About this property

Unique Mountain Cabin on Coker Creek - Hot Tub, HDTV, AC, WiFi

The Nugget on Coker unique cabin is located on a lovely creek in a small valley with a few other cabins. The location is very quiet and peaceful. The sounds of the creek, the breeze in the trees and birdsong are the greatest noise. Every detail in the newly refurbished cabin has been addressed to give you a comfortable, memorable visit. Local artisans designed and built the fireplace, gazebo and wrought iron stair railing. The new kitchen features a gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator with icemaker.
The first floor has an open floor plan with kitchen, living room and dining in one section. The game room and downstairs bath are in a second area.

The Nugget is not a pet friendly property.

Coker Creek is in the Cherokee National Forest with of many opportunities for outdoor activities -- hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, fly fishing -- and yet is within driving distance of the Great Smoky mountains and Pigeon Forge shopping and entertainment as well as scenic rides by car and rail.

Near Championship Golf Courses: Tellico Villlage has three championship golf courses. For a limited time, the village is inviting non-residents to play its private championship courses. The Links at Kahite is a true 'links' course that meanders through a beautiful natuaral setting and offers spectical panoramic view of the Great Smoky Mountains. The Tanasi course has six sets of tees that play from 6,731 to 5,044 yards. The course borders Tellico lake and offers a diversity of appeal from the challenging water holes to the strategic par fives. The Tanasi Clubhouse includes an excellent restaurant that offers casual dining in a beautiful setting. The Toqua course features a classic design that is considered one of the best golf tracks in Tennessee. The course was built into an exquisite natural setting with several holes playing alongside Tellico Lake. Toqua is as challenging as it is beautiful and holes seven through nine may be the most demanding three consecutive holes in the state.

Ocoee River - Olympic White Water Course: In 1996 the Ocoee river was the site of the World's first Olympic whitewater event on a natural river. The river is in a beautiful rocky gorge with Class III & IV rapids. Kayakers are seen on the river year round and rafting outfitters offer trips June-September. The White water center has a one-mile hiking trail which crosses a 330 foot suspension bridge and circles the center. The trail is entirely accessible for those who are physically challenged. There are an additional 20 miles of trails for hikers and mountain bikers, including the Bear Paw Trail and the Chestnut Mountain Trail, both of which are loops. A recent addition, the Thunder Rock Express, has received a lot of positive comments from bikers. The Old Copper Road Historic Trail allows hikers and bikers an easier paced adventure along the restored path that was used to transport copper by wagon from Ducktown to Cleveland before the arrival of the railroad from Blue Ridge.

Fly Fishing - Tellico River and Citico Creek: The Tellico River and surrounding area make up one of Tennessee's classic trout-fishing destinations. The Tellico is best known for heavy stockings and big-fish potential on the main river and on Citico Creek. The Tellico is a big river, offering plenty of room for plenty of fishermen, and the heavily stocked section is more than 13 miles long. Tthe forks of Citico Creek and the Bald River, a major tributary of the Tellico, form the centerpieces of the Citico and Bald River wilderness areas. These streams offer wild trout in unspoiled wilderness settings and, more often than not, no company from other anglers. Guides and outfitters are available and the Cherohala Welcome center provides maps and a wealth of information.

Cleaning supplies were minimal or nonexistent Basic stocking of needs were minimal as well. Towels and mattresses could be updated. Quaint, quiet and cozy. It could just do with a little more effort on the owner’s part.

Beautiful home, but had bed bugs

The cabin is beautiful inside and out and the creek is relaxing. But the last night of our stay we woke up to bed bug bites. The property manager replied quickly the next morning but I have not heard from the owner at all. There was been no attempt to make this situation right. I do have pictures.

Winter vacation

Me and my family saw this cabin and wanted to take a trip so my daughter could see snow. Unfortunately there was none until we left but we went to Cherokee national forest where we did see it. Overall the stay was amazing just some minor issues with the tub not working upstairs, and the fireplace. I would stay again at the nugget! Susan and Amanda were great at responding

The Nugget Review

I was going to give a good review but then they charged me $50 for broken toys that we didn't touch and broken blinds that we didnt even open. We left it cleaner than it was when we arrived

Family vacation

Very beautiful property, very peaceful and quiet, had everything we needed every appliance and equipment that was needed to make meals with. The stream running in the back yard was so peaceful and relaxing to enjoy coffee on in the mornings and just connect with nature and had limited cell phone service and was perfect for disconnecting from the real world. Plan on staying here again in the future!

Great little cabin in a relaxing setting

We were able to experience what it means to stay in the Smokies, with the evening fog rising up in the forest just outside! The little babbling creek just over the balcony with the morning dew slipping off the foliage was so picturesque. Birds singing added to the setting of bliss. We arrived for our 4 day stay, but unfortunately the key code didn't work and the cabin had not been cleaned. The property owner quickly made it right and reimbursed us for a cleaning fee. The property manager made quick work as we left to pick up groceries and all was good. The cabin was cozy, almost completely wood lined with the smell of knotty pine and nicely decorated. The kitchen had all that was needed for our stay and the ice machine worked great. The handicap ramp was nice, but please beware that the inside staircase to the second floor (where the two bedrooms are located) are somewhat steep. The upstairs shower has fantastic pressure, but is a tight fit for a heavier person. We experienced a short electric outage during our stay. After the first cold snap, we found signs of a mouse left in the kitchen. The jacuzzi is fantastic, clean and well maintained. The BBQ grill looked new, with a full tank of gas. The property owner did her best to make sure we enjoyed your stay.

Great location.

This cabin was wonderful for the price. It’s in a beautiful part of Tennessee, the creek in the back was so peaceful and the hot tub was fantastic. You can tell the cabin was older and had been a vacation rental for a while. The beds weren’t too comfortable, the table was a bit sticky from the cleaner they used, but all in all it was great. The only complaint I had was that the door code that we were given when we arrived at 11:00pm was the incorrect code. Trying to get that resolved so late at night, with no cell service was very taxing, but luckily, we did. So, just make sure to double check that the code is in fact the correct code and the rest of your experience will be great! I would book this place again.

Great place, very nice.

It was a great, relaxing get away. It was very clean and stocked with all the basics we needed. Only 2 small problems. The fireplace would not turn on, it was not a big deal, just would have been nice. And my boyfriend and his son could not find a close place to fish. But I'm sure, if you look, there are probably plenty of places close.

Perfect Getaway

We had a wonderful time. This cabin was very homey and relaxing. Think we turned tv on once or twice. Remainder of time we just sat around talking and playing cards. It was the perfect weekend getaway. Very much out of the way from everything! No traffic, no noises, no hustle and bustle. It was calm, quiet, relaxing, and very peaceful. Would definitely stay at the nugget again!

Wonderful vacation

This is a really great cabin! Not all amenities were working when were got there, but when we finally were able to contact the owner, the response was supper quick. She really wants her guests to have a great time! The local property manager was not so responsive, but Susan took care of our needs very promptly. This was our second time here and we will be back !!!!

I am a retired electrical engineer. I grew up in East Tennessee and love the scenery and mountains of the area.

Why they chose this property

After retirement, I decided renovating a mountain cabin would be a great project! For me John Muir's quote 'The mountains are calling and I must go' is a perfect fit.

What makes this property unique

The creek is the focal point of this property and the reason I love it.
