This rental was a great idea for a weekend getaway. The kids loved being at a cabin on the water and being outside. Only downside was pollen but you can't control nature lol. Everything was cozy and comfortable. Found a great restaurant too and loved being off the grid. 100% would do again!
The house is absolutely perfect for a serene get away. Owner is very helpful and responsive. The kids loved using the crab traps and going out of the kayaks.
Our family had a wonderful, relaxing and peaceful stay. We spent most of our time outside, the property is beautiful. We loved the kayaks and view of the water, flat yard for playing games and sitting around the fire pit. Kitchen was well stocked and I really appreciate the linens and towels, makes a trip so much easier. Host was responsive and kind. Thank you!
This place is beautiful, & it’s a perfect getaway from the city. It was exactly as advertised on VRBO. The space was clean & stocked with many essentials. We also appreciated the small touches, such as the baby gate, as we traveled with a toddler. We definitely plan on visiting again!
The cabin was exactly as described - beautiful, serene, and clean. We had a good time. Weather cold have been better, but we were still able to catch a couple dozen crabs early in the week. Place is a bit remote, it takes awhile to get to other places, but that is what we like. Would recommend this rental to those who love privacy and the serenity of being on the water.
We stayed for a week and had an amazing time! We caught crabs off the back deck. We loved going to Vir-Mar beach and all the local fishing spots. We also tried out the sunset cruise and had a fantastic time! Definitely an amazing vacation and can't wait to go again in the future! Any questions we had were answered quickly, Ryan was a fantastic host!
Cabin on the Cove is a lovely home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed all that the home had to offer! It is most spacious and comfortable. The cove was wonderful for kayaking and my granddaughter taught herself to stand up and paddle board. We played croquet on the lawn several times.
Many thanks for a great holiday!
Cabin was clean, well stocked, located on a quiet cove.We caught crabs at our pier , enjoyed evening kayak trips followed by making s'mores on the camp fire. brought
We enjoyed a relaxing long weekend in this beautiful, peaceful location. The house was clean and comfortable and the hosts are considerate and accommodating. We highly recommend this location for quality family time and outdoor recreation!
We loved our stay at Ryan’s cabin. We especially enjoyed using the SUPs and kayaks he provided. The kitchen has all the equipment you need to prepare meals, and there are plenty of towels. Ryan was wonderful to communicate with - very responsive, kind, and professional. Thanks for a fun and memorable stay!
We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, the view was beautiful and it was secluded and peaceful, yet not a bad drive to restaurants and stores. The owner was very responsive and when the grill ran out of propane while cooking our dinner, he rushed over with his own tank from his personal grill. The kayaks, paddle boards and crab cages were a big hit with the kids.
Loved this property… one of our favorite rentals yet. Very spacious house with a super functional kitchen and comfortable beds. We loved the kayaks and SUPs! Quiet location with a few small towns nearby.
The Cabin on the Cove is a perfect getaway for a family looking for a peaceful and serene location to relax and enjoy nature. It’s quiet with lots of bird activity. We saw osprey, bald eagles, and many others. The quiet cove on the Little Wicocomo River is excellent for kayaking or paddle boarding. If crabbing is your thing, the host provides some crab pots. The house is spacious and well equipped. The host provides great information about the local community and things to do. Many games for family fun are available and the house has a screened in porch that offers nice shade and an open deck in back overlooking River. Overall, we had a great stay with Ryan. Thank you.
The property was great. Very quiet. We played on the kayaks and paddleboards everyday. My kids also went swimming around the dock everyday. It gently slopes down, so there was enough shallow water for my 4 year old to swim, too. The weather was absolutely perfect the beginning of June. We caught a few crabs, which was fun and delicious. Overall a fun and relaxing stay!
This was our family vacation for the summer, the cabin had everything we needed. The kids had a blast on the paddle boards and kayaks, the owner even gave us bait for the crab traps (the kids thought this was really neat). Was not to far to drive to do lots fun things Virgina had to offer.
Our family loved this property. The inside space is ample and gorgeous. It is well equipped inside and outside. Lots of areas to rest and plenty of equipment for water activities. The second floor was a little warm but the owners are working on it. Timely communication with the host and check in instructions and location were pretty straight forward. Highly recommended!
This place is a wonderful, quaint, cabin. The location is removed from the hustle and bustle elsewhere. Ryan was a wonderful host, very responsive to messages. Two things happened during and after our stay. One was when a plastic chair back broke when a friend sat in it normally, but it wasn’t a big deal. Ryan was very understanding and told us it was probably the winter that had been harsh on them. Second, he was willing to check when I accidentally left my water heater there. Whoopsie on my part, but a wonderful host. Thanks Ryan and family for making it such a great place to stay!
What a wonderful cabin on the water. If you want a place off the beaten path, this is it. While it was just my dog and I, this place could easily sleep 12. WiFi worked great. Nice fire pit with wood. Weber grill worked great! While I didn’t have the best of weather, the large leather couch came in handy for those afternoon naps. Ryan was quick to respond to questions. If you want a place to relax and unwind, this is it.
Overall nice. One bedroom is right off the living room, so not ideal if some people are staying up later. The two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom. The house is well stocked with a beautiful view.
We loved the large kitchen where we gathered to cook with plenty of moving room. The great room was comfortable with a beautiful view of the back yard, dock and waterfront. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit where we roasted marshmallows and made s’mores. We enjoyed the peaceful getaway.
Very relaxing, quiet and picture perfect. We totally enjoyed our stay. Home was exactly as listed. We enjoyed quiet time and it provided everything we needed. We will definitely book again.

I know and love this area, my family works and goes to school here. I married the love of my life Jessica in 2006 and we have two boys. Bowe; 18, is currently attending Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va. He's majoring in business and on the baseball team. Cason; 11, is in the 6th grade at Northumberland Middle School. He likes baseball, basketball, and most of all video games. My family enjoys fishing with me, boat rides, cooking, going to the beach, and everything this area has to offer
Why they chose this property
You will enjoy the coziness of a log cabin coupled with the beautiful waterfront views, and the stunning sunsets. The first thing you will notice about the property and this area is the laid back feel. The property has a grill so you can stay home and grill overlooking the water, or enjoy some of the many restaurants in our area. We are conveniently locate 15 minutes from Reedville and 25 minutes from the quaint town of Kilmarnock. We have paddleboards, a kayak, crab pots, and a dock to fish off of. You can swim off of the dock; we recommend wearing water shoes or other type of shoes, as the bottom is muddy and there are some oyster shells that could cut your feet, or you can go to a community beach less than three miles away. Perfect for couples looking to get away and families looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Less than a two hour drive to three cities, amusement parks and other recreation. Once you come to our area you will fall in love with it.
What makes this property unique
After July 4th we will be offering fishing, boat ride, beach tours, and water sport packages.
