Point House Maine - the way life should be!

Wow - just Wow ! Views that go on for miles! We spent a wonderful week with family ranging from 15 months to 85 years. We were welcomed each morning by seals, herons, and an occasional bald eagle. We rented kayaks for 3 days and had a great time exploring the coves and off shore islands. Perfect location - 1 hr south to Portland, 1 hr north to Boothbay, and of course the Freeport flagship LLBean store. My favorite part was coffee on the beach in the morning searching for the plentiful sea glass. I miss it already ! We will be back 🦞

What a great place for the family to relax and bond!

The pictures of the scenery don't do the area justice. Sunny, foggy, moonlight, you name it, just gorgeous! Plenty of room for the eight of us ranging 18 months to 75 years. The location was great for us. We traveled south to Portland and north to Bar Harbor. Even the White Mountains in New Hampshire were a great day trip. Facility wise, everything worked. The deck's safety is a little sketchy with rotting areas. We didn't feel 100% safe. Peeling paint was a concern with a toddler. Many screens had holes in them. With that said, we understand that everything can't be perfect all of the time. We would love to return for another great summer vacation.

Perfection at Point House!

Our family reunion was a complete success, in no small part because of Point House. With ample indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, spectacular quintessenctial Maine coastal views, and a cooling breeze on hot summer days, we immediately launched into full vacation mode. We loved jumping of the rocks into the ocean followed by an open-air rinse-off in the outdoor shower. Then sunset cocktails on the deck. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a rice cooker! The beds were super comfy. We are already booking for next summer. Thank you Roos! Well done!

Fabulous views

Marvelous location with panoramic views of ocean and islands. Lots to see and do: working lobster boats, pleasure craft, cargo ships passing by. Well equipped house. Comfortable beds. Attentive and responsive owner. No washing machine , so bring your own linens. Somewhat long walkway to house from parking, which could be a problem for those with mobility issues. But excellent home, mainly because of views.

Wicked Awesome!

Views were incredible! Pictures do not do it justice. Very relaxing sitting on the deck listening to the waves roll in. We even had the pleasure of watching 3 seals frolic in the mornings. House was very roomy with lots to do. The beach was fun to look for ocean treasures and enjoy the cool ocean water. The only draw back were the mosquitoes. Bring bug spray. Thank you Sig and Ruthie for an incredible week. We will cherish the memories forever! Hoping to return some day.

Great stay

Unbelievable location and views from most rooms. Classic Maine location: granite ledges and pine trees, lobster boats, surging tides, and rich bird life. House is very comfortable and held all 8 of us easily. There was not a washer and dryer but we managed to get through the week without needing them. Owner was super responsive to any questions.

Wow!

Spectacular views of Casco Bay in an exceptional location on coastal Maine near Popham Beach. We had kayaks delivered and picked up at the property by Seabreeze Kayak in Brunswick and had an outstanding time exploring the beauty of the area on the water.

Incredible location

From the moment we walked in and saw the view from the back of the house, I instantly felt relaxed. I loved all the windows, the fireplace and the meditation board (which was located outside surrounded by the craggy point). I didn’t want to leave!

Beautiful property and location

We had a wonderful time is this stunning location surrounded by water - the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks, watching the lobster boats and the beauty of the sunrises and sunsets all enjoyed on the expansive decks that surround the home. The house itself is very spacious with a large living area, a game room, and a dining area surrounded by windows with views of the water and a well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable. There is also a beautiful private beach. We absolutely loved it here.

Most beautiful property ever!

Our vacation at the West Point house in Phippsburg, ME was incredible! The property is beyond beautiful, sitting on a rocky outcrop surrounded by the ocean, the bay and a cove with a private beach. Watching the lobster boats coming and going, listening to the many songs of the waves in all kinds of weather, enjoying the fabulous sunrises and sunsets were only a few of the pleasant moments. The house itself, was well stocked and spotlessly clean with everything in working order. Thank you Sig, Ruthie and Boston Terrier, Zoloft, for sharing your amazing home with us!

Great Location

Fantastic location, everything we needed for a great stay was in the house. The host, Sig was wonderful.. Sig was only a phone call away and very accommodating. There were plenty of activities for the family and bringing my boat was a big plus. The house has a great mooring right in front of the house. I'll be back Sig.. Thanks Pete Dixon

Amazing location!

This house was amazing! Everything we wanted from our Maine vacation. The views are absolutely incredible. The pictures do not do it justice. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. You are on an island and in somewhat a remote location but close enough to anything that you need. The main grocery and closest city is about 25 mins away. This was the perfect place for our vacation. The house has everything that you need complete with a sauna, Foosball table and outdoor shower. Also, you have your own private beach and hiking tail. We enjoyed many nights at the house cooking our own lobster/seafood feast as well as exploring the surrounding local communities. We had an amazing time and hope to come back to visit sometime. Thanks again!

Highly recommended!

Point House feels so comfortable! Games, puzzles, great beds, all you need for cooking. Outside- incredible sunsets, star gazing, the waves lulling you to sleep. We were an extended family of 12 and felt there was plenty of room. We all loved the private beach, tide pools and sea glass collecting, as well as kayaking. Need to go exploring further?- Maine Maritime Museum is close by, as is Popham Beach State Park. Don't miss Totman Preserve. With 12 people the water storage is stretched to max so you must conserve. So glad we found this Maine gem!

I want to return!

This home was amazing and I would heartily recommend it to my closest friends and family. Aside from the magnificent views, it was a great "travel base" to nearby attractions including spa, parks, kayaking and great restaurants. It afforded us a peaceful and convenient stay and was conducive to lazy afternoons as well as staying in and cooking our own fabulous lobster dinners! Do not want to forget to mention the neighbor whom we contracted to take us on a water tour and gave us a demo on lobstering!

Exceeded Our Expectations!!!

Upon arrival we were all blown away by the magnificent views looking out at the many islands off West Point, Maine. We soon knew this was going to be a relaxing, peaceful week listening to the ocean surf beating against the rocks 30 feet below us. Watching the tides rise and recede, the lobster boats coming and going and the kayakers passing by was a daily occurrence. The house is large enough to cook and enjoy a home cooked seafood dinner for 8, or find a quiet spot to sit and just enjoy a favorite book. I especially enjoyed the outdoor hot shower to wash off the salt water—quite invigorating!! The house was outfitted with all necessary kitchen appliances, pot and pans, and utensils to cook large meals. Although there is a TV we never used it. The Wi-Fi did come in handy as the cell service is spotty. The land line did allow us to make phone calls when necessary. The bedrooms are large and beds very comfortable and all bedrooms have many windows which provided breadth taking views and allowed the sound of the surf to serenade us to sleep. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the large home, many comfortable couches and chairs, game room with Foosball table and sauna. There is also a wood burning stove, we didn’t need it, and a game table for those who want to do one of the jigsaw puzzles. We have decided to return next year and can’t wait to head north for another week in the Point House on the Maine coast.

Peaceful Easy Feeling

Although this house sits in a small community circle it is remote, sitting literally on the end of the rocks. The views from the house are wonderful! Upon arrival the owner contacted us to make sure everything was in order and welcomed us. I was slightly disappointed in the cleanliness from the prior renters, but it was nothing that would deter me from leasing again ! I certainly appreciated the option to bring my dogs, they had a great time and our one dog did NOT want to go home! We found a local reserve ~ Totman's ~ that has a great beach and just requires a quick stop at the town hall for a free permit. If you're looking for all the lobster places to be open I would suggest that you plan your trip prior to Labor Day, we found a lot of them closed. However, we still found plenty of the famous Maine Lobster to enjoy. This was truly a peaceful vacation, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back !

Amazing. Never wanted to leave!

Overview: My (large) family rented both of the owner's properties for a week in August 2012. I can honestly say I've never been anywhere so fantastic in all my life, and my family feels very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here. Pros: Not only were we able to accommodate lots of kids and adults, we had an amazing location and two beautiful houses to do it in. I was lucky enough to stay in this house and the photos just don't do it justice. You are literally on top of the ocean with views for miles. It's peaceful, quiet and makes you never want to leave. We will definitely try to come back in the future. Cons: The water system can be a bit finicky, and the entire county lost power one night which made for an interesting evening with so many kids, but none of it hindered the beauty and wonder of the location one bit.

A perfect location -- a great vacation!

The perfect spot for a 'multi-purpose' family vacation! Unbelievable ocean front location provides for beautiful, restoring views of the ocean. We read, sunbath and bird watch from the comfortable deck. On more active days we can hike Morse Mountain, play in the waves at Popham Beach or swim in a fresh water pond just down the road. We can also just walk down to the beach for a swim, an exploration of the tide pools or a long kayak paddle! In Bath, twenty minutes away, you'll find interesting shops, great restaurants and the wonderful Maritime Museum. The house had everything we needed for a perfect vacation. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The windowed 'game room' is a favorite spot for my teenagers who enjoy the foosball table and the amazing views! We'll be back next year!

Gorgeous site

Our family of 6 adults and one small child gathered here and it was a spectacular spot. The dining room is all windows to the water and porches were just breezy enough to deter mosquitos (most of the time...it's still Maine). There is cove access just down the walkway, and the owner was very helpful. There is a good local restaurant a short drive from the house, Popham beach is close, and Bath is 20-30 min away. Mostly we stayed at the house, because there was so little incentive to leave!
