This quaint, inviting retreat is perfect for a romantic getaway for couples or an ideal family bonding vacation for up to four. It has all the amenities you need to be comfortable and is situated ideally in the south side neighborhood of The Cottages at Heron's Landing. Just bring the groceries and you’ll have everything you need to cook your favorite meal. The kitchen, dining area and living room is one large open space for everyone to congregate and spend time cooking, eating and playing together. Weekend getaway

Enjoyed our stay. Minor things to improve. Spotty WiFi, ants in the kitchen, and dishwasher did not clean properly. Otherwise, a delight.

Easy access to the river.

Easy access to the river. We like to go fishing on shore and just relax. We got nothing but I think it just the time of the year. The cottage is nice, quiet and we were able to relax. Friendly and accomodating

Loved the cottage.

Loved the cottage. Hopefully we can return next spring or summer, stay longer & this time bring our bikes to ride the trail. We received a gift card to Red Dog Grill for booking a 2 night weekday stay. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open the 2nd day of our stay. Rich was super accommodating to us & gave us cash instead to go to another restaurant in downtown Ottawa. Great customer service! Thanks again Rich.

We were impressed.

We were impressed. We did not pick ideal days for using your water craft--fall and 50 mile/hour winds, but would love to come back and do that. We were there for hiking in the area and found it to be a great option outside of the lodge. Loved the mid-week privacy and overall setting. Clean and comfortable. Loved your bar/restaurant. Came in for a late lunch before checking in to our cottage, and we were so impressed with the food and drink. Natasha was a great waitress. Came back the next night for an early dinner and again very impressed with the food, and again Natasha served us. She's an asset for sure. Really didn't interact face-to-face with others, but Curry (sp?) was helpful on the phone and Rich did call us about the wifi.

Heritage Harbor was fantastic.

Heritage Harbor was fantastic. As soon as we drove up and could see the cottages, it was love at first sight. Immediate relaxation set it, for pandemic-weary parents of two young kids. We needed a weekend away and this was the perfect place - not too far from home, beautiful nature all around, a pool to take a dip in on a hot summer day, sitting by the river and watching the sun set - just too many to list. We loved it and cannot wait to go back! We called Rich on a couple of occasions as we were settling in. He was so gracious and helpful each time. Thank you, Rich!

This house was great and I will most likely rent it again.

This house was great and I will most likely rent it again. I don't think the bed was a true queen. Instead, I'm pretty sure it was a full size. Other than that everything I needed was there. It was great going to the river to fish and being able to come in and wash my clothes. Drinking my coffee on the porch, and grilling all while watching the Illinois river provided peace and tranquility.

This is my second Heritage Harbor visit.

This is my second Heritage Harbor visit. Last fall we invited another couple to join us in Eddy’s Hideaway. Great accommodations for two couples. This time, Huck Finn was the perfect cozy cottage for three old friends to relax and reconnect. If these walls could talk, they would say, “Thanks for the memories!” Heritage Harbor cottages are spotlessly clean, comfortable and inviting. The grounds are well maintained and the staff is friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be making return visits! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, from my initial phone call to make the reservation to check in and check out. Sorry I forgot the name of the staff member who let us join a tour of new cottages, but thanks!

The only comment I have & by no means will it prevent me from staying again in the future is that the bed is too high for a short person (I am 5'1-1/2" tall) without a step up. The curtains on the doors need to be alittle less sheer so passers by do not see in at night. Again not complaints just thoughts. I will definitely stay again. The staff was very friendly and efficient checking me in quickly and effortlessly sending me on my way to enjoy my stay in record time.

clean, but basic

This community is in development and will become something special in the future. Right now, it is bare bones. The cottage we rented was clean and basic, but many of the items need replacement or repair (kitchen table, bed headboard, swivel chair). There are no extra blankets; only a duvet for the bed and a sheet for the pull out sofa bed. Additionally, the kitchen had nice appliances but was missing a toaster and only 1 dish towel and 2 diswasher pods (we bought more since we stayed 3 nights). FYI, bring your own cooking spices, oil/butter and additional cutlery and dishes depending on how you cook. We suspect that the warmer month include crowded areas and noise (we heard adults yelling back and forth between porches after 9pm). Overall though, a nice place.
