Family Holiday with a baby (under 1)

The property was amazing, just as described on the listing. The views are stunning and worth booking for alone. It was ideal for what we wanted for our family holiday and as the listing describes, is very family friendly and suited our multi generation group. The kitchen was well equipped so made cooking at home really easy.Communication with the property manager was great and was assuring knowing she was on hand throughout the stay, and she gave some good recommendations of a bakery and place to get groceries. We were pleased we rented a car in the end (booked last minute) as the walk down to the town is QUITE a walk and not one you’d want to do every day. Especially with a baby it made it a lot easier to get up and down the hill which we would’ve struggled without. That’s the only thing the listing stretches, saying the town is walkable, I think it makes it sound easier than it is.

“Stunning Views, but Disappointing Cleanliness and Customer Service”

The villa undoubtedly boasts breathtaking views and a fantastic location, which were the highlights of our stay. However, we were deeply disappointed by the cleanliness of the property, which fell far short of our expectations given the price point and high ratings.Upon arrival, we noticed a significant build-up of dust under beds and sofas, dirty mattresses with a large build up of visible dirt. The outdoor table near the pool also required cleaning multiple times. Additionally, there was a persistent sewage smell in the ground-floor bathroom and master bedroom. These issues made our stay uncomfortable, and the state of the mattresses left us so concerned that we chose to sleep fully clothed, which was far from ideal for a relaxing holiday.We chose not to raise these issues during our stay because we felt they reflected fundamental problems that should have been addressed before our arrival. Addressing them immediately would have disrupted our holiday further and seemed unnecessary, as such issues shouldn’t exist in a property of this standard. Instead, we raised them with the owner afterward in the hope of encouraging improvements for future guests.Unfortunately, the response from the owner was defensive, and while a small refund was offered, it did not adequately reflect the inconvenience we experienced. I was hoping for a better response giving more confidence of a better return visit. I’m afraid we will not return to this property.

Relaxing

Views all around were superb, was the wow factor. Sun all day long. Air con was great. Pool was amazing. Location & parking easy. You definitely need to hire a car to stay here which we did. Location to a pub or restaurant was much further than we expected. Attention to detail on cleaning could have been better, shower surrounds/trays need deep clean. Stair wall down to lower bedroom has an obvious problem with damp, & this does smell damp. Our fridge also had overwhelming smell of fish. These things did not detract from a fabulous stay though. We would return.

Great Views

Great position set on the hillside overlooking the town and bay. Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, so no through traffic. Good sized pool with sea views too. Loads of outdoor seating and a very efficient bbq. Rooms were all air conditioned with all the facilities needed to make our stay very comfortable. The stand out for us was the property manager - Lee - who couldn’t be more helpful in welcoming us, making suggestions and even rescuing a parasol that was blown over the edge. She is an absolute star!!!

A wonderful villa, with magical views

We have been lucky enough to stay in many lovely properties booked through Vrbo over the last few years, but Villa Celeste topped all the others and was perfect in every way. These are some of the reasons why :) The views of La Herradura horseshoe-shaped bay and the surrounding hills and forests are simply breathtaking, and the villa was obviously configured to make the most of these whether you are opening your bedroom shutters in the morning, taking meals on the terrace, or lying by the pool. The villa is huge, much bigger than you appreciate from the photos, with 4 big double bedrooms, a really beautifully decorated living/dining room (the picture window is a stroke of genius), and at least 4 areas where you can sit and socialise as a family and follow the sun from early morning to late afternoon. Plus it's totally private, you are not overlooked at all in any part of it. The pool area is so lovely - south-facing, with a big rock wall on the north side, it gets the sun all day, and even with our May weather in the early-mid twenties it was the perfect temperature to swim in. And its pretty big, about 8M so you can actually get some meaningful exercise in if you are so minded. On a couple of occasions we woke to find a couple of mountain goats on the rocks on the far side of the pool area which made for a brilliant photo :) The owners have obviously thought of EVERYTHING to make guests feel as welcome and as at home as possible. So the kitchen has every utensil you'd ever need, plus loads of pans, dishes, tableware, wine glasses etc. There are plenty of comfortable loungers by the pool, lots of towels including beach towels, mattresses toppers, rugs and spare duvets for the beds. The sofas are great, there is air con on every floor, the WIFI and satellite TV work really well, there are books, games, binoculars for the views etc, etc, honestly we couldn't fault a thing. Lee who greeted us, sorted some shopping for us and helped with a back support when my wife put her back out was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Finally the villa is really well situated, 5 mins drive down to the promenade and beach (which has miles of free parking) in La Herradura, loads of restaurants there to choose from too (our favourite was Amarre). Also only 15 mins drive to Nerja and less than that to the Caves of Nerja, well worth a visit. All in all we loved everything about our stay, we couldn't recommend it more.

Perfect location, wonderful and comfortable house, great views.

We had a fantastic stay in villa Celeste in La Herradura. The house is comfortabel and very well decorated, good beds and very complete, inside and outside. We enjoyed the great views, the walks in the park (mountain up! and very close to the house), the sunny weather, the small and friendly restaurants in la Herradura ( especially the Italians) and not really far form interesting Granada and beautiful Malaga. Very kind owners an a helpful property manager. So, if you are not enjoying your holiday in this house, you have a problem!!! Thanks a lot Tim and Lou and we love to come back in May with our children and grandchildren! Gabriele and Aad

The magnificent Villa Celeste

This is a truly magnificent villa, set in a beautiful and unspoilt location with breathtaking panaramic views of La Herradura and the spectacular mountains beyond. Located at the end of a no through road and amongst a small cluster of other luxurious homes, Villa Celeste provides significant privacy and absolute peace and quiete for a truly relaxing holiday. The villa is superbly finished throughout; it is clean, safe and extremely well equipped for all ages and requirements. We were a party of 7 and it was very easy to spread out to find some peace in the shade and read a book or to sunbathe undisturbed whilst others played in the pool and on the table tennis. Correspondence with Tim, the Owner and Rachel, the property Manager (whos office is just a short 5 minute drive to the seafront) was flawless throughout and it was reassuring to know that someone was on hand for advice or to help address any issues... We had a minor problem with the kettle which stopped working on our second day and after a quick chat to Rachel while passing through from the local supermarket, there was a brand new replacement delivered to the door within just a couple of hours - Nothing major, I know, but from past experiences, it's easy to overlook a minor matter which can unnecessarily escalate to something more significant, so important to mention the high standard of support provided by Rachel and Costa Tropical Villas. Tim has clearly spent a lot of time and effort on the fine detail to make Villa Celeste a magnificent place to visit and it certainly impresses in every respect. I could go on, but as all other 5* reviews have already mentioned, this is a superb find which fails to disappoint and I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Tim, Lou, Rachel and the magnificent Villa Celeste for a superb holiday.

Best vacation ever !

THANK You, Tim & Lou for giving us the opportunity to rent this fabulous villa in La Herradura for two weeks this summer. Fantastic view over the bay, sunrise and sunset. Everything in the house worked perfectly, and we (Family of 9 adults and one small child 3 motnhs) have had one of the best holidays ever. Our "morning-guests" (goats) were just a funny experience. We will be back for sure :-)

Goats, table tennis and sunsets

have to start this review simply by agreeing with all the other 5 star reviews here. They are all pretty accurate and Villa Celeste did not disappoint in any way. It is a bit of a trek up from la Herradura and you really do need a car or a taxi back (tip, get the restaurant to order you one). The upside is stunning views, cooling breezes, peace and quiet and a real sense of being amongst nature (goats, wild boar, dolphins in the bay and many different species of birds). We took a walk up through the woods to the Mirador Restaurant one evening and were rewarded with stunning views back west towards Malaga/Nerja. The villa was really well equipped, the nutribullet in particular got heavy use for making 'healthy' fruit smoothie cocktails. The beds were huge and comfortable, the TV and Wi-Fi worked well and the air-con in the bedrooms was useful at night (didn't really need it during the day). The outside spaces, especially the terrace off the downstairs master bedroom were great and the pool was a really good size. The villa and the outside areas were also really clean. This was our 3rd Villa holiday in la Herradura and we really are big fans of the area now and can't wait to explore further. Tim was spot on during the booking process with great communication and it was a real bonus to discover that Rachel Langley was the local agent as we knew her from last year and found her (again) just to be a really helpful, reliable and knowledgeable person. Overall, highly recommended and almost forgot....great binoculars!

Excellent Villa just outside lovely La Herradura

We have just spent 4 weeks at this spacious, well-equipped and comfortable villa. We loved it, and La Herradura has, now discovered, become our favourite coastal town in Spain. Both owner Tim and managing agent Rachel were very helpful and friendly. Strongly recommended, and we hope to return next year.

Superb Villa with stunning views

We have just returned from a glorious week at the Villa Celeste. What an incredible find this villa is!! From the discreet entrance to the amazing views from the patio and the swing chair by the pool.....the villa offers total relaxation. Lots of space for everyone and complete privacy. And from every patio, a stunning view. We barbequed most nights or ate out in the vast array of tapas bars and beach restaurants before falling into the most enormous bed. Luxurious bed linen and soft fluffy towels...just makes me smile remembering it all!! A table tennis table was delivered during our stay. This, combined with the pool and the swing ball gave us more than enough opportunities for activity. We did visit Granada which was about 50mins away. Well worth the journey through the mountains. Tim could not have been more helpful when we first enquired about the villa and the description really doesn't do the property justice. The groceries we ordered were on the kitchen table when we arrived and the wine was chilling in the fridge....but not for long! As you can probably tell, we loved it. Absolutely, we would recommend this villa!

New Favorite Villa in Spain

Villa Celeste lives up to all the expectations and more! It is a very warm, clean and well-thought out home, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. As an example, I have never been at rental before where so many dishes were supplied. We love to cook, eat and drink, so this was greatly appreciated. There were four of us, and we found both master bedrooms (downstairs and upstairs) very comfortable and spacious, with lots of wardrobes/cabinets for storage. But, of course, the main feature of the villa is the view. It is simply second to none! It was amazing to wake up and watch the sunrise every morning straight from our bedroom window. Or we could come down and enjoy it with a cup of coffee through a huge window in the dining room. We did not use the outdoor spaces too much because of the cooler weather, but the numerous terraces and the pool area looked amazing. We can't wait to come back when it's a bit warmer! I can't say enough about the responsiveness and the great customer service - both by the owners and the property management company. We love the area as well, so we definitely plan on coming back!

Céleste le 7e ciel !

En résumé : photos publiées réellement représentatives de la réalité (et la réalité est même mieux !), équipement au top, nous n'avons pas pu trouver en 2 semaines un seul équipement qui aurait manqué. La literie est de grande qualité, nos batteries étaient rechargées après notre séjour. Entretien piscine et jardin discret et efficace. Wifi top partout. Pour les vues, je ne pense pas qu'il doive y avoir beaucoup de villas possédant un panoramique pareil ! Nous avons apprécié les différentes terrasses qui permettent de profiter, en fonction de la température, heure, vent ou pas,... de l'emplacement adéquat. A conseiller plus que vivement mais chuuuuuut, gardons cet endroit pour quelques "happy few" !!! (joke for Tim). Just amazing and gorgeous. Thanks to you Lou & Tim

Excellent Villa with a Fantastic View

We looked at lots of villas on-line before finally deciding on Villa Celeste and we were glad we did. The owners Tim and Lou have been very helpful from start to finish and the service was first class. The villa is clean, spacious and well equipped with an excellent pool and views to die for. We would definitely recommend the villa and will use it again next time we are in the area.

We live in Hertfordshire in the UK and had a fantastic holiday in this area in 2014!

Why they chose this property

The location was new to us & we were attracted to La Herradura’s great balance between tranquillity and having lots to do & see. We also liked the fact that it has a real Spanish identity and flavour, untainted by the tower block hotels & overt commercialism of the Costa del Sol nearby. In fact, La Herradura seems to have a law preventing building over a certain height, which really adds to the pleasant, exclusive & upmarket feel of the town.

Finding the right villa wasn’t easy. It took 11 months & we viewed over 50 villas in the La Herradura area & looked at many more on the web. After seeing many villas with great views but very few with the wow factor view, we knew we wanted the latter. This villa very simply has the best views and best outside area we’ve ever seen!

Being high up enough to see the town, the curve of the bay, the beach and right across the sea was an amazing plus for us. What then clinched it was the largest private pool we had ever seen, 10 metres long, & the sheer space of the villa both inside & out. There is also a huge basement area with so much potential: we have plans to soon convert that into a games room/teenage den/cinema room.

We refurbished the villa in its entirety, hiring a professional interior designer to completely revamp it, buying new furniture and various other features, so as to create an attractive, contemporary and airy feel.

While we’re still working (too hard!) in the UK, we hope to go out there from time to time to enjoy the villa, and in the longer term, who knows? We might be able to visit more often. Hopefully, you will get a lot of pleasure out of it in the meantime!

There is a Private chef available through our concierge service if you want to stay in but not cook as well as Massage & spa treatments available at the villa, and private local guided tours.
You can upgrade to a De-luxe hamper, or champagne & flowers for special occasions all available on arrival if requested.
