About this property

Historic Star Lake Cottage & Lake Lot

This completely renovated 1900s home is located across the street from Star Lake in the beautiful Adirondack region. There is private lake access & a motorized raft (raft included Memorial Day through Labor Day) located approximately 1/2 mile down the street. The home has 4 bedrooms, which include 3 queen beds, 1 full bed, and 3 single beds. The home features a wrap-around screened-in porch that opens out to the outdoor firepit. There are 2 full bathrooms as well and a tub in the upstairs bath. The kitchen has a new refrigerator, stove, and microwave. There is a laundry room/mudroom off of the kitchen with a new large-capacity washer and dryer. The living room has a new couch and new chairs, a 60" flat-screen TV, and a stereo system. All bed linens and towels are provided, and the house is fully stocked with toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towels, etc.

In Town: A wonderful 9-hole golf course, Circle K Gas Station Pizza & Deli, Twin Lakes Restaurant/Bar, American Legion Bar/Pool/Shuffleboard, U-B’s Mercantile (liquor store, bakery, Pizza, sandwiches), Adirondack Rustics & The Holy Grail (Adirondack gifts/shopping)

Out of Town: The Wild Center (great for kids and adults), Tupper Lake (restaurants, brewery), Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and Adirondack High Peaks (hikers will love this). If you are snowmobiling, we are connected to all of the major trails, and there is so much to do and see! There are local snowmobiling maps in town (I try and leave some at the house, but they end up on snowmobiles!)

Family Fun Week

This property was just as described. There were no surprises. We loved the waterfront access just down the road and took the motorized raft out many times. Fishing was very good and the lake is excellent for paddling kayaks. Hanging out at the sand bar was a lot of fun.

2024 Star Lake Summer Vacation

We had a great time! Cottage had just about everything we needed. Would definitely bring a 4-wheeler to get down to the floating dock next time though. The floating dock and the sand bar was the most fun!!

Great stay

This house had everything we needed. We have been coming up to star lake for 10 years. Our aunt lives right on the lake and we usually rent a cabin around the lake. This year this house was available and we jumped at it because it was across the street from our aunts cabin. It was clean and had everything that we needed. We will definitely be staying here again.

Great place for some quiet relaxation

Stayed here for the 2024 solar eclipse and had a great time. Wanted somewhere pretty well removed from any busy areas and this fit the bill perfectly. Location was nice and quiet, the house was very nice, thought the themed rooms were a great touch. Didn't want for much during our stay, but the first time I had a questions the host responded withing seconds. Would absolutely recommend.

Great place!

Perfect for our weekend at Star Lake. Chris was very responsive with any questions. The lake access was right down the road and the dock was awesome. We took it out fishing, and to the sandbar. The house was fully stocked and very clean. Screened in porch is awesome for early morning coffee and late night relaxing. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal (can’t control Mother Nature!), it was still a nice getaway!

An excellent place and experience

We had two small families together for a group trip to the lake and this property was perfect for our needs. 7 in total with plenty of space to enjoy and the beach site - dock and kayaks was an incredible way to spend the day. The house had everything we needed and the host was very responsive.

Weekend with the boys

Clean, comfortable and a great location. Really enjoyed the lake access. The large screen porch was a perfect spot to hangout when a rain shower passed through and there was plenty of firewood to enjoy a nice evening around the campfire. Great Spot! 👍

Great Adirondak camp to stay at. Wrap around deck so nice. Camp provides just about everything you need. Fire pit very nice. Motorized raft was great and the electric start makes it easy to start. Owner was very quick responding to questions. Care taker, Dean, caught up with us on the lake to refill raft gas tank. That was very nice. Fun relaxing weekend. Thanks

Perfect place

We were in Star Lake to visit family at the hospital. This gave us all the room we needed to accommodate all of us. The screened porch was awesome and the fire pit area was wonderful! Appreciated all of the “extras” included; firewood, paper goods, soaps, etc. The only thing we didn’t care for was there was no clear instructions for where to locate the lakeside property. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we are in the area a couple times each year and would definitely stay here again

The Anderson's are coming back!

This house was awesome! Perfect for family and friends to relax and hangout! Full clean kitchen, towels for everyone, and always quick response from the manager! We had a fire in the pit almost every night, after all the fun excursions from the day. From Alexandria Bay to Upper Tupper! (Thousand Islands, to Tupper Lake Wild-life center) So much more to see and do! Yes, the raft is down the road, and on a steep hill, but all the lake access has a steep hill! I've been coming to this lake my entire life, and I have stayed at places with steeper hills! Being a glacier lake and all.! We spent days on the lake, to the sandbar and all over the lake the raft could take us! We used the kayaks and canoe to get into the tight bays, or for just alone sightseeing. The house had complete maps for walking or boating around the lake! I tried to see it all! I would have to say Dougster and Lynnski would approve of this place! (Doug and Lynn Mead) Please check out the local souvenir shops like Holy Grail and Adirondack Rustics Stores. UB's is also a great spot to get food and things (Liquor and beer) or dine! I try to support local businesses, but Dollar General has everything if you don't want to.

Good place but a few specific issues

Friends and myself go up for a nice fishing trip to the adk every year and find this place. Pros: the cabin was very nice cleanly and had everything we needed. The people on star lake were super friendly and helpful. The lake itself is beautiful. Cons: The listing is a bit misleading. There is no boat launch for this lake so if you bring a boat you won't be able to get it on the water easily if at all. We had to carry our boats down from the road in a random spot and it was a big pain but luckily our boats were small (accept for one that just sat at the house all weekend). As another review mentioned, the info is a bit misleading regarding the "dock" we can use. The access is down the road and incredibly steep and small so you can't get a boat down it and it lugging our fishing equipment was a big pain. The info also contridicts itself as in one spot it says its waterfront and in another it says its not (and when you search for lakefront property this shows up but its not). The fishing wasnt bad, but wasn't great on this lake so if you are looking to fish you may want to look elsewhere but i don't hold that against the owner. Overall we had a good experience and if you don't care about fishing or getting a boat to the water then you will love this place.

Winter Time Family Visit

We traveled to Star Lake to a family reunion celebrating a 90th birthday. The house was a good size, good plan. The heat only worked on the first floor, which eventually found it’s why to the second floor; temps outside in the 20’s and 30’s. Bathrooms were not heated. The sofa in the living room was very uncomfortable, needs replacement. This could be a very interesting place to stay in the summer, however.

Fit our needs. We were a group of 7 with 3 shitzus.

Pros: We enjoyed the cabin. We go out all day and would come back to a warm cozy cabin. There was enough beds for everyone. The whole place was cute and had a ton of things to do and use. We really didn't need much but still enjoyed seeing all It's offerings. The porch is fantastic. It was too cold to sit outside but loved the feature. We were also able to bring my sister's dogs which was great. They even had dog toys and a crate if one needed. They had a ton of kitchen utilities. A washing machine and dryer that was super useful including laundry soap. Games every where. TV and wifi. Lake access. Kayaks, a boat, and a canoe. Cons: The boat motor was taken before we had a chance to try out the boat. That was incredibly disappointing. We had planned to go for an early morning ride before we checked out. It was there the entire weekend but not that morning of check out day. The description of the short walk to the lake access is in adequate. It should say a steep decline to the lake. My mother who is handicap didn't get to see that part of the cabin offerings. Cleanliness: The cabin was not as clean as one would hope. We had to pay a cleaning fee after all. We understand a few cob webs here and there however the wade of hair still in the drain of the big tub was gross. The walls in the bathrooms around the sink and toilet areas were still dirty. They supply everything you can think of but there was no hand soap for the bathroom sinks. Weird and gross! They have an ant problem. There was ant bait out as well as mice traps. We didn't see mice but had to take care of some ants. They were coming out of the spice cupboard. It would probably help out if they cleaned the spice cupboard. That cupboard was a dirty mess. The refrigerator. Oh my. The smell it gives out when opened is enough to make your nose hairs fall off. A good cleaning and an open box of baking soda would really help that situation. The freezer was dirty. We didn't like the leftover ice bags hanging out in there either. That was icky. I don't want someone else's mostly melted away ice. When you open the cabin there was a horrible strong bleachy odor that caused my sister and I to have asthma attacks. Soap and water is all one needs. Broken things: There is a big hole in the upstairs shower that is loosely duck taped. The shower head in that same shower fell on my 72 year old mother's head three times! So watch out! Or is that heads up! The couch is broken too. A big dip in the middle.

Very Comfortable for 2 mature couples

Very comfortable beds (good quality memory foam) and cute decor. Appears to be dog friendly although we didn't have any. Adorable upstairs bathroom serves the three upstairs bedrooms plus the loft that would sleep umpteen people. One couple used that bathroom and the other used the bathroom with shower downstairs (except for quick nightime trips). Rooms were small and only hanging space was hooks on walls. Most drawers had extra linens but beds were high enough to store suitcases under. Since there were only two couples, we used bedroom 3 as a dressing room. Huge TV. Not on cable but Amazon was logged in and if you played around with the streaming you could find shows and news. Wifi very easy to use. Prop manager was down the street and happy to come over to help oldsters with streaming tv but we figured it out. You can see a small slice of the lake from the lovely screened in porch. We didn't use the firepit but it looked inviting. Large Washer and Dryer plus fridge. Easy entry with code. Very responsive owner. Nice place.

Near Star Lake with water access, fun motorized raft

My family, a group of 10 of 3 generations, had lots of fun at 39 Cherry Hill Rd, near Star Lake, NY. The motorized raft and swimming at the sandbar was a highlight, plus the use of canoe and kayaks. The house is well equipped, comfortable beds, linens provided and nice kitchen and laundry appliances. We all had a great time enjoying the firepit, the large screened in porch, lots of board and card games. We had 3 dogs with us , each of them greatly enjoyed the water at the lake.

My wife and I live in Charlotte, NC and frequently vacation in Star Lake! There is no place in the world quite like it. In the winter we snowmobile, in the spring and fall we ride ATVs, and in the summer you can find us on the lake on the raft! If you don't know about the rafts, let me know and I can fill you in!

Why they chose this property

My family has been coming to Star Lake long before I was born. We needed a large property that could accommodate our family. We love the lake!
