Hidden gem in the trees.

A beautifully maintained and presented cottage hideaway. We found the property very well equipped and comfortable and loved the fact that we had our own private garden in the woods - the built in BBQ was a particular bonus. The owners were helpful and gave detailed and informative instructions and information. We would heartily recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a cosy, relaxing break.

Compact but enough

A small but pleasant cottage however not as isolated as we had hoped or as the photos showed. All the garden / forest photos are actually at the back of the property and whilst they are private and lovely to sit in and enjoy, you have to walk around the property to access them. This means that we had to lock the door as there are 25 apartments to the front of the property and you have no vision of the front door if you are at the back. The Woodlands Hotel is a mere 30 second walk away and serves fabulous meals at reasonable prices. The staff were very welcoming and there is no dress code so if you have been walking you can go straight in for a drink on your way back. Overall we enjoyed our stay but feel that it was too expensive for what we got.

Perfect for a weekend getaway.

The property is idyllic and absolutely perfect for a quiet break. The cottage is secluded and very private, something you would not get at a hotel. It is clean and very well maintained. The hosts provided us with perfect directions and information about the cottage and and the surrounding area. Will definitely be back.

Little House in the woods.

From booking, to the end of our stay, everything was amazing. Rose cottage has its own private garden and wood, very well equipped, and a stones throw away from the hotel next door, with good food and service. Even had a call from the owner to inform us of problems on the road the day we were leaving. Excellent customer service.

Lovely spot with plenty to do. The girls really enjoyed Foulshaw Moss,

The owners were very helpful and it was really handy that bits and pieces like washing up liquid, tea towels, tea bags, toilet roll, etc were all provided 🙂

Very cute and cosy - perfect base for exploring the Lake District

We stayed at Rose Cottage for New Years and couldn’t have been happier. The cottage was toasty warm when we arrived and all our needs catered for in a very thoughtful way. Loved the jacuzzi bath after a long day walking! There were even Xmas decorations to make the cottage feel like home. We will be returning 😀

Neat and clean, contains everything you need and very private

We used this as a base for cycling in the Lake District. We were really lucky with the weather and this was a very welcoming cool place to return to at the end of the day. We tended to eat out at lunchtime and cook for ourselves in the evening and the kitchen is well-equipped for this. If I were to suggest an improvement, from a personal view only, the trees at the back could be trimmed to provide more sunshine in the evening, encouraging more use of the lovely space at the rear of the property. I have recommended this property to friends :)

Lovely property which is more spacious than pics.

The garden is a great asset and a tranquil place to sit and read. The only niggle was that, with the upper bunk above, it is difficult to sit up in bed and read and there is no lamp or light switch near the bed. Apart from that I would happily return.

Lovely peaceful stay

We had such a lovely stay in this cottage. I stayed with my partner and 3 year old and we all loved it! We managed to see deer every morning outside the window. We can not wait to book here again! Thank you so much Andy for letting us stay here!

Responses were really prompt and information helpful. One of the easiest holiday lets we have had.

Cosy cottage in a peaceful location. You have everything you need. We particularly enjoyed the bath! Thanks Andy for being so helpful and letting us stay for our short break. Weather was fabulous and we did plenty of sight seeing. A lovely base to adventure out into the beautiful Lake District. Steph

Peaceful Spot

This is a nice property in a secluded spot but only minutes away from the hotel if you need a bar/restaraunt. Plenty of trees and woods surround you without being in the middle of nowhere. The owner provides plenty of information and good clear directions on how to find the place.

Perfect!

We loved our stay at Rose Cottage. Booking was easy and cottage was exactly as described. Lots of walking guides & good information, and fully stocked with all you might need for a great break. We did a few of the walks and loved them - especially from Grange over to the HOSPICE and down into Cartmel as recommended from Andy. Hidden bar & restaurant nearby was great for a night off cooking - but we really loved the BBQ! (We are Aussies but is 4 BBQ's in 1 week too many?), With a glass of wine and great local produce at Higginsons on Main Street and in Cartmel village. We also got out into the wider lakes areas and loved it - but a walk around Buttermere Lake with a home made icecream at the end was a highlight and is a MUST DO! Will definitely be back - Can't thank you enough Andy! P&D xx

South Lakes Hideaway

Lovely little dream cottage in woodland. Very well equipped: plenty of kitchen kit, guidebooks and a decent satellite tv. Bar and restaurant at the hotel a few paces away. Highly recommended!
