austin. The owner/agent to this date has denied my request for a refund a

Going back in time

Property is a renovated historic bank with lots of interesting artifacts keeping with the time period. Beautiful architectural details have been preserved. Be aware before you go that there is basically nothing to do in Bartlett except enjoy the history of the area. It is such an easy drive to Georgetown, Salado, and Temple that staying in a virtual ghost town was not an issue, in fact we found it rather charming.

What a gem!!

I stumbled on to this property located midway between our home and where our friends live and had to stay here. My husband is a banker and I couldn’t think of a better way to surprise the group on April 1st! We loved reading about all of the original features and seeing all of the love and hard work that went into this quaint, comfy place to land for the weekend. The TV was never touched… the walls soaked up our laughter and we left with happy hearts and memories that will never leave us. We have stayed in homes on Civil War battlegrounds, ocean front homes with the sound of waves lulling us to sleep and beautiful mountain cabins…. But, THIS little bank in Bartlett is my favorite! Put this place on your list of places to stay!

Unique

Very nice owners. Communicative and friendly. Unique property that’s been given lots of love and care. This would be a perfect venue for a small catered party with a few overnight guests. We were spending a birthday girls weekend shopping in Salado and Georgetown. Would not recommend for a cozy place to stay inside and veg. Otherwise, a good one-of-a-kind experience.

We LOVE historic buildings and we try to save as many as we can. This old Bank renovation and historic preservation was a project filled with passion and love - there is even a love note inside the walls that Rick wrote for Jennifer during the renovation!

Why they chose this property

Bartlett is the most photographed town in Texas - come see what its all about. The Bartlett National Bank was an operating bank from 1904-1931 and again for a brief time in the early 1990's. Its been abandoned all the rest of the years util 2019 when we restored it. We've included as many original features as possible and you will find pieces of the story of the Bartlett National Bank throughout the building. There are surprises at every turn!

What makes this property unique

Where else can you sleep in a historic bank? The bank vault floor is made out of pennies! The front bank vault is now the pantry. Inside the bank Managers office (upstairs) is a letter that was written in that very room in 1925 (make sure you read the letter - its funny!) . While staying in Bartlett, you can walk through town, enjoy coffee at the nearby coffee shop, or head to Granger for BBQ or dancing at the Cotton Club.
