It's a sun-drenched, safe, serene, 400-square-foot pre-war apartment equipped with top-notch amenities throughout:

This fourth-floor, walk-up apartment is centrally located on East 30th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. It has central heat and air, contains a queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic mattress and box spring (as well as a top-quality, overstuffed chair that turns into a comfy futon bed in less than a minute) and comes with 100% cotton linens, a desk, dresser, flat-screen television and cable TV, free high-speed wireless Internet, toiletries, hair dryer, blackout shades.

Walk to subways, Times Square, Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, the Jacob Javits Center, Greenwich Village, Chelsea. Laundromat is a block away, 24-hour deli at the corner, police precinct house is a block away.

No smoking in the apartment and no loud noise that might disturb neighbors. This is a quiet, residential building. If you're looking for a place to party til late in the night, please don't rent from me.
Note that construction noise on the block that some guests have cited in their reviews is no longer an issue, now that the building is complete.

Great Place, Central Location

We enjoyed our stay in NYC. The apartment was clean and the location was safe, and central. The bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay at this apartment again.

Just Right!

This was a great stay, felt just like home. Everything was as described and in working order. Very detailed instructions and helpful hints for navigating the area. Very responsive and helpful host. Excellent location and close to everything. Would definitely stay again!

Great apartment in great location

Had a great stay at Tom's place. Loved the location. Bed and pillows were great. Host gave great instructions and was there if needed. Would recommend again. Only negative is that it is on Street side and Street can be noisy - ear plugs worked great.

Great apartment - great location!

The apartment was great! It was very nice and clean. The location was terrific for what we wanted to do. It is right around the corner from the Empire State Building and very convenient to subway and buses. Tom was very easy to work with and responded to us very quickly. He provided us with so much information that was very helpful. Great place!!

Great location!

Everything in walking distance. Very safe. We were able to stay out late at night and got home safe. Had some troubles with shower, but it didn't ruin our experience. No elevator, might be hard to get up for older people. Would recommend t to my friends.

Room great, location good, construction loud

All nights were great and apartment is nicely appointed. When it was cold on the first night, Tim made sure I had a room heater the following day. Early mornings were full of backing trucks and banging hammers from construction of building next store. Good value overall. Look forward to coming back.

Everything Tom listed was available and easy to access.

Not owners fault or responsibility but much construction going on with jack hammers and pounding from early am. Nights a bit noisy but not bad. Very convenient location. Great recommendations on places to eat and get groceries! Overall great place-be prepared to get your exercise 4 floors of narrow stairs😉

Location is everything!!!

Overall this is a nice place to stay. Just wish we had bath cloths, a iron and clean comforter & bed sheets to sleep on. Don't try to use the stove cause the smell that comes from turning it on is awful. Those were my only disappointments. I would recommend changing that comforter, White is a no go.

Living like a New Yorker

Nice studio in older building, conveniently located. Clean and well-stocked, although I would not attempt major cooking in the tiny kitchen. Owner helpful and friendly. Steep 4th floor walkup with narrow staircase not suitable for mobility impaired and a struggle with heavy luggage. Street noise can be problematic, particularly at the moment with major construction right next door.

Great location and very clean!

We really enjoyed out stay. The apartment is in a great location and well maintained. It had everything we needed including fresh linen. The bed was very comfortable! We also found Tom's tips very helpful and he was very hospitable and allowed us to leave our bags in the apartment after the agreed check out time. It was also very easy to get to and from Penn Station for our commute to the airport. The only complaints (which we were aware of before we booked) were the 4 flights of stairs with our heavy suitcases were a bit of a challenge! It wasn't a major issue for us - but if you pack heavy and you are out of shape...be prepared!! Also, the locks on the doors were a bit tricky. We got the hang of them after a few tries!

Lovely Apartment in the perfect location!!!!

If you’re looking for a perfect location to stay while in the city, Tom’s apartment is it! I have had the most wonderful experience. The apartment is very spacious for 2-3 people. The bed was comfy! We had to also use the air up mattress for our third person and even it was comfortable. This was much better than a hotel. Make sure that you can walk narrow stairs to get to the 4th floor. I personally didn’t mind that part at all. After all this is New York so if you weren’t in shape before you got here, you will be when you leave. Tom always responded promptly with any questions I had. His instructions were clear on how to navigate the entire stay. I will definitely stay here again! Thank you Tom for a wonderful stay!!!

Great location, cozy, nice to have a kitchen

Location can't be beat -- easy walk (by NYC standards) to Times Square/Broadway, Empire State Building, Central Park, Chelsea, various subway stations, etc. Cozy little apartment with comfortable bed. Easy access instructions and check out. Nice not to deal with hotel atmosphere, cleaning people in and out, etc. It is a steep 4th floor walk-up -- we loved the exercise but maybe not for everyone. It is an NYC street-facing apartment, so there is a lot of noise from the street and nearby construction. Also fairly stuffy and the windows need to be fixed so that they open properly -- at least one or two. As vary minor points, we would have appreciated soap in the shower and dish towels in the kitchen. But overall a really great spot and we'd definitely stay here again.

Great place, great location!

My daughter and I just returned from a special birthday trip to NYC where we thoroughly enjoyed our four nights at this midtown apartment! The outside of the building was nondescript, but the apartment was safe, clean, bright, beautiful and cozy in all the right ways and the four floor walk-up really wasn't an issue. The place has lots of character and yes, the bed was really comfy. We had several meals in and it was nice that the kitchen was so functional. We walked most everywhere, planning our destinations for the day by the direction we were headed in. We did take an Uber(around $15) to Battery Park after a rainy morning and toured the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. After dinner, we just walked back. We were out almost every night and always felt safe. We took advantage of the CityPass, and the proximity of the apartment to the Empire State Building was especially wonderful on that long day we ended with a second trip to the top to see the lights of the city. Tom was responsive and easy to work with. I'm already looking forward to coming back and staying here again!

Oh, the stair workout!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in NYC. We have actually stayed in a few VRBO properties in different areas of the city. This one is mediocre in comparing them all. We loved the easy access to the subway and walking distance to many activities. The bed was comfy. Those stairs a KILLER at the end of a long day of walking! I learned quickly just how out of shape I am. My 7-year-old actually slipped on them coming down one morning. They are steep and narrow and 4 TALL stories high. We had three occasions where we were just walking around getting ready for the day and the neighbor below us banged on the ceiling really hard with something (I can imagine it was a broomstick). We were doing nothing other than walking around. We felt like we just had to sit still and tip toe around. We don’t drink coffee, but there was plenty there for use. There were plenty of extra toiletries as well including shampoo and conditioner and other miscellaneous things. While I would not necessarily choose this apartment again when stacked against others, it is accurately portrayed and served the purpose of a place to rest our heads at the end of a long day— in safety and comfort.

Great place in a great location

This was a girls trip for my daughters 18th birthday and we really enjoyed our stay here. It was close to broadway and easy to get to the subway stations to get the other tourist sites. What also was nice was the place was just enough out of the way that the streets were not overly busy or noisy at night. We felt safe no matter what time of the day we were moving around. I would definitely recommend this VRBO and we would definitely stay here again.

Cute place, not for everyone though!

This would be a cute spot to stay for some but not for everyone! There are 60 stairs to unit, the unit didnt have working radiator heat when I stayed. So the owner brought in a space heater, but you cant leave a space heater plugged in all day while out of the apartment. When returning to unit at night the space heater took about 4 to 5 hours to heat apartment. At any rate that's why I requested an early check out. I also stained the pillows cases on my side of bed. Because I sweat at night and I have purple hair. I did bring an old towel for that on my trip but that night I forgot to put old towel over pillow case. I did stain the pillow and let the owner know. The owner removed those pillows from the bed and the pillow cases, so he could bleach the stain out. I guess the stain did come out but we were only left with 2 pillows instead of the 4 we started with. I would recommend if you sweat and have color that bleeds definitely bring an old towel to sleep on and use it. Then you wont have the problems I did.

Great location and apartment - true to the listing

Overall our stay was fantastic. The apartment is older and the stairs are killer after a long day walking the city but it was quiet, comfortable, and a great location to be close to everything. The listing is correct, if you cannot do four flights of stairs, this is not your apartment. However, if you can, the apartment is just off 5th so it is easy to get anywhere and since it is a bit off the square, the night is much quieter. We had no issues with the neighbors because as we entered the apartment we took off our shoes as was suggested. The bed is very comfortable. I do believe we will stay here again if we visit NY again.
