Dramatic Oceanfront Cottage with Stunning Views of Acadia National Park!

2 Bedroom, 2 Full Baths sleeps 4 - maximum 6 (new queen sofa bed or hi-rise inflatable air mattress for overflow guests)

Shift into idle in this lovely cottage by the sea. Sleep to the rhythmic sounds of gentle waves lapping on your shore. Prolific wildlife abounds; eagles, loon, osprey and an occasional seal. Sunrises here are some of the most magnificent on planet earth! Her reflection off the sea might even dance across your ceilings if you are an early enough riser and have a desire to connect with the beauty that surrounds you here.

The ocean and all her treasures are right at your footstep with a stunning porch that hangs over the sea and access to some of the finest lobster Maine has to offer just a few doors down at a quint New England, locally-owned, lobster shack. Exceptional panoramic, 180-degree views of Acadia National Park. Conveniently located only 15 minutes from two quintessential New England villages; Blue Hill and Ellsworth for restaurants and shopping. Endless outdoor adventures are to be found in this part of Downeast Maine. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are a 50 minute drive. Nearby hiking, boating, horse-back riding, bike riding, mountain climbing, painting, whale watching, fishing, sailing, kayak rentals and more are all available.

FYI if you are coming with small children; this property is literally right on the ocean. Porch overhangs the water and stairs down to the sea, neither are child proofed. Please take care. That said, the owner's children enjoyed the home since they were wee. Epic Atlantic, typically calm waters for little ones. Also note no play yard. 

This is a non-smoking, no pet vacation rental property.

Beautiful location and home!

We loved our stay at Idle Hour II. Especially all the windows from which we could take in the surroundings. Bar Harbor and Acadia was an easy 45 min drive. Beds (seemed to be the same) were not our favorite for comfort. Everything's was clean and had the amenities we needed. Having 2 camping chairs in the utility room was great - we ate our lunch on Sand Beach in comfort! We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Cottage Getaway

My husband and loved Idle Hour II! The location was perfect, the views are exceptional and it is a very cozy cottage with everything we needed. Perfect area for exploring nearby Bar Harbor and Acadia. And having Ellsworth and Blue Hill both just 10 minutes away for grocery items was super convenient. A world apart.

Can't imagine a better location for our first trip to Acadia/Bar Harbor. The panoramic view of the water can't be beat...and is ever changing with the tides and sky. Its a very peaceful retreat after a day of being among the crowds in BH and Acadia. If you want to sleep in, be sure to bring an eye mask as the light filtering shades on the many windows allow for a bright interior when the sun is shining.

Perfect vacation property

The house was well equipped down to every detail. The house and beds (especially) were very comfortable. It was extremely quiet. But most of all, the views! The sunrise was gorgeous and it was so peaceful sitting on the deck. We fell in love with Maine and this property!

Perfectly Maine

My family (husband and two kids, 8 and 7) spent a week at this charming rental house in Surry, Maine, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The house is beautifully situated in a quiet, picturesque area with stunning views of the surrounding nature. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat, this is the perfect spot. We enjoyed being close enough to explore Bar Harbor and the other coastal towns while still having a serene place to return to each day. The rental house is well-maintained, clean, and very comfortable. It has a cozy charm with modern amenities, which made our stay very pleasant. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like a welcome basket with local treats. The living room was spacious and inviting, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. One of the highlights of the house was the outdoor space. The deck offered a beautiful view of the waterfront, and we spent many mornings enjoying coffee and the fresh Maine air. The property also has direct access to the water which was a major plus with small kids. They could explore in our own private beach and splash in the water!

A dream location

We absolutely loved our week at Idle hour II. The house is incredible and has everything you need. The sheets were so soft and the towels were great. The views are stunning from every room and the area is quiet. We enjoyed having some travel time and agree with Melissa the server from Perry’s lobster shack(it’s walking distance and the food is INCREDIBLE) Surry is the relaxed version of Bar harbor. Stop reading go book and enjoy it like we did!!

Wonderful location

The house was clean and well appointed. We so enjoyed the windows overlooking the water and watching the tide coming and going. It was close to attractions but very quiet and off the beaten path.

60 th birthday celebration

We had a wonderful time with our family at Idle Hour Ii. Everything was as advertised and we felt at home from the moment we set foot inside the cabin/ home. What a location, very peaceful with an excellent lobster stand/ restaurant within 400 feet. Also, the drive to Bar Harbor was very scenic with lots of things to do along the way.

Stunning View

The wall of windows overlooking the water was gorgeous! The deck was nice to watch the tide come and go. Walks along the beach were peaceful and relaxing. We had fun shopping in downtown Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. The sights in Acadia are not to be missed! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Beautiful property

The property was clean and as listed upon arrival. Our son loved having the water right up the the house and being able to fish. The house was well furnished, had extra blankets and adequate kitchen supplies. Any drawbacks were minor; limited food storage (pantry) space and limited local entertainment . Time to Bar Harbor/Acadia approx 50-55 min.

Great location

We were very pleased with our choice of this house. The beautiful location, great window views from both bedrooms, accessibility to Acadia National Park, and the restaurants that were close. The only challenge was the parking spot so close to the road. Otherwise, highly recommend.

Relaxing, awesome and beautiful views!

Glad we chose this place to stay for our vacation. The views were wonderful, right on penisula with water right outside our door. Lots of windows so you could enjoy the beauty surrounding you. If we ever visit Maine again this is where we would hope to be.
