About this property

Chalet Forest Views, 2 kings, fireplace, decks

Our cabin that is built to accommodate you, your kids, and grandma (main floor has two bedrooms, no stairs) and another family! Tons of space to spread out, play games, ping pong, pool, karaoke, and enjoy beautiful outdoor time on the deck and in the woods. Also great for couples, with king bed in the loft bedroom, and a king suite in the walkout basement with windows and French doors out to a patio.

Description
Enjoy beautiful wooded views from inside the spacious living room with soaring chalet windows, or up close sightings of elk, deer, squirrels, and birds from the second story deck. Lots of room for family and friends’s gatherings, with inside dining seating 10, and outside dining for 10. Hiking trails are a five minute walk from the front door, or hit the Pine Trail just a 3 minute drive away. Tonto Natural Bridge State Park is just 10 miles away, we love picnics there!

This is a wonderful place for family gatherings, couples' retreats, girls' trips, hiking groups, or even just the two of you for a getaway. We have lots of board games, big TVs, telescope for stargazing on the upper deck, cornhole in the clearing off the downstairs patio, ping pong, pool table, karaoke, real Bingo. This house is made for fun!

In the summer, we grow some herbs for you to snip. We always have lots of basil, but you might also find chives, lemon-thyme, sage, and mint. It's all in pots on the deck so the elk and deer don't help themselves to it. In the winter, we provide firewood for the inside fireplace. No fires outside.

If you like to cook, we've got all the tools you'll need, as well as spices and baking supplies. There is a large outdoor gas grill on the front deck, 2 dining tables to seat 10. Say hello to neighbors as they walk by!

We love to share our home, and want you to feel at home here. Treat it like it's yours, and you will want to come back over and over.

Great Stay for a Getaway

Debbie stayed in contact with us the whole time, and was checking in with us. It was great that she is easily to get a hold off. The cabin was beautiful and the location was perfect. We went in April and the weather was perfect to drink a hot coffee outside on the deck and look out into the serene forest. She had everything we can think of to do. Board games, outdoor games, bird feeding, Sammy the squirrel feeding. a Grill, a fire pit, small trail behind her cabin, picnic table outdoors, and a telescope. Her guidebook helped so much as well. We went to Tonto National park and went hiking. Shopped at the local stores, (The Hippie store was our favorite!)Especially loved the floor plan. The basement is perfect for a small family like mine, they had two beds, plus a wet bar with a pool table and tv, couch and full bathroom. Upstairs had their own little loft and bedroom opened to a deck. The main floor had two bedrooms. Everyone had their own privacy. Would completely reccommend to anyone for a family getaway!Thank You Debbie!

Amazing beautiful home

This cabin is amazing! They thought of everything. The kitchen, bathrooms are fully stocked with anything you could ever need. The cabin is clean, perfectly furnished with multiple sitting areas. Everyone will find something to do, play one of the multiple games, pool/ping pong, sit by the fire on one of the decks watching the wildlife.. the friendly neighbors make you feel right at home. You can’t go wrong renting this home. Debbie was a great host.

Wandering Elk Cabin was great.

This was a great place, it had everything. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The only challenge was the driveway. It was hard to turn around with 2 cars in the driveway. Pulling out of the property is hard to see oncoming traffic. Other than that was a great place to stay.

Relaxing Memorial Day Weekend at Wandering Elk Cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wandering Elk Cabin! From morning to evening, we spent countless hours on the back deck, feeling like we were nestled in a forest. The deck was perfect for stargazing at night and listening to the birds during the day. We even made a little nuthatch friend who would come up to the deck to collect seed, and the hummingbirds were visiting the decorative feeders throughout the day. The house had all the comfortable amenities we needed. Our friends and their daughter had a blast with all the basement games and activities. Many of our days were spent reading on the back porch and in the outdoor hammock, which was incredibly relaxing. The grill was perfect for our Memorial Day cookout, and our dogs loved the cooler temps, hiking, and relaxing outdoors with us. The house is located near many great hiking trails. There was plenty of sleeping space, and the main floor bedrooms are ideal for guests who want to avoid stairs. All the rooms had everything we needed and more! Debbie has curated a special place and is just the most lovely host. She was very responsive in advance, and during the visit. Her informative guidebook was so helpful, and made us feel like we were in a home away from home. Lots of beautiful nature to enjoy, one day we saw a herd of 17 elk pass through the backyard! We even saw a mama cow and her calves meander through the yard. Definitely recommend a weekend (or longer) at this special place, we had a blast! Thank you!

Excellent Host

Debbie is a fantastic host. She goes above and beyond getting you prepped and keeping you informed for the stay. The cabin was very nice and bigger than I anticipated. We had 5 adults a 6 year old and our dogs and never felt crowded. The house was modern and was capable of interfacing with everyone’s various entertainment systems that we brought. The internet was sufficient to have everyone’s phones connected while also allowing streaming and playing games on Xbox. There was plenty of comfortable seating in every room. The fireplace was a big hit and feeding the squirrels was my granddaughter’s favorite morning activity. Due to the weather we didn’t get much of an opportunity to enjoy the available outdoor amenities however; we look forward to using them on a future trip. Some of the entertainment equipment such as the pool table / ping pong table is a little older and worn but that didn’t impact our experience as everyone still had a blast being horrible at both. The inside of the cabin was immaculate and everything was high quality. The outside has some components that are a work in progress and I am sure once completed they will be excellent as well. My only negative comment (and this wasn’t enough of an issue for me not to book again or recommend to friends and family) is the driveway. It’s a little scary the first time or two you use it and easy to miss the first time you pull up. Overall we had a great trip and enjoyed the cabin thoroughly.

Pine Perfection

Our family could not have been more pleased with our visit to the Wandering Elk cabin! The accommodations were perfect for our group of eight. Everyone was very comfortable. This home truly has everything you might need for cooking or entertaining! The kitchen table fit our family plus two guests for our Thanksgiving dinner. The back patio was a real hit with all the bird watching, squirrel feeding, Javalina spotting and elk/deer looking. We didn't see any elk or deer from the porch, but many were seen out on the road. We truly anticipate returning to this perfect spot in the pines of Pine, AZ. Thanks to Debbie for being such a fabulous and accommodating host.

Elk for days!!!

Could not have asked for a better property for our 2 families. The Wondering Elk cabin did not disappoint. We saw elk at the cabin everyday and the kids were able to sit on the patio and enjoy them. One of the most amazing experiences of our lives. If you ever get the chance, you have to try this place out, especially if you love wildlife. The accommodations were amazing and having the cracking of the fire at night was extremely peaceful. Finally, Debbie was the best host we have ever encountered!!! It was hard to write this as we would love to keep this place to ourselves. Honestly, if you are thinking about it, just hit book.

Total Relaxation with Family and Nature

We were so impressed by this gorgeous home beautifully situated amongst the pine trees. The owner, Debbie goes "over the top" with accommodations. she provides every last detail to make your stay the most accommodating and relaxing experience from a fully stocked kitchen, games in the basement, Propane fire pit outside for making s'mores, and a TV with streaming service. Debbie is so in tune with her guests that she makes a "welcome guide" available online that details everything possible about what is included in the home. She does an outstanding job of communicating via email and/or phone. This is by far, the best host we have ever encountered. Thank you Debbie!

The Wandering Elk Cabin, Pine Arizona

My husband and I were looking for the perfect place to escape the heat and just enjoy nature and we definitely found it at The Wandering Elk Cabin!!!! This home is absolutely beautiful inside and out! We enjoyed watching the javelinas in the evening from the deck (it faces into the stunning ponderosa pines), enjoyed watching the resident squirrel “Sammy” while he ate off the deck and entertained us from time to time, and we spent one morning watching the elk graze around the front and back yards from the upper decks! The cabin had everything you could think of and more!! Debbie’s attention to detail was above and beyond! She made sure we had everything we needed and was a phone call away if we had questions. She left hiking trail maps out for us and even left water bottles for our fur babies! We had the best weekend thanks to the Wandering Elk Cabin and the hospitality of Debbie and Dave! We would , without hesitation, recommend this cabin to all our friends and family and we plan to go back with our children and grand kids in the near future! Maureen

Wonderful Cabin

My son got married in Pine at the Tonto bridge park. We reserve three homes in Pine to accommodate friends and family. Wandering Elk was the best cabin and our hostess Debbie was the best. Debbie went out of of her to accommodate our needs, including to our two year old grandson. Theo has a blast with all the flags and animals, including Sammy the squirrel. The cabin became our “Base Camp” and the wedding was perfect. I strongly recommend Wandering Elk.

Beautiful hide-away cabin/chalet in the forest

The rental process from beginning to end was seamless. Debbie created a detailed overview of the surrounding area of local businesses, restaurants, places of interest, etc. She sends to her renters once the contract is initiated. Great idea, this allows the renter time to develop a plan for their stay. She is Extremely well organized and her communication with the renters is second to none. The cabin itself is well stocked, with kitchen appliances, utensils, dinnerware, spices etc. Plenty of seating, inside and out. Views from the 3 decks are amazing, and we loved the wildlife. Seen deer, 3 javelina's, Sammy the squirrel and at least 10 elk within the residential area. Debbie outfitted the cabin with Roku tv's, made for fun time for family gatherings watching movies/popcorn. Then there's the basement living area, game room with pool table, (does need a little work), ping pong table, and lots of board games. This place has everything from comfortable beds, privacy, and entertainment. Truly a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Can't wait to come back. Debbie thank you for being a fantastic host. Perfect cabin getaway

We loved the hostess, Debbie! I’ve personally never experienced such an attentive owner. The cabin was in a nicely wooded forest with lots of elk hence the name! The cabin was clean and very well equipped…. great WiFi , access to smart TVs, modern thermostat, abundance of firewood. She provided quality products and sweet gift upon entering. My granddaughter was so impressed with the personal message left for us! We made most meals at home and had all the equipment readily available. Debbie was quick to respond to any questions that did arise. We are looking forward to a summertime visit.

About the host

Hosted by Debbie Burney

Host profile image
Hello! My name is Debbie, my partner is Dave, and we absolutely love this cabin and the whole Pine community. We have a home in Chandler, and we often block several days between guests to stay at the cabin. It's as much our home as our Chandler house, and we love sharing it.

I had two dreams for many years; one was to live in the woods, and one was to own a vacation rental. With this cabin, I've realized both dreams! I love the feeling when you are on the back deck that you are in your own personal forest, with elk, deer, javelina, squirrels, and birds coming to visit. I even saw a little gray fox one night.

We bought the house in the summer of 2019, enjoyed it ourselves for a year, and then started renting right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I knew families weren't able to take vacations, people had been cooped up for months, so we decided to open our home and share it with people who badly needed to get outdoors and enjoy four seasons and the pine trees.

I try to get to know my guests a little before they arrive, find out what they love to do, learn about any special occasions or celebrations, and answer questions. You may get a phone call from me; I'll make it quick, I promise! I just want to have that human connection, and let you know that my number one goal is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Enjoy your visit to The Wandering Elk Cabin!

Why they chose this property

Since we live in the Valley but love the woods, Pine is a quick and easy getaway. Before buying this cabin, we rented other places in Pine. We learned what made a great vacation rental, and what made one not-so-great, and applied that to making ours the best we could make it. We love the charm of Pine, the people who live around us, and the beauty of nature.

What makes this property unique

You'll feel the love when you walk into the Wandering Elk Cabin. The first thing you'll notice is the huge chalet windows looking out to the ponderosa pines and juniper trees. Then you will notice how spotlessly clean and uncluttered it is, while still giving you that homey cabin feeling.

Next, you'll walk downstairs and see the comfortable sectional sofa, the ping pong table over the pool table, the comfy beds, the wet bar, the 65" Roku TV, and French doors going out to a covered patio and tree-filled backyard. You'll find outdoor games, a hidden picnic table, and Adirondack chairs circling a propane fire-pit.

Once back upstairs, you'll walk up another staircase to the Master bedroom loft. You'll step out the French doors to yet another deck, where some of the best star-gazing is found. The loft is stocked with more games, books, and a big reading chair and ottoman. When you are ready to sleep, you'll relax in the king-size Nova-Form bed with soft sheets and lots of pillows.

You'll never want to leave.
